People were stealing the game long before any of these issues were known so don't try and pull that bull. I haven't had any problems with the game myself, I will admit the game could have been better optimised but then again people with 8400gt cards shouldn't be expecting better graphics than the console and a res of 1900 x 1200 either. CharmingCharlie
Rofl so I am now a thief, Rockstar collaborator and I am secretly working for Rockstar Toronto now. The fact is I am a normal PC gamer like the rest of you guys and some of the whinging that has been done on this forum has been embarrassing. Right now I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rockstar just said "f*ck it" to the PC format and if you think that is something to celebrate then you are quite honestly the biggest moron on the planet. Sunrise Driver
Those who stole this game play the worst version cause they have bugs with gameplay, bugs because of cracks, no multiplayer, no support, no movies upload to SC, no possible DLC. And Live, Social Club and SecuROM aren't big problems for those who bought the game. Edited December 22, 2008 by Street Mix
Chroniss
Stop blaming the people on the forums. The only people at fault here are the Rockstar Toronto team. The amount of negative feedback they receive is proportionate to the state of the game release. If they had not released it like this, it wouldn't get such a bad rep. Right now I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rockstar just said "f*ck it" to the PC format and if you think that is something to celebrate then you are quite honestly the biggest moron on the planet. What actually is moronic is trying to distort reality by suggesting that a QX top line Quad and 280 GTX GPU ought not to eek out anything other than a lousy 25+ FPS. What is utterly moronic is to suggest that a sh*t, half arsed port deserves support and praise to high heavens so that they may one day make another half arsed et cetera. I'll never forget my first personal computer game installation, Horace Goes Skiing and being decidedly underwhelmed, luckily i had a truly next gen title to toy with, the game being Monty Mole. I played GTAIV on the PS3 and was entertained but could hardly wait for the release on the only platform to really take it up a notch, what we got was criminal theft. In all my years of gaming never have I seen such a shoddy half arsed port. Then again it was the pirates what ruined it... Time for honesty for once ...would you trust R* Toronto to port over Pong, no doubt you'll state 32 FPS at 1st service dropping to 10FPS once the action really hots up is a fantastic achievement for such a technically advanced game. You talk about embarrassing, yet seem completely oblivious to how your specious blind praise only serves the notion that you're not being wholly honest with yourself, if not us. Street MixAnd Live, Social Club and SecuROM aren't big problem for those who bought the game. It is a massive problem and absolute disgraceful imposition to have inflicted that rootkit virus sh*t on our machines to play what is essentially a poorly ported 360 game with only ever so slightly improved textures. If anyone is killing the PC gaming industry it is greedy thieving publishers serving up overpriced and below par quality tat. Like the music industry ate itself with their sheer greed, i.e. radioheads experiment of free downloads for a month and you can choose to pay what you want from £0.00 upwards, they made more in one month than all their previous hugely successful albums, such was the stark greed of the music industry. The way they are acting,(only 1% has trouble with the game,a barely working patch, the game itself is a huge bug/DRM fest)that says all things.By releasing a game in such a state, lying about the system requriments, and working on a patch before the game actually comes out, they not told us,but showed us a f**k it.Is Pc gaming dying because of fans(and pirates lol)whining about a good game,or because fans(and pirates)whining about an awful game? You can't really put this one on the gamers you know. Now the gamers actually have a right to whine because of all this legal crap. That attitude really ticks me off. I admit that some posts here have been way overboard but there are plenty of legitimate complaints as well. I have never said you shouldn't complain. I myself have a few gripes about the game and I have let them be known. However a vocal minority on this board do nothing BUT complain I have yet to see them say anything the least bit positive about the game. They use every single opportunity to spread complete and utter bull about the performance problems and exaggerate everything, I wouldn't be surprised if I came to this board and found a topic called "GTA 4 molested my dog and left it for dead". I have no problem with people voicing their problems in a constructive and mature manner which actually HELPS. I haven't seen any of that, all I have seen is people going "C*ckstar Suckz" crap. Lutra78
You can give a damn about NPD-charts. They only consider Retail sales in stores. No Downloads (I guess more than 20% of GTAIV-copies are downloaded via Steam) or online-shops like amazon.com. GTAIV is in the top3 in almost every european country, so the sales aren't that bad (I really wonder how a pc gamer can be happy about bad sales of a pc game - this is schizophrenic...) link626
2 things will come of this: either Cockstar won't make games for pc anymore or, they test the sh*t out of the next game before release. #1 is more likely. and GTA4 pc sales are poor because people don't want to buy this sh*t twice if they have it on console already. console version sold over 5 million. SkapeGote
SUp, Charlie is right, people here whine to much. I blame parenting. If I whined I just a smack. SUck it up people, just because something doesn't work doesn't mean you start acting 3 and sling curse words around, or typing all caps. A lot of people here should be ashamed of themselves. I had a hell of a time getting this game to run, but eventually it did. I wasn't on the forums whining a carrying on, threatening silly lawsuits, or saying how R* is the worse company ever. For example I own a 2007 Honda Civic SiR, got it in January. I have now had 2 transmissions replaced, 2 clutches, my exhaust leaks in 3 places from cracking, the windshield wiper motor dies a week again, and just yesterday she spun a cam. So here I am wondering as I head to the dealership, again, in my 1987 f-150 watching the odometer roll past 350,000 miles why the hell I bought it. The one thing I do not do is walk into the dealership and start causing a fuss. People here either need to grow up, or learn some manners. Skape P.S. I think I am ditching the SiR, I just need to find something fun to replace it with.

Off topic: that's not true, and they'll never do that again. Their PR misrepresented what happened, and it was one of a number of instances of financially secure musicians doing something attention-grabbing that hurt the prospects of other musicians immeasurably. It's easy to imagine that the only opponents of free music must be big industry bosses, but it's nowhere near that simple.

Probably not, but is it really unexpected considering the equally if not more so venomous response critics have recieved on this forum regardless of wether their posts can accurately be called whining or not? Perhaps that was the fanboys intention: a flame-war distracts from the massive problems with the game, so why not repeatedly try and start one? Can anyone here honestly say there was any way in which a complaint could be made on this forum and not recieve the extraordinary faux outrage from fanboys who appear to have free-reign to abuse? That's clearly a lie, Charlie says that is blatantly a lie, so it is, all now desist from criticising the game you horrid pirates with below spec PCs and poorly maintained systems etc ad nauseum. Trouble is defending the indefensible always makes one look a c*nt to the ill disciplined riff raff that can see through this charade. BTW the point about Radiohead was not off topic, it was to counteract the rather witless anti-piracy assertion bollocks that sh*t games deserved great financial reward, no matter how poor quality the product. Great games, just like great music will sell and make a profit regardless of piracy. From the very advent of radio airplay and tape copying, music and games have been recorded and shared for free, quality stays high, profit yield is too, start selling sh*t so comes the fall. We just are now in a different age where we can download rather than sit by our radios finger hovering over the record button.
