..And about the Pilots bailing/getting health...The points made in the last 3 or so posts (in response to King Negative) lays out my points about this subject better than I have been able to explain it (thanks guys).

 

There is only ONE REQUIREMENT for these matches to take place...PILOTS!

 

Without them (and their arrogant ways...lol), there is no match!

 

And I DO like to beating them without resorting to added 'rules'.

 

And once more I would like to point out that arsinist HAS been hanging in even after he catches fire!

 

@Captains: Just a reminder that the next match will be open to earning medals, so please take a quick look at the Medal Categories and keep them in the back of your mind as we play. I don't think that there will be a problem w/ppl trying to 'scam' there way to a Medal, but never thought our match would ever get griefed, either!

 

This is once again shaping up to be a great match! smile.gif

EDIT: WOW! Bigmike posted a game idea (LINK) in the MP section the 18th that I missed completely and it would work GREAT for us to do, maybe after the reg. match is over (or maybe just one round).

 

The idea is to start a round on the far left island (am terrible remembering names). One GT would be designated as our "Boss" (or maybe a General to stay in keeping with our theme) and needs to be transported to the Airport. Then, the whole premise would be for the Ground Forces to get him there without dying. All the other GTs could spawn and rejoin Bodygaurd duty, but the General would not be allowed to die.

 

The Heli team's goal would be to stop us from getting him there alive at all costs!

 

Could be something we do just to mix it up a bit and sounds like it might be a blast!

 

I keep picturing two convoys (one w/General - one as decoy) rolling through LC at full speed, Helis raining down bullets from above... icon14.gif

 

What do you guys think? Might be fun.

 

And two cookie.gifcookie.gif for Bigmike72 for coming up with it!!!!

That idea sounds great Chris - chasing people through the city is loads of fun.

Count me in on that one please.

 

Regarding the standard air-ground war, use me as a sub for either team if you don't have

enough people for a match. I don't want to be a regular starter until I've got a new TV

and can better deal with the settings that you guys like to use.

Well, I can't think of anything that would stop us from doing it as a TDM...

 

Also, maybe the "Safe Zone" for the General should be glitching into the terminal...this way there is the potential for a firefight at the end...(sometimes takes forever to do that damn glitch without doing the under the map thingy!)

Sounds like fun. Blips would need to be turned off to stop the pilots looking for the target on the map screen and making decoys useless, also giving us the ability to hide.

 

Chris, do you really think we would be able to get the General inside the safe zone before a pilot comes along and turns him in to bloodberry milkshake? Because I don't, but I am willing to try.

It depends who is driving and how fast you can glitch inside. We could of course also just use one of the other safe spots at the Airport, like the stairwell by the traintracks me, Owl and Scarface all tend to use, though I'm totally down for trying the glitch method!

 

As this one wouldn't count as an Elite match, we should absolutely make sure to invite Bigmike since he came up with the concept.

 

Chris - I'll also keep a tally of kills and try to do my best to discern real kills (sniped pilot out of moving chopper) vs cheese kills (shot pilot getting into chopper, was last person to shoot pilot when 5 people were all shooting at said pilot, etc). Seems the TW crew enjoys their medals so why not right?

 

Besides, I'm totally going for "gets killed the most trying to do the dumbest things" biggrin.gif

I know Im far of elite pilot, but I would love to play with good warriors and non griefers, so please lmk, if I can get in for upcoming match!!I didnt saw my name in any squad and I know that I left the 1st match Ive played but I would love to be in again.thx for answer!:p

 

Bigmike"s idea looks great..and maybe blips set to "leader" will be good option too, imo..pilots can see where is targed and not any other from ground troops.

Are you suggesting we put the General on his on team and let him kill us for five minutes? If so, that would defeat the point of the decoys.

Well, maybe not. lol But the General should have his entourage with him when he gets to the glitch, and the decoy convoy will be heading that direction as well, so will have ppl there to protect him (in theory, anyway).

 

@SJ: Yea, back in the day when I was glitching all the time, I could get into the terminal in one try most of the time (would frustrate the hell outta ppl I would show it to cuz they couldn't get it). Doubt very seriously if I could now.

 

About the Glitch Safe Zone: I just think that this would add a bit of tension at the end...I mean, if the Pilots see that we are almost to a Safe Zone that has no difficulty in getting into, they may just give up. If, however, they know that once we get the General there, it might take a few minutes to get in the glitch, they will still keep coming!

 

About Blip Settings: I think that we need blips on in some manner. It would be damn near impossible for the Pilots to find either convoy with them off. I vote for Blips: Far. This way they can at least see where we are heading (and a real 'Death Squad" would at least have intel as to what the routes might be).

 

As far as the decoy not meaning anything with blips on...well, I just don't see it. The only way the Pilots will be able to tell which convoy has the General is to get close enough to actually see the player TAGs of the ppl in vehicles. I think that is difficult enough for them. And also adds the chance of some serious frustration when a Pilot commits to following a certain convoy and then realises its the wrong one!!! icon14.gificon14.gificon14.gif

 

EDIT: Ok...Forgot you can zoom in on the map screen and see who the dots are...hhhmmmmm...maybe set blips to near, so they at least have to find a convoy before checking the map? I just think blips none would be too much for the Pilots...we could roll through without them even seeing us once...I don't know...

 

About the Medals: Yea, SJ, was thinking of adding some fun, none-skill categories (mainly so there is a chance of me actually winning myself one...lol). Maybe, like you said, 'Most Times Killed, Most Helis crashed...stuff like that.

 

As far as "Verifying" Medals, here are my thoughts:

To get into the Elite Matches, we have already established (again, in theory) that all participants are legit and won't cheat/grief/hack/whatever. We are still going on the Honor System. I think the verification process should be that a participant keeps track of there own stats (when it comes to Medals) then contacts a Captain with a request for the Medal. If that captain saw no blatent reason why the Medal shouldn't be awarded, then he announces it in the thread. Then each of the other Captains post yay (if they saw nothing in-game that says he is lying) or NAY (if they did).

 

Otherwise, we would almost have to designate a player to do nothing but be on "Medal Watch".

 

And finally, I also think that Bigmike72 should absolutely be invited! And, if he wants, maybe we designate HIM to play the General. I will PM him if no one has a prob w/it.

Blips off or distant would make this another boring, tactical, win-at-all-costs game as there'd be little point to the pilots searching for targets, instead glitching into the airport building and waiting would be the best tactical option - totally boring. The game, I suggest, should be about the fun/beauty of the chase: car skills vs helicopter skills. Blips near or all seems like the better option to me. If you can identify player names on the map in TDM, having a boss to transport wouldn't work too well. Maybe a general objective for all ground players: glitch into the airport building, park an RS at the end of the runway or similar.

Bigmike72 said he wanted to play. I told him I'd send him an invite around 3pm EST.

 

I am thinking two 30 min War matches then the Chase round.

 

Again, these are First Online First into the match.

 

And lets just try the Chase round with Blips near and see how it goes. We may want to consider foregoing the decoy though. Even though they can look at the map and spot the General, it is going to be hard to keep track of him while we are moving...

 

So in the chase round, everyone arm up (w/driveby weapons), grab the vehicle of your choice (may want to consider toughness over speed) and meet at the Mansion where the Sultan RS spawns. Once everyone is ready, everyone form up the convoy starting at the place where the dirt driveway turns to pavement. I will then 'kick vote' one of the Pilots to let them know to bring it on!!! that_guy2057_evilgrin.gif

 

I suggest at least 6 vehicles.That way, if we happen to get bogged down or cornered, we can split up as a last ditch effort. Also, keep an eye out for other vehicles catching fire. We gotta try and stay together and I doubt any of us will make it all the way in the vehicle we start in.

 

Anyone want to volunteer to take point and navigate the convoy?

 

Its gonna be a LONG drive with four Helis after us! icon14.gif

This is kinda a test run for these. We will be able to better tweek it once we try it once.

 

1 hour, 5 minutes to match!

Excellent Chris.

 

Bare in mind though, The convoy cars/jeeps/trucks will be set on fire so quickly. So a good few cars/trucks/jeeps is a good idea. Will anyone be filming this? It will look incredible.

GROUND FORCES won the first game!

 

PILOTS won the second game.

 

Then we did the Escort game, first time around to no avail as we had blips set to TEAM.

 

Second try, PILOTS won, though for whatever reason WINGSndSKY decided to chopperblade Chris instead of shooting as all the other pilots do is beyond me biggrin.gif

Odd, I would have expected more input by now, especially concerning the Escort the General mode! Gotta say, the whole pack of us parked in that garage in Alderny waiting to take off was pretty funny/cool looking. I know my way around Alderny now: I have officially played too much Dealbreaker biggrin.gif

 

As for kills, I *think* johnwontscore garnered most kills for Pilots. gta_lad/SCAR-FACE99 garnered most kills for Ground Forces.

 

SCAR-FACE sniped TASO out of a moving chopper.

 

I shot CHARGER out of a moving chopper with an M4.

 

Not sure anybody else actually shot a chopper down, other than the group kills.

 

By group kill I mean like in Bohan where I get credit for killing arzonist but in reality, arzonist (true to form and PROPS!!!!) was honoring the stay in the chopper request, battling it out with all of us despite being on fire, my bullet hit his chopper last so I get credit for the kill when all I did was throw a random bullet in the direction of a damaged chopper.

 

Once again, arzonist was the ONLY pilot actually doing this. Kudos x1000

I got shot down by SCAR-FACE and his rpg in the dying seconds of the first game and I think it was him again at the airport with an M4 in that failed chase game. So well done to you SCAR-FACE. I was being a bit stupid though; in both cases going too low and slow, but I’m not used to playing against people that can shoot without auto, so that’s my excuse.

 

Jude, why is it always you? You frighten me. I crash in Bohan and it has to be you waiting on the ground for me. I land to get a sniper rifle to mess your guys up at the airport and you have to arrive in your damn car at that precise moment just so you can f*ck me up. I couldn’t believe my bad luck there. Having said that, it was a righteous kill on you part. I wasn’t being vengeful in the last game btw, I just saw two guys in a car and had to go for them.

 

Sorry dj.arsonizt and Charger, I had left my mic off by mistake cause the wife kept interrupting me, so when you were asking me where I had got killed in the 1st chase game I was saying they were all at the airport, come to the airport, but you obviously couldn’t hear me. Sorry.

 

Regarding burning helicopters, I would love to stay in my helicopter and go down in flames and blow up and look pretty in someone’s video, but look at the situation in the Algonquin game: the ground is hostile, people will shoot me just to get a cheap kill; there’s some guy RPGing the copters so it’s going to be difficult getting another; and if I get past him, there’s a bored sniper well-hidden and overlooking the helipads just waiting for a chance to waste my sorry *ss. Not a good deal I’d say. So why should I let you shoot me down when you’ll repay me like that?

 

The chase game didn’t work too well. The first was a joke, the second better, but was over too quick. We need to maximise the fun stuff. What if we take the general on a tour of the interesting parts of the city so it’s more of a chase and less a race. Pilots would only attack the general who’d have his own colour so that GTs would all get a chance to rescue him and drive him a bit without worrying about helis between times. Pilots win if they kill the general a set number of times, GTs if they complete the tour. Every stop would be a safe zone.

 

Oh yea, I think the game in Bohan without blips was best fun. We may not be able to see you, but the tension is delightful.
