The matches are held every Saturday at 5pm EST (10pm GMT). Whoever shows up online at the time of the match will be invited to play. Nice and simple.

And yeah! FullHD makes GTAIV a whole new game! Couldnt believe how much of a difference it was when I switched from a standard TV to a 37" FullHD LCD...

I just went and bought a '50 ethernet cable (I had one that I had set aside for when I wanted to try wiring my PS3 but it dissapeared---I live with teenagers) and all I have to say is....

 

OMG!

 

I cannot even explain in words the f*cking difference!

 

Played for a cpl or 3 hours and...

 

"Disconnected from server"...no.

"You have been disconnected from one or more players"...not once.

Did I get thrown into a race already in progress? Nope.

 

Did I wait for a match to load for (literally) 7 minutes (I once timed it)...DID NOT HAPPEN!

 

And game-play itself?!?

 

I recently posted in the MP section, in a thread about the idea that the player with the fastest frame rate/internet connection usually is the player that wins, that I NEVER get to the first turn first in a race...not anymore! out of maybe 15 races, I hit the first corner first 12 times...and second for the rest!

 

The cars are now so fast, I have to readjust how I play!!!

 

And Deathmatch??? While AA on seemed pretty much the same, my AA off skills have gone through the roof!! I swear to God, I was getting kills without even looking...I always let off a few rounds when threatened and want to go for cover...tonight those shot were friggin killing ppl!!!!

I have a feeling that the lag that most participants of this thread experience in these matches were due to my connection (or lack of it), so i am hopeful that the next match will be much better.

Sounds like u had a few issues before the new cable...

I always used the PS3 with a normal ethernet cable that goes from my modem to the PS3 (8mb speed) and I never had major issues (I don't use a router cause I'm scared my GTA MP experience would change)...

Well I'm glad u r happy now.

I might need to get a faster one too then... I have a 16k DSL connection since a few weeks. I upgraded it from a former 6k and also got a new router along with it. Ever since then, even though the up- and downloads are fast as hell, it seems like I get DC'd more often than before. Dunno what's going on, I tested the IP and it's A LOT faster than before... think a cable could help here aswell? And how much do those cost??

Of course a wired connection is much more stable than wireless ones! WLAN gets interference from cellphone signals, temperature drops and rises and even from the magnets in speakers. I wired my PS3 the day I got it online and never heard from someone I'd lag or something in that direction...

I'm lucky in that most of the time my connection kicks ass. I run wireless but I have a decent router and the PS3 is less than 10' from the router. I host most of my own games and lag is generally not an issue.

 

However, there is a difference. I have games where everything is utterly smooth but then I'll run into games where there is just enough lag to make it annoying, especially if you're a player like myself and count on timing (time it takes for a car to get to you, time it takes shooting headshots to get a kill, etc.)

 

Maybe I need to check out the extra long cable, couldn't hurt right?

 

The lag wasn't just you Chris but it could have been a factor. Of course, after you left the next couple games were still just a touch laggy and let's not forget that often times a helicopter firing off rounds close to the action creates some pretty annoying lag, regardless of host or game type.

 

I mean, a pilot within SMG range just slowly hovering is no harder to kill than somebody in a car but when you add the lag, by the time you actually fire a shot, they've moved and you've been mowed down. Quite annoying. Can't wait to see if there is a real difference this weekend!!!

 

Nice to see some of the TW guys showing up, good lot of gamers you all are.

 

We also tend to play some regular TDM once we're done with the pilot matches, so Saturdays have been a lot of fun GTA wise.

Yeah, I think I joined them last Saturday because I was late for the actual airships vs. ground forces game... 10 PM GMT can't be right, since I was on at that exact time and you were already having the afterparty games.

 

I'm not really into those "blips all" TDM's anymore though... it's too much running in and getting either killed or kill somebody and too much use of the wall/corner glitch aswell.

Yeah, that's the point. The aim is 99.9% important... not too much the use of brain.

 

I played a lot of games like that and would consider myself as a decent to good shooter... but meanwhile instead of giving me a thrill, it just gives me a headache from doing the same htings over and over. I also like realism quite a lot, so I don't see too much of a sense in knowing the exact position of your enemy all the time and having shootouts by moving yourself from left to right a few times to dodge bullets ( ).

The turf war mode offers a perfect setting for blips team, caus you have certain spots wehre you need to go and you know that you will meet enemies there. Also you can choose to attack or defend and can be a stealthy lil' f*cker, just like on a real battlefield.

But it's probably pretty hard for you to join the TW's anyway, caus we mostly never start those before 10PM on weekdays and on the weekend, which makes it quite difficult for your work schedule I guess...

 

Anyway, I love these games here aswell... gotta think twice about the next move you make all the time or you will get sliced by the heli cannon. Just double check the times for the next one please, 10PM GMT can't be right caus you were done the last time when I joined at that exact time.

So the 50 is a sign for the lenght of the cable? I thought it was the speed it is up to...

I got a regular cable ATM... I never trusted that W-Lan sh*t.

Anyway, what time zone are you in when you talk about 5PM your time? I can calculate it myself then to make sure I'm in the next edition of "GF vs. As"...

 

EDIT: Oh just figured, it's EST. It is 5 hour difference then... did you start earlier last time?

Well, here it is. Like I said before, I am still learning this stuff and am still taking footage with a handi-cam but the quality is pretty good (if you hit the 'HD' button) considering. Getting a whole new computer set-up at home by the end of april and will be able to record in actual HD. Can't wait! Anyway, I think this one is better than the previous one, and gives the Pilots a lot more exposure. And I have GOT to stop giggling like a maniac while I am recording! lol

Last month, UK clocks went forward one hour to BST (British Summer Time).

 

GMT time remains a constant, so ALL UK is currently GMT+1.

 

So if Chris is 5 hours behind London time, he will be GMT-4 at the moment.

 

Make sure you guys know which one you are referring too, cos GMT AIN'T LONDON TIME.

 

 

Paris is one hour ahead of London in the time zones.

 

Paris is NORMALLY GMT+1

 

During the summer, Paris is GMT+2.

 

Any country that uses daylight saving's time will adjust with GMT. eg. You'll increment or decrement one on GMT depending on whether your clocks go forward or back. GMT is a constant.

Ok. I don't get it and give up. I am relinquishing control to participants! It is up to you guys to figure out what time this match is in your Time Zone.

The color tint seems a bit off, but that's probably because you used a camera instead of a capture card.

Chris seeing as you have a new wire to connet to the internet, If you host, can you invite me first so i see players join cause ive noticed i'm unable to see players in game aswel as having a sh*tty strict router. (yes i need a new one.)

 

Also im on my brothers PSN for the week, so if i add you on that, you can delete 'BatesAvfc' & replace it with my current PSN.

 

& the lag issues before for the air units im pretty sure is because of the amount of people using mics. I noticed when i turned mine off things got alot less messy with lag.
