Final Thoughts on GTA IV Pc ver

Well i now tell yout that i didn't bought the game i took it off torrent sites. Instaled SP3 for it ( ONLY FOR IT ), instaled MS games and made an account ONLY FOR IT, waited to download 14 gb ONLY FOR IT. The result was satisfing though. I'm running the game at 1024X720, low to medium, with vew and trafic density at 30. Getting most 25 fps and i have slowdowns every 1 or 1/2 hours where my fps drops to 5 and after this it comes back at 25.

 

I have to say that this gme is runing good on my system ( on the sig ) i am not complaining about it except some things that usualy piss me of:

 

1. R* this is a PC version right ?? So why the f*ck am i seeing a xbox 360 controller in the CONTROLS option??? PC means keyboard+mouse R* not controllers

 

2. Shadows are horrible

 

3. Car control

 

4. To few cheats

 

Apart from this i have nothing to say and as for the patch problem who knows ??

 

EDIT: i forgot something>> i have some memory leeking/missing textures in one of my safehouses

im playin gta 4 on maxed out details, havin fun, just shadows/textures that disappear everytime u shake ur camera are pissing me off.

Agreed. The way these guys wax lyrical about this game, you'd think it runs like greased silk. The most pathetic fact is that people with incredibly fast systems are saying they're perfectly happy with the 40 - 60 fps they're getting. Considering the spec of some of their PCs, they should be enjoying frame-rates of 100 or more, on average.

We testing this game with much fight/troubles/crashes and R* dances their money off.

this patch was not a game fix.

Well I swear the 181.00 drivers from NVIDIA were a miracle cure because before this game would STUTTTTTTTTER like a motherf*cker on my Q6600/4gig ram/GTX 260 computer but when I installed them GOD it's like a totally different game for me it runs smooth as butter (well not as smooth as it should on my rig but 40-60 fps anyway) man it really changes my opinion on this game but still this game needs more issues fixed like the sound problem that the patch introduced me to, luckily restarting the game fixes it when it happens though.

I agree with the 181.00 however, it appears this doesnt work for an awful lot of people only a handful.

 

Ive done a lot of reading on other forums of how this driver has helped with other games, regardless of what people say about it being simply the addition of openGL.

Reality Check: for those who keep on hoping for a perfect patch, dream on

 

R* wont bother anymore to fix the bugs or at least the problem will juz be forgotten or they make an illusion that they do something about it by releasing so call "dummy" patches which doesnt does sh*t to bring ur hopes up so you wont ask for refund, cause it werks perfectly for those with high performance super pc, For user with crappy or standard pc, itz juz too bad, i mean GTA IV was a hit!  they make billions of dollars, and is not only for pc, the game is on ps3 and xbox 360. You think they really givez a sh*t about the little bugs for user with standard or low performance pc, Imagine if u were in their shoes, they probably feel good making tonz of money and dont give a f*ck on the minor issues. They won't waste their time on a successful product cause itz already successful? duh, instead they used that time to produce new games or whatever that makes them rich.

 

Reading you I wonder if you ever used a PC besides to type . Memory leak problem and lack of AA there is no hardware problem is software related.

And just to inform you I couldn't run the game not even on a system with WinXP-64 , 8Gb RAM and an INTEL CORE I7-920 2.66 GHZ ,ON A GIGABYTE GA-EX58 M/B AND G-Force 8800 GTS 512 MB and still wonder why.

 

So to speak that game not run cause of low end computers, there other reasons that no run so wait for a new patch.

Thats what I had earlier, unless R* redo all the code (not gonna happen), the game will require a high-end pc to run it. A patch will clear the freezes and some little issues no sound after patch.

Agree dude...My stock Q9300 and 9600GT can handle crysis 1280x1024 on very high 30-50 fps (custom config) but this GTA crap can hit 20fps easily when heavy rain strikes with my custom commandline:

Render very high

view distance 11

detail distance 11

shadow 0

traffic density 45

 

R*, if you want to satisfy your customers please don't lie about MIN REQUIREMENT.

I have never had a single error, crash, memory leak, or framerate issue and this is at max details on an ATI 4870 1gb. 25-35fps average, with the benchmark saying 45. I'm very pleased with the game.

texture issues, Windows Live, gta Social Club, locked gamepad support, having to make a phone call to access multiplayer....for a potentially great game there certainly are a lot of annoying factors
