[Q] Stopping those Cowardly peds running.

lol i remember someone mentioned that the natives are specific to one ped. and that he told the guy attempted to script:

 

it would take a f*ck load of code lines to work arround that.

The problem is, is that the native function GET_CLOSEST_CHAR is either slow or random, as in, it doesn't always give you the closest, but sometimes just one that's within specified radius.

Sometimes it gives you the same ped (or car, for GET_CLOSEST_CAR), so the script has to loop over many times to get all the peds (or cars).

 

Oh and if you're familiar with LUA, check my function that uses GET_CLOSEST_CAR:

lol i wish i knew Lua. i can only do such minor edits.

 

if i send you 2 small scripts to look at can you solve the reason for ppl's crashing error: Unknown Native Get_Player_ID

The native is "GET_PLAYER_ID".

Yea iris quite a few of us have been tryin to do the same.. I wondered about action table but theres not enough info for me or I'm jus not knowledgeable enough to understand it, simply..

I tried at first doing what you did, changing values on gunshotfired in shockingevents, no change then I said go a step further, I basically deleted all text/values in the file, the game was unchanged so, that pretty much tells me it doesnt seem to have any real affect, like some other files from san andreas, I mean this game has no weapon skillz, bicycle skillz etc so ...

 

I did it the hard way but I did get them to stop reacting w/ panic to meleeing someone to death, which I simply did by deleting ALL the refs of "murderrunaway" in pedpersonality that was an insane amount of editing.. Now they either come over and join in the fight or simply ignore whats going on ..

 

In my game I have also "civilianized" the cops, that was done by changing the cops type to civilian, I think Res or someone gave me that tip awhile back and I went a step further, well to make it a lil more comical I had tagged some cops as female so there was a female ped in the cop car and later jus had it where soma the male cops run away screaming like a female ped, lol ..

 

I have cops w/ out weapons, swat are posed to look like they have weapons but dont, no cops shoot me, even in helis .. Helis usually fly above or land randomly in the city or even drop into the water..

So I still get stars, even all 6 but no cops bust or shoot me, they may follow me on foot.. I can also fight melee w/ them, thats kinda cool ..

 

I'm still at a loss on peds not fleeing tho, turn.gif

you know what? this "ped fleeing" business has got me tied up in so many other sh*ts that's just taking over everything else... dam rockstar and there ways...

There was this mod where this guy was able to spawn body gaurds that attack anyone that attacks player.

 

if that's possible maybe we can somehow change it arround so that we spawn haters that attack player?

Well I had another vid and now another one I spose a lil more improved, not EVERY SINGLE PED acts "normal" but you can see many here do..

Watch HD, I prefer fullscreen too, see abit better..

 

I normally include info in my description boxes on what I did etc .. not detailed but ..

 

I havent kept track of enough changes to ensure I know exactly what causes what, there have been so many I've made.

 

( I have way too many "cop-peds" on the street at times, sometimes 50 walkin streets but are harmless)

Its interesting Iris that you say "ignore" cuz mostly thats what peds do to me, as I shoot around them, shoot THEM, as you see in viddy.. They dont really do anything, SOME in cars or whatnot that has weapons will shoot back but I am more often finding peds more aggressive when I melee their car or ram it..

BTW, making players ignore you is easy, SET_EVERYONE_IGNORE_PLAYER.

But that's boring, we just want them to be less cowardly.

Are you talking about using that native SET_EVERYONE_IGNORE_PLAYER on peds in a lua script.? Do they do ignore you then..?..If that is the case, I beg you to post a script to do it dude..! icon14.gifcookie.gif

I have a couple of modders looking into this ped fleeing behaviour, to see if they can come up with a solution. But alas, so far, nobody has been able to completely stop the peds fleeing in terror or generaly ignoring the player and events.. Im sure it will happen soon though.. confused.gif

 

Alice 0.2 should be a big help..

not sure how far the research on a solution for the fleeing peds has gotten but I contacted a kid experienced with scripting who scripted his own zombie mod in which the peds that attack you dont run away. He told me to keep them from fleeing that you must change all the peds relationships to relationshipgroup.player. Im not quite sure how to do that but if anyone does give it a try.

then they don't care what you do

But note that getting and setting relationships doesn't work with patch 1.0.4.0, for some reason.

Only for 1.0.4.0? That's interesting, i wonder why? I mean obviously it's something in the patch, but maybe Aru's scripthook can't interface properly with something in the relationship natives? Or is it just in the .net scripthook you mean?

I haven't tried the C++ scripthook, and I also haven't tried other patches.

 

But I use the .NET scripthook and patch 1.0.4.0, so I do know it doesn't work with that combination. And I tried using the SET_CHAR_RELATIONSHIP_GROUP native to set the RelationshipGroup, which didn't work either.

So I was looking into calming down the "fleeing peds" as I recently installed the gta4 snowmod and the updated materials file means there is a lot of loss of vehicle traction. I was getting tired of the screaming morons running around all the time.

 

What I did was change

 

1. AMBIENT.DAT

 

# ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

# Anim Timings

# ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

SetTiming_Wander(8.0,0.1,0.3)

SetTiming_RoadCross(0.5,0.1,0.5)

SetTiming_ShockEventHurryAway(0.5,0.1,0)

SetTiming_ShockEventInquisitive(0.5,0.1,0)

SetTiming_ShockEventWatch(0.5,0.1,0)

SetTiming_ShockEventGoTo(0.5,0.1,0)

SetTiming_Flee(0,0,0)

 

2. SHOCKINGEVENTS.DAT

 

Copy the SEXYCAR data line and replace the MADDRIVER line, then change the ranges values of both the audio and visual to 0

MadDriver 0 0 0 0 2 4 20 9 1 0 0 0

 

DONE!

 

 

I am not sure exactly what part of the procedure makes the difference, I just know it works for me. If anyone else tests it feel free to report results.

I don't think there are any mods for that right now, I could develop one for it but the AI in the game isn't very advanced when it comes to driving, so if you made them speed, then within 30 seconds they will have run into something, instead of going around it.

I've Developed the Script for you, although, I find that it may make the game a little dull since they will not react to your actions, so I've made it where you can disable the mod In-Game by typing "apm" in the game .net console.... It's all in the configurable .INI file.

 

You can download it here, you will need a .NET loader if you do not already have one,
