Use this tool (MagicIV) to be able modifying files: visualSettings.dat, timecyc.dat and other ones without game exiting on startup

I couldent play a game in 800x600 or even 1024x768.

Im playing GTAIV in 1280x800. With medium/high,

I have the 8600GT its temps never go that high. And im scoring over 25 fps. bout 20~30 outdoors, 30~50 indoors.

And your card is very hot. I don't know why its that hot. Im using a laptop. And its temps are 78c for CPU 80 for GPU, when playing most games, but max is 80c for CPU and 83c for GPU.

And I have my 8600GT oc'd to 750/750.

But good luck with that.

Be careful not to boil your GPU at 101c. I don't think that is a normal temp, maybe you should get some laptop cooling stand for when you are using it, they dramatically improve temperatures, or so I've heard.

I agree, way way way too hot.

I get paranoid when my gpu goes over 75c. I try to keep it at about 55-70 for heavy gaming.

I know its a laptop but seriously 85c is the roof.

Woah!!! your graphics card is about to boil. I would suggest underclocking it a bit since you only need it to go 4 more degrees before the system shuts itself off. The hottest my 8600M GS ever got was 82 degrees max. Now I have a small fan placed by my laptop and I turn it on whenever playing a game and it hits about 73 degrees max and 30-45 when at desktop

At least u got 19 FPS, with my T3200 2.00GHz, 4GB RAM and 9300M GS i have 15fps average.

You don't meet the minimum requirements on the processor because you have dual-core not core 2 duo and the 9300m gs is a lot weaker than the 7900gs(minimum)

What story are you trying to tell us?

How to run on the lowest possible settings and still get terrible performance?

This thread confuses me. confused.gif

Lol. Isnt that obvious?

He says he only needs gameplay. Wich means he basically sh*ts on quality. He just want to play GTA IV as fluently as possible with his computer. And the title says "+7..+10 FPS" wich means, he increased his FPS by 17 fps.

I guess his PC is ultra bad. Hes GPU is a 8600M GT wich is the notebookversion of, and a bit slower than the 8600 GT wich again is slightly slower than a 7900 GT wich R*s minimum requirements. And we all know that R*s recommendet requirements are barely enough to play GTA IV good.

@kbps: I give you respect for fighting for the game to run playable. 20 fps is a pain for me. But you can play it.

Lol at the guy who posted "let me google that for you" xD didnt know that one yet. Saved to favourites.

Dude, I have a laptop with the same specs as you.

Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0 Ghz.

8600M GT [Dox Optimised 180.84.1]

2 GB RAM

and I play it at the same settings but with render/texture on medium. I get ~30 fps with spikes to 40 on beaches and drops to 20 in crowded areas. My temps never go above 70 on the card, and the processor temps never go above 50-60 while in-game.

Something is up with your card!

101C is extremely high for gaming. I suggest you either bring it in for repairs, or if warranty has expired then replace the thermal pads/paste and buy a laptop cooler cool.gif
