GTA IV achievements (PC)

I have GTA IV for PC and I got it finally working pretty well, but the problem is that achievements are not working. I have Game for Windows Live account and I always login when I play GTA IV, but I never earn any achievements even when I truly accomplish it.

 

Anyone have problem like this? DO you get achievements or no?

The only problem Ive had was when I formated my hdd. I lost all my multiplayer achievements for some reason?!?

Otherwise they work fine.

Many player have a similar problem. Me too. Some achievements stay locked... There is no solution at this time. In another forum i saw a LIVE employee writing, they are working on it.

Ive lost a number of Achievements, when I contacted Micrsoft about it, the only reply I got was:

 

As I understand it, you have not received or gained an achievement. Unfortunately, Microsoft cannot verify whether your gamerscore was tallied correctly or make a correction. If you think that you unlocked an achievement and did not receive the appropriate credit to your gamerscore, we suggest that you try to unlock the achievement again. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your time and understanding.

 

Short: Live with it, freak. Replay the game.

 

Oh well, replying to complete the story, completing in less than 30 hours, metting all strangers, etc etc... heck if im going to reply the entire game for worthless points anyways. Im going OFFLINE until it works, anything else is a waste of time.

Strange, I unlock all the same achievements I did with XboX. Using same account.

I did the "under the radar" achievement yesterday, it's still locked, and I can't go under the bridges again to unlock. Yet another bug in the game.

Then again, whats the use for achievement, except for bragging? Why does a single player game have to be online and connected to the internet? Why do you have to have TWO accounts online just to start the freaking game? Why why why?

It's a good idea to test your Windows Live connection by pressing Home and going into your games and achievements. If you have problems accessing them then you should try quitting the game and restarting. If you still have problems then wait awhile...or you won't get your unlocks.

Not everyone feels the need to brag about these things, some people just like to do them. You should'nt judge everyone by the way you think/are.

The website appears to have just stopped updating for me at all. I've had at least 2 not show up in the last 3 or so days.

Not sure if the same thing is happening to my brother. He said he'd passed a few that weren't showing too, but at least one has come up since.

 

If we pass an achievement and it's unable to connect at the time, does it update later (either by itself or when we get another)? I'll be annoyed if I have to play it through again just to get some of the storyline ones.

 

Edit: OK, I'm now convinced the website is the problem for me... I just refreshed a page showing a comparison between my acheivements and my brothers, and it came up with zero for both of us. I loaded his profile and it says he has no games... A few clicks around and it's all back to showing the right info. MS database issues causing people grief?
