DML
At Myer there are 0 PC games... I've used that store (specifically the Melbourne city store) in the past to highlight how one-sided the commercial support is for PC games. To those who don't understand the example I'm using: In the city of Melbourne, there is a large department store named Myer. It resides in two buildings - each with about 6 floors in use. In the mid-to-late 90s, the 4th floor of the Lonsdale street building became the new Electronics department of the store. An area about 30m x 30m was dedicated to PC software, with most of it covered in games shelves. Fast forward to today...not a single PC game resides in either of the two buildings. Games are still being developed for PC...they are certainly still be played on PC...most continue to suit the PC better...however thanks to the market force of Sony and Microsoft shoving their sh*thouse games in peoples' faces, stores (at least in Australia) no longer give the PC the attention it rightfully deserves. StoProGratis
It's dying for me. At Myer there are 0 PC games, at Big W virtually no shelf space is given to PC games. If that's not dying then what is? Australlia is really not a centre of the world ( only 20mln of the people) Here in Europe ( maybe except the England) PC games are in every bigger store. In Poland there's more hard to find a console games, in Germany in Media Markts shelves are full of PC games, Xbox 360 and PS3 games are also there. In Poland console games sale is really poor, The Witcher on PC sold more coppies than whole ammount of Xbox 360+PS3 sold here! My friends from Australlia says that people working in electronic stores there don't even know how to build a proper PC gaming rig In Sweden and Poland PC games are more popular that's for sure cause I saw some data about game sales ( no time for searching this now). viometrix
gta didnt do too bad honestly...and the reason you see not too many pc games on store shelves are because of people like me.... i buy tons of pc games....but not from a garbage store...i buy digital downloads...less wear and tear on my hardware, less packaging to clutter my house, roaming profiles, and i cant scratch or lose the disk.... just download it again. pc games are actually doing pretty well over all.... yes there is a lull, but we havent had any real new innovations in gaming lately at all.... but when you look at all the video cards selling like hotcakes these days, do you think people are buying them to surf the net? i think not, its to play games
supermortalhuman
The reason you don't see them in stores is because we buy them on Steam and D2D - we had Live Marketplace long before Live Marketplace - This shows you how screwed up/unknowing their whole market is. Just to reiterate something I said earlier here: The only platform to ever beat the PC since Super Nintendo has been the Nintendo Wii. PC has outsold every other console, regardless that it has to wait months at a time later to get some titles. Once again: PC makes more money from video games than every console except the Wii. Neon25
Once again: PC makes more money from video games than every console except the Wii. Actually: The PC is the largest single platform for games with annual worldwide revenue of about $11 billion. This is more than • any of the console and portable systems from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. From PC Gaming Alliance report.

OutOfTimer
Australlia is really not the centre of the world (only 20mln people). Here in Europe (maybe except England), PC games are in every big store. In Poland there's harder to find console games, in Germany Media Markt shelves are full of PC games, whereas Xbox 360 and PS3 games are also there. In Poland console games sales are really poor. The Witcher on the PC sold more coppies than both Xbox360 and PS3. My friend from Australlia says that people working in electronic stores there don't even know how to build a proper PC gaming rig. In Sweden and Poland PC games are more popular that's for sure (I saw some data about game sales). Agree 100%. I talked to a guy in a game store today and he said the console sales were in fact poor and the main reason for choosing a console over a PC is that most people are too stupid to even understand the minimum requirements. Then they come to the store and say the game doesn't run on their comp. He asks what the rig is and they answer "I don't know but I guess it's really good 'cause it's Pentium or something." At that point all he can do is to tell the moron to buy a console. You just pop the disc in and play. No IQ required. In my personal opinion, piracy doesn't have much to do with the sales. In fact, XBox360 piracy is so common nowadays, it couldn't escape Micro$oft's watchful eye. I think they use this statement only as a marketing argument to milk consoles. I know people who pirate every single game on XBox360 and play on multiplayer every time. One guy has several new games every week and says his only problem is electricity and noise at night since he leaches torrents 24/7. LOL He says the only thing you can't do is to play multiplayer before the game's release date so he prepares a table with all the dates. ROFL Personally, I don't understand this attitude since I play 1-2 games a year and want the whole package. I also cherish the thought I support my favourite creators. Quite frankly, however, most people think differently. They think they have the right to rip off the developers. Guess who has to suffer? Yes, you and me. Corporations stuff their games with friggin' DRM to annoy us. I'm so tired of this I started checking what DRM every game has before I buy it. If it's sufficiently intrusive, I just go to a cinema for the price (like 5 times). I guess the only thing that protects f***ing Micro$oft and their f***ing little friend Electronic Arts is the fact that pirating XBox360 games is reportedly more difficult than pirating PC games. That will change soon, though. If you ask me, I believe in strong law enforcement and targeting torrent sites. The last thing I want is more DRM. Oxytoe
the 32 player multi was gonna be rockstars golden egg in terms of PC sales, but a bad port and easily hackable game ( likley due to rockstars lack of care and sheer laziness) made it virtually impossible to play the multi mode with enjoyment and continuity, instead we ended up playin aimlessly fixing the bugs and wondering when some turd is gonna decide to crash the game again next.... HushemFlupskluk
Hushem also descends to complain. Did I really buy this game to only maybe have fun with LAN games? Very few friends of mine have a system that will play GTA 4. The GTA 4 servers are (they never left) infested with cheaters and such, it is just no fun anymore. Again I say; I never spend money on one single piece of Rockstar sh*t again. Hopefully their place burns down and their sh*t with it. ImoonPeople
Hey I just wanted to put this in here. I, like most, hate hearing about piracy on the PC and Fudzilla just put this out. http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/16398/1/ "One in 20 is a pirate " I believe where they said "...one in every 20 Windows Live users, ...", They ment Xbox Live users, because the article isn't about the PC or GFWL, just Xbox. mkey82
Yeah, blaming the users again. 1) this can get f*cked up easily if something is wrong with .net framework. And this is not a users fault. If you need to reinstall, it will take it's sweet time, as you need to remove 3.5, then 1.1 then reinstall/redownload both packages and install them. Only the 3.5 installation takes about 15 minutes on a quad. No user faults here. 2) this process can take a few days. Like in my case while I was waiting for the goddamn confirmation. Luckily, I did this in advance, got the game only later on. Again, no user fault. 3) . 4) . 5) . 6) this can easily get f*cked up as the automatic update for both GFWL and the game is bugged and in some cases you need to install manually. And until you do, you can't run the game. No user fault here, neither. 7) . 8) eternal loading, yeah, until you figure out that vsyc must be off. A tad hard to do in under 20 minutes. This process can take it's time especially for a less experienced user. It could have been a lot simpler. Yeah, 20 mins is a bit on short end.
