Extreme 4wding

Hey There, I'm new. First post biggrin.gif

I'm trying to make an extreme 4wd in GTA:SA and I can't seem to get it right =/

POLRANGER 4600.0 10120.0 3.0 0.0 0.0 -0.6 85 1.15 1.35 0.54 5 190.0 75.0 140.0 4 D 6.2 0.60 0 35.0 1.1 0.06 1.0 0.30 -0.25 0.5 0.25 0.27 0.23 25000 4028E020 107B880F 0 2 0

This is what I have so far. I like using the polranger because.. It's cool.

I like some weight, because I go 'bushbashing' and .. 'roadbashing?' ALOT and I like moving things out of the way. I've found thr car doesn't spin out as much when colliding with things like powerpoles with a higher turning weight so I've upped that considerably too.

I need grip, because I'm making a 4wd.. I don't want to climb full vertical buildings but anything you've ever seen in any extreme 4wd videos I do want to be able to climb. The settings I have it at now climb very well to my liking.

I want the end result to be an ultimate climbing, heavy, 'bashy?' machine that feels the same as the original polranger or ranger.

Apart from minor changes to handling which are always happening until I get it PERFECT I have one fairly significant issue.

It gets too much airtime.

i go over a hill with speed (or not) and i jump too far.

This is pretty dang cool for some I'm sure, but on this vehicle I want to eliminate it.

I want maximum contact with the surface I'm driving on.

Can anyone help?

Thats an updated version I've tweaked a little.

I will work on it as soon as I can.

Much appreciated! Thankyou.

Just for anyone interested heres my patriot too

PATRIOT 4600.0 10120 3.0 0.0 0.0 -0.6 80 1.15 1.35 0.5 5 190.0 75.0 110.0 4 P 8.0 0.50 0 30.0 1.5 0.08 4.0 0.35 -0.35 0.5 0.5 0.28 0.25 1500000 00008008 0073000F 0 2 0

I can't believe no-one has done (or perhaps just publicly done) any extreme 4wd handling.cfg yet!

I have improved a bit the Police Rancher setting, to make it easier to drive, and more "realistic", but with the same offroad abilities.

POLRANGER 4600.0 24000.0 3.6 0.0 0.0 -0.65 85 1.15 1.35 0.54 5 190.0 60.0 200.0 4 D 9.5 0.89 0 35.0 1.1 0.12 2.5 0.28 -0.25 0.5 0.10 0.27 0.23 25000 4028E020 11f18803 0 1 0

I don't think it's good, tell me what you think.

Thats exactly what I was looking for loulou221, thanks so much.

I lowered the "mass z" variable by .20 to fix some issues with tight handbrake turns and whatnot (rolling) and this fixed them.

It's much more realistic now, thanks again!

Can you tell me what exactly you did?

I see changes but I'm not quite sure how they helped.

And what would I change to make it just the slightest bit more responsive (for road use)?

You're welcome. I changed the turning mass, to make the car feel heavier. If you want to have a more responsive car, change this value (decrease).

I have also increased the inertia (to 200) and decreased the acceleration(to 60), therefore the car is now slowlier and more realistic.

I have improved the brakes (more powerful : 9.5 with a 0.89 brake bias).

I changed the suspension settings, now it's softer and more realistic.

And I have just enabled some handling flags, but I don't think it was necessary.

Try these settings for your Patriot and tell me the results.
