Sounded like fun. I got signed out just as we were all travelling to i dont know where, from alderney. I wasnt too sure what to do in that game, Then i got the dreaded DNS error for ages after. Sorry i couldnt play.

Great games yesterday and sorry for not posting til now...Sat. night, ya know (and despite popular concensus, I actually DO have a life...lol).

 

My home system is not complete yet so have to wait to get Result Screenshots and video (of chase round) up and won't be back to work til Tuesday (off tomorrow! Woohoo!!!). The Chase vid should be sick!

 

I agree with everything everyone has posted so far. GREAT games, but we still need a bit of tweeking, especially for the Chase Rounds.

 

I LOVE John's "TOUR" idea! This time just seemed like, as he said, more of a race, really. Bigmike is an excellent racer and I don't think he even KNOWS how to drive anything but full out...lol

 

In both rounds, he outran the convoy within 60 seconds (as in Gone In...)! This became a problem in that once the Helis figured out who to chase (2nd round), they were on us HARD! Made for some very cool footage though...lol

 

I also agree with John about picking up health, as well. If the Pilots agree to stick w/their heli to the end (which I don't think we will EVER get ALL the Pilots to agree with), then we should go back tyo no killing Pilots on the ground. Either way, though, we are getting better and better each week. For some future matches, I am probably going to pick out specific battlefields for each round (w/maps here and stuff). (btw, I was the lone, well-hedden sniper covering the Heli Tours...lol Wanted to try something different this week...no kills though )

 

We have GOT to find some places on other maps that give us the same advantages as the cranes in Algonquin (both north & south). I love playing these in Bohan, but (I think) we have never even come close to winning there.

 

And a little about the last 'chase' round...You can tell, the players yesterday really being the Core group for this, that ALL of us are SO NOT about any DRAMA!

 

This is why I say this...lmao

 

After we had 'Lost' the General thing (bladed right at the glitch...sheesh), the round turned pretty much into a normal, chaotic airport DM. I thought ppl would leave, but, for a while, everyone stayed...until 'someone' broke out the sound board and started playing crazy ass ppl yelling and cussing. I gotta say, it kinda freaked me out to (and the guy called me and asked if it was ok...I said yes cuz we were just screwing around anyway). But it didn't work out that way...lol

 

I heard the SB cussing and then a cpl ppl were like "sh*t...what now?!?" Then I heard SJ say something like "Down, boy!" (lmao) and everyone from GTs left!

 

Now THAT is what I call ANTI-DRAMA!

 

Anyway, the dude w/the SB got bored after that and left, so its me against 4 Helis!

 

I thought, "Ah, f*ckit!" and did my best to stay alive, taking them on chases and crap. They kept coming for me too! Died a lot, but was fun.

 

Also, a BIG to CHARGER (my nemisis, as you all know ) for sticking out the last, hour long match. We were the only 2 left for the last half hour and he decided to stay on the ground, one on one. Truthfully, that was some FUN sh*t!!! It wasn't a straight up, Guns Blazing type of thing. We both got sniper kills, he ran me over a cpl times, I went on a five minute stint where I was placing grenades perfectly and got him like 4 or 5 times in a row.

 

Damn Good Times in LC!!!

 

And lastly, I beieve that a few ppl earned a Medal (as SJ was keeping an eye on things in that department...Thanks dude! ) including me that got an outstanding (and my first in these matches) RPG kill against arsonist...got him dead-center on his widsheild ( ); instant kill! (was so excited about it, couldn't even explain it on the mic... )

 

I will get the 'Medals' thing together and annouce the Medal-winners soon. I am also redesigning the Medals (I decided I didn't like the ones I showed and they need to be resized to use them anywhere here anyway).

 

MATCH TRIALS TODAY: 2pm EST (7pm GMT)

 

Anyone is allowed to attend this match...and a reminder to any new ppl that are trying to get into the Elite Matches:

 

YOU MUST PLAY AT LEAST ONE TRIAL MATCH TO GET ONTO THE ELITE MATCH LIST!

 

And this is really for just having some fun and getting the idea of how these matches work. Depending on who shows (if anyone), we will do it the same as yesterday, two rounds for the War and a 'Chase' round. This might be an opportunity for some who couldn't get in yesterday to try again (Bates, Lellup, etc.).

 

I think we are right on track with these matches and I would like to thank ALL the regulars for making these so much fun!

 

A GTA Organized Event can only be as good as the players make it!

Oh yeah, I got lucky. Was logged into another account, reading some hate mail when I randomly checked the first post in the thread, sat there for a second and was like "oh, this start in minutes!"

johnwontscore - same feelings dude, it's like if somehow, someway I'm going to wreck and a pilot is going to be near, it was going to be you. At some point yesterday I think I felt like you were magnetically attracted to me. You crashed at the airport was just crazy luck, I come tearing across the way, hear somebody on my team mention they thought a pilot had landed and...there you were, literally right in front of me. Great battles with you man.

 

I think I knew the last match was gone to sh*t when I noticed CHARGER glitched under the map, which is of course how you'd take out the General trying to get inside a glitch. The Chase may need tweeking, but I think it's a great concept.

 

Good to see that everybody is a decent driver as well as shooter. You'd hope so by this point.

What was it??? $16/hr to play GTA? wtf!

 

Anyway, the Trials went off about as well as expected.

 

1st round was pretty cool! GTs won, but score went back and forth and had some great action!

 

All rounds after that deteriorated to reg. TDM, thanks to a cpl of the ppl I thought I'd give another shot to...oh well, dumb on my part.

 

After I realized that a cpl ppl were doing whatever, which I made clear this match was about whatever, I went along, no big deal. Then one of the randoms that got invited started in with the "You suck! I'm the Best GTA Player in the Universe" crap and admit, I got mad.

 

Now, I try to be nice all the time...I really don't like talking on the mic...and REALLY can't stand those types of players in reguilar play, so I let loose with a barrage of insults, as is my way...lol

 

Then SJ does what he always does...calmly explains to the guy why he is an idiot in the way only SJ can...and after three sentences, he made the guy look so dumb, he pretty much shut up after that.

Yeah, great fun yesterday, Warriors! GTs as well as Pilots!

 

I even managed to stay alive the entire first match. And got 2 kills with one rocket when one pilot was picking up another stranded pilot like 20 metres away from me!

 

Second match I was my own nemesis (lol), blowing myself up with rockets 2 times...and a really funny kill by CHARGER. I was aiming for johnwontscore with the M4 and already pulling the trigger when a Minigun bullet from the far East hit me directly in the head and took all my health in one hit. I was like "Whoa!" Great shot Charger!

 

I'm looking forward to the next matches, but wont be able able to make it next Saturday cause I'm on a festival for the whole day (so is explicitmo btw!). But maybe I pop into the Trial match on Sunday...who knows!

 

Props again for this one of a kind Event, Chris. We're really getting better I guess. No total sellozuts in the normal War matches anymore!

Maybe we could test your ability to host sometime this week and if its stable you could host next match like Bates did when he was having trbles.

Hey actually I can host my own games.. works good.. That's mostly what I do these days, I usually invite some of my m8s and we screw around.. then occasionally it happens that some1 else is hosting a better game and every1 leaves for that game.. invites me to join.. but I usually cant accept >.<!

 

Oh well it would be cool if I could try host a game ^^ Thx for the offer, would be cool to test it out!

there is nothing wrong with me, I just f*cking hate pilots with a passion. I know you guys have headsets I was speaking in general terms. Got on ps3 freemode last night, 3 people ( including me ) had headsets out of 16 and they almost never used them, and one of them kept trying to kick me.

I´ve been pondering the various possibilities for the general’s tour and I think it could work quite well under certain conditions: two teams in the game, one team including just the general, the other GTs and pilots; friendly fire off; blips set to all; respawn distance near; and full city map. GTs have to drive the general from safe zone to safe zone and can use weapons to fend off/destroy the copters. Pilots primarily waste the general, but also give the GTs’ vehicles a hard time if they feel like. The advantages are more chasing, more drama, more cruelty, the general dies a lot but gives every GT an opportunity to pick him up and get in on the action. Since he would respawn nearby and GTs wouldn’t die much, everyone would stay fairly close and not miss the fun. If the game became imbalanced, too many pilots for example, a pilot could join the GTs and vice versa. General would be allowed to shoot and run, but not drive. Could work well if people are prepared to forsake kills in favour of cruelty and chaos. Destinations could be prearranged or chosen after each leg. Hope you like it Chris.

 

Jude: sorry for dropping out of your team mafia game, but I’ve never played it before and wanted to eat just then. I’ll play it next time your invites work though. I’m rubbish on the ground so you’ll own me for certain, but I deserve to be punished I think.

john - no worries, I was just sending random invites to get a bigger game and I haven't played that mode much myself.

 

I like some of your concepts. The Escort game could really turn into something awesome with some tweaks because the idea is fantastic, kind of Cops and Crooks without being annoying the way that mode is, it would just be fun to add some shooting skills to the driving skills. That first game, blips set to team, I think we made record time across the map, the entire posse. Nice to see everybody is a capable driver.

 

Somehow making it more than just a chase would bring this to a new level.

 

I must mention again, it was LAME how the one dude, WheelsndSky, chopper bladed Chris instead of shooting at him. I thought ELITE meant, you know, being elite, not flying like every free mode playing n00b wannabe

Oh man, trying to driveby the heli's with handguns and SMG's = priceless! I soooo wanted to be the guy to shoot down a chopper, from a moving car, with an SMG. I also hope to win the lottery and drive a Lambo!

 

I truly enjoyed my Horror Movie moment. You know, in all the horror movies somebody is hiding from the monster but OH NOES they make a sound so the monster knows they're close! Speilberg ripped this off fabulously during the Velociraptor in the Kitchen sequence from Jurassic Park.

 

Anyway, I stood up to grab a rifle and arzonist notices a blip. I immediately crouch next to a pole, blending in nicely I must say. He KNOWS somebody is there and is hovering in tight circles, literally right above me. Finally he flashes forward and I see his head so I think "perfect time to get another chopper kill!"

 

I pop up, aim up with M4, lay off a couple of shots and am (once again) brutally cut down by gunfire.

Right, i thought i might take the time to ask about Captains priorities.

 

Because as i was watching & always take notice of our formation when we fight, its always all over the place. Maybe captains/generals have the responsibility of talking tactics with there team & keeping them in safe zones throughout the locations. So the Captains have more of a role in finding spots?

The games I've been Captain in, it's pretty simple: locate by a crane (as we tend to play Algonquin and Bohan). There is usually ample coverage nearby.
