how does it make 1 brave to hide in the sky out of the range of bullets? You would show much more bravery if you stayed in your chopper until it exploded. No leaving the battlescene until you die but I doubt you will do this.

It's called intelligence. Why would you go into range of danger when you can keep out of it and still make effect?

Yep, ground forces should use their advantage aswell BTW. I just can't understand why I still see lots of ground forces running around on open spaces just waiting to get killed.

I was in this event for just 3 games. But IMO the ground forces need to stay together and hide on a spot where you have a lot of cover and take the choppers out when THEY are coming for YOU! When we played and took cover in the broken building near the gas station in Broker, we didn't die too often... BTW, I never got killed by those elite pilots in those games, although I gotta admit they ARE elite! icon14.gif

Stev's attitude is great, but really he's probably the only one that can do this. Still the only way to beat the piltos is using a defensive tactic or you will be constantly owned...

I will be there this Saturday BTW. Got my PS3 back!! colgate.gif

when you guys play, what are the blips set to? if you turned them off totally, wouldn't it help the ground forces? it woud make it slightly harder for the heli's to find you. and the ground forces don't really need a blip to see a big-ass helicopter in the sky above.

just a thought, i'll crawl back into my hole now. smile.gif

We played with different settings... of course it's easier for the GT to have the blips on far or off, but there are some guys that got more balls than brains, ya know... lol.gif

And in a lot of situations, you need to be more agile, so you can't sit and crouch the whole time either...

Yea...I think that iswhat attracts me a lot to this too...lol

@RAGE: Welcome to the madness! lol I will update the OP and get you on the list. Please send a friend request to AllPilotsMustDie. This will gaurantee you a spot.

As far as fitting everyone in, not everyone on the list shows up every week. Bates hosts the 1st match we set up. He invites AllPilotsMustDie (which is a user made for this event [mine]) and I invite everyone. If we get a situation where there are 20 or more ppl ready to play, I will leave the first match and host a second to be played simultaniously.

We have only had one week where this accured. Also, there have to be at least 20 ppl available to play two seperate matches so that there will be at least ten ppl in each.

Now...

I love the random chaos of the matches as they are now. However, as they are now, GTs will NEVER even have a chance of actually winning.

So, the following is an idea I have for organizing the Ground Forces. Once most of us agree with this method, I will post in the OP and make it official. Hear me out.

GROUND FORCES STRATEGY

In order for Ground Forces to really give the Pilots as much Hell as possible, I would like start treating GTs like actual Army.

I would like to "Promote" three other GT members to a rank, as well as myself. I will go with Captian for now. I have no Military experience, so if there is a more appropriate rank, let me know.

These Captains should be members who have been in for awhile and understand the strategy I am about to lay out (which is basically SuperJude's plan from the beginning of these matches).

GROUND FORCES SERIES OF EVENTS DURING MATCHES

Five Minute Arming Period

1. There is a 5 minute delay in action to provide players to arm up or get Helis. All GTs during this period should spread out in seperate directions in order to arm up the fastest way possible We all can agree that with a full room it can be difficult to find weapon spawn points for everyone, so DO NOT follow each other around during the 1st 5 minutes.

2. With one minute left before action (4 min. into the match) it is time to find your captains. The way to do this (and it only works with blips on) would be to press 'Start' and go to your map. Zoom in to the playing area and find 4 teammate dots that are together and are NOT moving. Those dots will be your four captains. Once you have found them, make your way to them as quickly as possible. Once there, take up a defensive position. NOTE: The captains may ask you to move to another spot. Please follow orders.

During the Action

Once the action starts, there are a couple of things to keep a consideration for:

1. STAY TOGETHER! Not so close to each other that Pilots can mow ppl down 2 and 3 at a time, but close enough so that we are all fighting the same Helis at all times. If you die, arm up and return to the field of battle as quickly as possible!

2. TAKE COVER! Standing in the middle of the street firing into the air is only gonna get you killed. Keep in mind thatsquatting makes it MUCH harder for the Pilots to see GTs in that it takes the dot off our heads. Combining the squat with hiding in bushes and the like helps as well. Finding a tall object to circle around as you fight is also a good method (stev150's method in post above).

Captain Responsibilities

1. The Captains will be responsible for communicating together and helping new GTs get to where they should be, both before the match and during. This may be difficult at times, but through the Mic (which I am still working on getting working on my new PS3) and/or chat, I think we can provide the GTs with at least some direction in-game. This would require that the Mics be set to Team and that ALL GTs maintain radio silence to keep it free for Captains.

2. Discussing and/or scouting out (ahead of time) possible positions that we can defend effectively.

WHO ARE THE CAPTAINS?

I would like to go ahead and name SuperJude one captain now, assuming he is willing. I will talk with him to see if he wants to name a Captain. That would be three. For the fourth Captain, I think we should vote, actually. Like I said, I have no military experience and while we may be trying to style this after the Army, it is NOT the Army...lol

If we DO happen to need two matches to get everyone in, each match will have 2 Captains.

All of this is NOT to make these matches more serious. It is simply an idea to help the GTs organize, which is hard when it may be diferent ppl week to week. Doing things this way, new GTs, as long as they read the thread, will have a better idea of what we are doing going into their first match.

So, everyone tell me what you think of this. Only 51 hours to game time, so quicker is better! biggrin.gif

Thats a brilliant idea, i didn't think of captains it'd work for defainte. SuperJude & ChristopherD as captains i think, as they always seem to me as the guys that take the game more serious compared to others. I really love the idea and it would be great to see it come into effect straight away.

Why not just use the top four names on the list, as I assume these have been playing the longest, namely yourself, sammy, explicitmo and SJ?

They're all fairly well established players, and new players (note. not n00b) will probably need their hand held. I appreciate there may be better shooters (I'm looking at you Stev), but these players may be a bit too gung-ho to be captains.

Just my thoughts...

Agree'd. I've also noticed Chris doesnt tend to die much, so he's strategically switched on when it comes to these matches. For a captain it's not nessescarily people that get kills, it's people that will set an example and communicate.

My english is not good enough to be a captain... besides that I only participated in 3 games yet.

I'm more of a scout though. You know, find good locations for us to fight the choppers... everybody followed me to that rotten building in Broker the last time and we did pretty good there then. Due to all those TW's I know L.C. pretty good, so I'm able to find decent locations on the fly, that I can suggest in game over the mic then.

well at least pilots have a skill... i mean cmon, last time i saw you played AA cause your ground game was so aweful and even then there were people tearing you apart... when I (a pilot) asked you to give me a one on one (ground game AA off) you said no and refused to do it, I guess youre the chickensh*t

Not to mention the fact half the people you try to hurl your childish insults at are by far younger than you, sad life my friend

Learn how to play, grief and get women then come back, you will have earned your place on this forum

I wasn't talking about me, I was talking about the pilot on the ground that was going around without the Ground people knowing which I thought was a pretty nice trick. There are other people in the game expect you and me.

I really wanna switch it around between pilots and ground people, most of you don't know but stev is a pretty good pilot

Yep, totally down to captain. While I definitely get "into it" on the mic what with the trash talk and cursing and Wagner music, I also manage to get some kills here and there and I'd like to think my strategy is sound since, as Chris said, it's all about having the right weapons, the right location and enough gunfire to damage the chopper quickly. Even if they choose to leave and get health/another chopper it's still that much more time we aren't being shot at by that particular pilot.

I'm always looking for nice cover or a building to enter that is also near the key spawn points which in order of importance are M4, Sniper Rifle and RPG, though a case could be made for Sniper Rifle, M4, RPG in order of importance.

What I found amusing about LIN's video wasn't the person running amongst the ground forces, it was LIN flying around in a Maverick, unable to shoot and still not getting shot down. Hilarity!

ETA: Good stuff arzonist, way to make me feel retarded! Had a kill right there and fell for the old Okie Doke!

So since its so close to game time, I am thinking Mr. Owl and gta_lad for the other Captains. They seem to always be there for this and aren't antagonistic (like some here...lol) assuming they are willing. If not, we can determine the other two captains in-game.

Assuming that the PSN is back up by then. (for those that don't know, Playstation Network has been down for over 3 hours now... confused.gif )

@The Captains: I will be on by 2pm EST (7pm GMT & 11am LA time) so if I see you on, will invite you to a chat and we can (real quick) get on the same page, as it were.

Will also have my mic working by then (hopefully).

While I'm pleased you chose me to be a captain I must decline since I prefer to stay hidden and snipe from a distance so having people sticking by me would give me away. Also giving people orders while looking through a scope isn't a good idea.

But if you don't mind I would like to be invited into the chat to find out what the game plan is and to offer my input.

As Owl said thank for choosing me but I'm also gonna decline as I feel that I'm getting better with a sniper rifle and I'm goona start keeping my distance but thanks for picking me anyway smile.gif

What's funny is Owl, gta_lad and myself all seem to have the same sort of strategy, which is basically arm up and find a nice spot to shoot while everybody else remains in a cluster biggrin.gif

Yes, we've all shot down choppers too, of course and I do believe the three of us consistently have been in top 3 for kills (well till Stev showed up!) cool.gif

We may only need 2 captains, all things considered. If not, we'll do as we always do and play it by ear!

Ok.

Here is another reason I thought you guys would be good for this. I'm drinking Evan Williams, so bear (bare, MrJohn?...where is that guy when you need him...lol) with me...

I am thinking that if all ground troops go to one spot like we have proposed, that we designate 3 or 4 good snipers to take up positions throughout whatever area we choose. Then, the rest of the GTs job is to basically to keep the Helis busy and off of the snipers and to, at least, set those bitches on fire!

Not that we commit suicide or anything, but do what we can to keep the Helis engaged with M4 & RPG fire to give the snipers a better opportunity for a clean shot. This way, the Pilots won't know (even if they DO read this) which of us is sniping so even if a sniper dies, he should be able to go get another s. rifle and get back in the action with as little confrontation as possible.

So, actually, I had planned on Mr. Owl heading up the sniper team and getting them in position, coordinating when one dies if necessary, etc.

I think SuperJude would be very good at coordinating the 'Distractors' Company (I am WAY more into this than I should be...lmao), keeping ppl together, covering an area where someone has died, etc.

Then I figured that SCAR and I could basically fall in wherever we are needed. @SCAR: 1st, didn't realize you have been sniping. 2nd, the patience it takes to play a match like 'The Hunted' is exactly what it takes to pay attention enough to know where to go in these matches without anyone showing you.

--------------------------------------------------

I am not sure, at all, that the strategy above will work. Whether it does or not, I hope we can come up with some ways of really competing with these f*cking Pilots. I have enjoyed these matches immensely, but gotta say that my competetive nature is getting the better of me and I am not sure how many more of these matches I can take when all we do is get our asses kicked time after time. In this, Lungsburnin and I are in complete agreement (not to mention that the Pilots might finally get bored with this).

So, above is what I would like to try this week. If it doesn't work, then we come back and draw up another plan. THIS will keep these matches interesting and competitive (and make it worth me keeping up with, tbh).

The Match this week might not go over like I am talking about cuz its so close to game time (21 hours to match!), but I hope that SCAR & Owl will read this before then and agree to, at least for this next match, play Captains.

--------------------------------------------------

**DISCLAIMER** I was recently invited to join a 'Local' gang. I had two very different reactions to this. The first was my usual reaction of "Yea, Right!" Pleeeaaaassee.....My second reaction was, to my surprise, well, happy. You know, I have built a reputation here at the forums, and someone had seen and recognized...therefore the invite. This got me to thinking about my own GTA addiction. So, I hhereby state in public...I will no longer make fun of GTA Clan/Gang members, cuz I got absolutely NO room to talk!
