Some console users have been complaining about the lack of replayability in the SP, and they said the MP is the only reason they still play the game. Now the MP in PC version is f*cked up.

I don't think pirate copy is the main issue. I think the gameplay for GTA 4 have completely reduced after the GTA 3 even the vehicle available in the game. I think they put too much Graphics and Physics to the game to make it look great but lacking the gameplay.

 

agree,i also think that single is really boring

 

for example in Hitman i can kill people in any way which i want...

but in GTA4 its hardly possible... scripts and triggers is everywhere!!! very often - is only ONE WAY to actually finish a mission...

 

this kind of gameplay is pretty suck for 2009y

San Andreas was more dinamyc and fun...

I totally agree, the silent takedown kills in SA was the sh*t, and the option for silenced weapons was totally a new concept for GTA.

I know that you thought that if your computer was able to run GTA:SA at MAX it would be able to run GTA IV at MAX too. But NO, time runs, GTA:IV is one of the best PC games ive played in my life, it doesnt matter if you cant run it with MAX settings, the game is what matters, the history, the gameplay, the physics. So if you think it is a bad game becouse you can MAX it, you arent a gamer. Thats all folks.

did I get this properly? Steam decided to give refunds (first time ever I believe) because of us whiners on the boards at GTAF? We have a lot of influence, don't we. Let's start bitching and moaning against war and hunger in world, we're bound to make a difference.

 

I understand there are loads of kiddies on the boards spewing crap out of every orifice on their bodies, but is there not a significant number of issues with this game? Let's compare GTA IV with a standard PC game.

 

A "standard" PC game

* go to the store (or load some download service app)

* get the game

* install the game

* play the game

* tweak it somewhat to get better FPS. Generally not an issue if you have a machine which laughs at system requirements.

* play the game some more

 

GTA IV

* go to the store (or load some download service app)

* get the game. Start to giggle. All the bad stuff you heard about it is not important right then and there.

* install the game. Register for GWFL. Register for RSC. Verify the date online and activate the game.

* play the game. Wait for all the spyware to lad. The game crashes

* tweak it extensively to get playable (not better) FPS. Even if your machine should run it without breaking a sweat, you are still fecked and need to hunt for that single FPS boost. Even if you succeed, you will probably suffer from intense framerate drops and stutter.

* tweak some more (like I did, for solid ten hours before I actually started playing it).

 

Now, I don't mind doing all this crap if I get running it properly. But even with all this crap the immersion factor is fecked. The game is staling here and there, there is pop-up. I would lower the setting if the game would run better on those settings. But it doesn't. So should we bitch and moan about it? What is the alternative? Say nothing?

 

"No R* North, we are perfectly happy with the game. After all, it's designed to be played on future hardware. So I'll just happily fit it on the shelf there and wait for my brand new PC which will be arriving shortly, in about 4 to 6 years". f*ck that sh*t.

 

Seriously, if (potential) poor GTA IV sales are PC gamers fault, R* North should really stop publishing their "PC games". We are really bad. We pirate, steal, refuse to buy 7 months old unfinished console ports but pay for it anyway just so we couldn't run it properly. WTF is wrong with us, people? Let's bend over and offer our buts for grabs!

 

It's a moronic notion to consider gamers as the guilty party for something the publisher is 100% responsible for. Does Activision suffer from the same problems? Or Valve? Why the hell not, it's more or less the same user base. Are GTA for PC fans such f*cking losers to be bringing R* North down just for kicks? Lets recall the facts

 

* they published a 7 months old console port

* they said it was going to be built for PC from ground up

* they said three years old PCs (maybe they meant three year old supercomputers) can run it

* they said it was built for the future but the game fails to support modern techniques. Like ultra modern AA.

* they blatantly lied about system requirements

* they publish a patch which basically fixes nothing and only causes new problems

* they said only 1% of people are having issues. Based on what? I have a nice PC, I KNOW my system performs as it should and I still have problems

* they lied about them not having plans to release it for PC (for the 3 to 4 months following the console release) [DML rules]

 

AND ALL OF THIS IS ON TOP OF WHAT WAS GOING ON FOR MONTHS PRIOR TO PC RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT. Have we forgotten about all that sh*t showed down our throats? Don't you remember what was it like back then, CharmingCharlie? If I remember correctly, there was a time I looked at your profile and you had removed the C2D avatar image and your member title. Do you remember? Maybe the fact you're on your way to become a GTAF mod has skewed your opinion.

 

Did I miss anything? What other developer acts like R* North does? If all this makes ma a "whiner" I'm prod to be one. R* North is treating us like little bitches once again and the least we can do is to bitch and moan about it on these boards.

 

Also, you people who keep mentioning "upcoming patches" I have to laugh at you. Firstly, this "upcoming patch" will not be here for a while more and, secondly, it will cost hard cash as it will be titled "GTA IV - Vice City". To the people saying "R* Toronto doesn't give a crap anymore" look here. It's been only FOUR days since this guys has last visited the forum

 

With all this being said, let me assure you, if there is going to be a next iteration of GTA on this engine for consoles, PC will be getting it as well.

Remember also, that they didn't mention the PC version until August. Prior to that announcement date in August, questions either went totally (and I mean TOTALLY) unanswered, or they were answered using the old "no current plans to release GTA IV on PC" response.

 

They told everyone that the game was EXCLUSIVE to the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3...just like they did with GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas (only, with the PS2 as their platform of choice).

 

So to recap this post, another fact to add to that list is...

 

* they lied about them not having plans to release it for PC (for the 3 to 4 months following the console release)

If you think GTA IV is a bad port then play RE4, Shaun White Snowboarding, Alone in the Dark, Beijing 2008. Their graphics, FPS and gameplay are fine but controls are embarrassing for PC. In GTA IV we have almost the same controls as in GTA SA. And the real PC don't need controllers for a fine game.

But the #1 of bad port is True Crime NYC. It runs badly on ALL PC's. Mouse sensitivity sucks, the game runs too fast on modern PCs. View distance is terrible. You can see Empire State from a distance of no more than 100 meters.

Sure the physics in GTA4 is a step up, graphics a little better, it all come down to the gameplay. San Andreas was more extensive in every manner. It was open ended. And not only that, 100% completion meant something as it unlocked stuff. GTA:IV isnt worth the time to even try to achieve 100% status.

 

And honestly im getting sick of people telling me to 'kill this person... kill that person'. I truly hope the next GTA series your character does his own missions. Im sick of helping every other tom dick and harry. I want to make it myself. I want to be able to recruit people to do sh*t for me. That would be awesome.

 

In any case im not suprised in the least for the poor sales of GTA:IV as the expectation (for me anyway) was much higher for this so called next gen game (if you can call it that).

I don't know you guy had tried the MTA San andreas build by somebody. People already can play San Andreas onLine with other friends and they could hold more than 32 people on the same server at once.... I think MTA AS was way better than Multiplay GTAIV.

I  However a vocal minority on this board do nothing BUT complain I have yet to see them say anything the least bit positive about the game.

 

 

They use every single opportunity to spread complete and utter bull about the performance problems and exaggerate everything, I wouldn't be surprised if I came to this board and found a topic called "GTA 4 molested my dog and left it for dead". I have no problem with people voicing their problems in a constructive and mature manner which actually HELPS. I haven't seen any of that, all I have seen is people going "C*ckstar Suckz" crap.

Sorry, this just really made me wet myself tba, where are the positives ???? Only for those who are able to play the thing, for the rest, if they keep the game and it does get fixed then the positives will come later.

BTW I want to complain about the fact I walked in last night and found my dog in pool of blood and a durex hanging out of its........ next to my puter last night after trying to run GTA 4, it is obvious that GTA4 is to blame. That [email protected]@king rockstar must have put something in the code that allows the DVD to jump out and molest peoples dogs when they are not looking.
