I purchased GTA4 twice!

If I download a game, I did not sign any contract with the developing company or the middleman (shopkeeper) like when you buy a game you agree to have the rights for a copy of it. (both parties)

So a downloader cannot be put to charge because there was no violation of contract or such

Rockstar OWN the game they paid millions to develop the game when you take a copy of the game you have no rights or permissions to do so therefore it is STEALING end of story. You have no rights to that software so why you feel you do is beyond me. You are only a pirate if yoiu hack your leg and hand off replace it with a hook and peg leg, get on a f*cking galleon and sale the Caribbean whilst feeding a f*cking parrot called polly on your shoulder and go "Yarrrrrrrrrr keel haul them".

 

It makes me laugh the way thieves try and justify stealing what they have no right too. Oh I downloaded this game found out it was crap but hey I am going to keep it and play it because I have a right to it !!!!!!!!!!! why do you have a right to it ?

I do have other things to do you know, like play GTA 4 which I am loving.

Anyone receiving the software from the person who DID buy the game would not have been party to the contract, so they would not be subject to any penalty.

they should care. the return customer concept is a big one. just ask sierra online. sierra online released two very buggy games in the same year - pissed off two different factions of their customer base - now the company no longer exists. and it is not like they were a little firm. they were a major player in the industry with a great history and track record....kinda like the history we hold on to with rockstar

 

i was in one of the factions (front page sports football pro). for the record, back in the day fps football blew madden out of the water. sierra said they would give full refunds. the problem was they made it near impossible to collect. if your box had a dent in it or your store receipt wasn't the exact width, hight, contrast, font face you could not get your money back.

 

i still say rockstar should just give us free t-shirts to quiet us up

This thread has nothing to do with piracy. I am completely against piracy. I have been supporting PC gaming for many many years. I have purchased every single Valve game, every single Rockstar game and every single id software game, along with other games such as Crysis, COD4 and so on.

Remember, they gave you GTA3 on the PC, was awesome, then Vice City on the PC, was just brilliant, then San Andreas on the PC, which was just the best one out to date.

Grand Theft Auto IV is unplayable for a LOT of people because of Rockstar's piss poor optimization.

 

 

As far as Rockstar being a bad company goes: this is my first Rockstar game I have ever bought. I can guarantee you I will never buy one again.

 

If they optimize to the point that it runs 3 to 4 times better on the low end of the system reqs than it does now, THEN I might consider buying one in the future.

 

I buy all of my valve products. I love them. It's called caring about your customer.

Actually, that reminds me. I was actually given permission by Rockstar to pirate this game as much as I want to. About 10 months ago, I told them that if they wanted me to pirate their game(s), then not to bother replying to my sensible and well-worded question about GTA IV.

 

They didn't reply, and ignored me like they always did, so I now actually have their official permission to pirate their games. I haven't yet used my "license to pirate Rockstar games", but who knows, maybe I'll sell it on eBay or something.

I would have to agree here. Many people pirated the game because of its problems.

Erm no they didn't most people pirated the game because they are cheap arses. You seem to think there is honour amongst thieves, I can tell you there isn't. If Rockstar brought out a patch tomorrow that made the game run at 200fps on a Pentium 3 and 32mb graphics card at 2560 x 1600 the people that stole the game still wouldn't buy it. They would just wait for the patch to be cracked and apply it, because they always seem to be pretty good at coming out with excuses NOT to buy the game.

 

As for you demands :-

 

 

Fix the Shadows

 

What's wrong with them ?  they are exactly the same in the console version which kinda makes sense since this is a console port and we all knew it was going to be a console port.

 

Fix the slow camera

 

Ok even this is a new one on me I didn't know the camera was slow.  Surely that is a matter of opinion I can't say I have thought "my this camera is slow.

 

Fix the memory leak

 

I can't say I have seen any sign of a memory leak here, I have had GTA 4 running for nearly 12 hour stints in windowed mode and it plays as fast at the end of the stint as it does at the beginning. But I will let you have that one and of course if there is a memory link I am sure Rockstar will patch it.

 

Optimise the game for older and newer systems

 

So basically you want them to rewrite the code, you want them to have it running really really great on old hardware and you want it looking absolutely fantastic and running really really great on new hardware.  Would you like the moon on a stick too ?  Personally I think the game runs rather well on old hardware, I have a 2 year old quad with 8800gts and it runs pretty damn well.

 

Dont lock your game, open it, and release an SDK so people can mod GTA4 to their liking

 

ROFL not gonna happen, not in a f*cking month of Sundays and why should Rockstar allow this ?  Hardly any other game allows modding yet for some reason PC gamers think they have a divine right to f*ck up someone else's work.  So you can forget about this EVER happening.

 

Stick in a multiplayer option on the start menu

 

Meh not a big issue to me, oh no I have to go into the single player to play multiplayer.  It is the exact same thing the console users have to do but obviously that isn't good enough for us now is it .. noooooooo we have to be given everything on the plate and then some.

 

Fix the damn controls, let me map my controls to how I want it. I want to use the ENTER key!

 

I personally think the default controls work very well myself.  In fact I haven't changed a single key from their default settings.  However I will give you this one and Rockstar dropped the ball on key customisation the beauty of the PC is that people can customise the game to their way of playing and this can't be done in this version so it should be corrected. 

 

And all the other issues that users are having.

 

Well I haven't seen any "other issues" from my copy of GTA 4 which makes me wonder if it's the game or something else entirely to blame.

 

Release DLC on the PC, and DONT DELAY IT

 

ROFL you think the PC will get DLC oh please we were "lucky" enough to get the game.  There isn't a cats chance in hell the PC will ever get DLC  certainly not the exclusive 360 DLC.

 

In short you can demand all you like it aint gonna happen. We got the port that the PC can financially support, there is a reason why Rockstar spent $100 million on the console version and probably about $1.50 on the PC version.

so your actually admitting that theres no memory leak and gta iv is an al right experience for me.

NO MODDING? why dear, where have you been all these years. every game i know has been tweaked/customized/modded

 

heh funny how r* said the game was fully moddable where as it is not.

 

if your logic is true then why is it that you even have a pc version, heck why do people buy badass rigs, so THEY CAN PLAY AND ENJOY THE EYE-CANDY THAT THIS GAME OFFERS.

Optimise the game for older and newer systems

 

So basically you want them to rewrite the code, you want them to have it running really really great on old hardware and you want it looking absolutely fantastic and running really really great on new hardware.  Would you like the moon on a stick too ?  Personally I think the game runs rather well on old hardware, I have a 2 year old quad with 8800gts and it runs pretty damn well.

"old" hardware would be like my last PC - a Pentium 4 Prescott 3.4GHz with an X800 XT and 1GB of DDR PC3200...and seeing GTA IV's performance on my PC at the moment, I wouldn't even place the game box NEAR that old PC, let alone try and install and run it.
