Recommended Posts

I played GTA 4 on WinVISTA 32bit and it only had averaged of 15 fps.

Today I reinstalled my operating system. Now I use WinXP 32 bit and the game is running smooth. I have an average of 30 fps.

My settings:

1680x1050

view distance: 26

shadow density: 2

details: 31

vehicles: 28

Only difference between my system and yours is your cpu, I have a e6600 dual core 2.4ghz, everything else the same.

I tried overclocking this cpu with the gigabyte 965p-ds3 rev 3 and it couldnt handle it, I got it to 3.0ghz and o/c the 800mhz ramm to 830 and upped the voltage to 1.45 and it was to unstable. This was a time when an dual core was my powerful than quad. Those days are over now with all the updates. Quad kick ass. Wish I had you cpu sad.gif

Its widely accepted that you'll get a better gaming experience in XP rather than Vista.

Well...the differences in Vista64 and XP are marginal if you have a decent computer and at least 4GB of memory. You will have to upgrade to Windows 7 (Vista+) when DirectX11 rolls around...assuming it has better coding than DX10.

Yeah, but most people don't have a "decent computer" with atleast 4GB of RAM. I personally think Vista is a nice OS, after a Service Pack. But I just use XP because of compatibility with some workbench programs I use for university work.

In any case, XP does use less resources for games than Vista.

I have Windows 7 and the game wont even install due to compatibily let alone play.
