Rockstar please note this also to NVIDIA .... Come on .. Its imposible to play this game without a driver update.

Man, im sorry to hear that, still appreciate it though. I'm about to go out for the night but i will test them when i get home and let everyone know how it goes if some other people haven't already.

EDIT: well i got 2-3fps higher in the benchmark with this driver, and im using a Pentium 4. so i imagine you Core2 users will get 5-10fps more out of it..

The 7950GX2 was a sort of Nvidia anomaly. Didn't they always have driver issues with that card? Well anyways for GTA IV I've seen a lot of people talk of incompatibilities in general with the 7800\7900 series. Textures not rendering properly and all kinds of strange things.

I've tried the Vista 32bit 181.00 work very nicely. My framrate says 35 fps unlike before it said 37.6. BUT... I had everything to low .

I was lagging bad before but now its not as common, only in some areas of the city at certain weather conditions like fog. But very playable now. Thanks for the post as it helped me and how my specs and details help others. Then again there days I play this game without a flaw and then there are days were there is a lot of lag, frames drop considerably. I guess like I said, it depends where you are in the city.

well these drivers are helping me hold a constant framerate. and its certainly not a placebo-effect, as i am using Xfire's ingame FPS monitor. so dont hate em til uve tried em, if u havnt tried em yet!

Tried these drivers, they suck. caused lock ups in GTA and when watching google video. Also I notice that unlike the 180.84 these drivers do not have predefined nVidia profile for GTA.

Oke .. i finally made a break through...

 

I installed windows xp sp3 on my second harddisk and installated this drivers.

 

I can see finally my desktop so the problem was definitly windows vista related.

 

I'm now installing GTA and i hope i finally can play !!!!!! !

This is ass. I have an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX, a notebook card, and I know nothing about this sort of stuff. I can't see it on the list, and when I try installing the driver it comes up with this:

 

"The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

 

Could someone help me out?

You should look for mobile based drivers. If you look a bit around on this forum you will find them if you look under there.

Guys guys, they are not released. They are released to developers who want to take advantage of the new OpenGL features. There is NOTHING new for us consumers.

opengl 3.0? didn't know the vendors have already released any arb_ extensions.

hehe...finally. maybe quake5 then gets offical support for opengl 3.0,,,just so mabye, in 2012

 

anyway: judging by the facts carmack isn't that interested in this geom.shader stuff and has high hopes for his own so called "octree based mega poly tech" (unlimmited vertices) don't punch me for spelling it so wrong

i installed them on 12-15-08....there ok nothing new,lol same old bs

The 181 drivers did increase FPS! I Just hope it fixes my RESC10 error.

Just a quick newbie post, got GTA for Xmas and installed it last night. Straight away had the keyboard stuck bug, easily fixed by removing the controller but realised that I couldn't see an inch in front of the car! I hunt on the net and found out about the 7900 bug (I have a 7900GS), I downloaded the newer beta drivers however after restarting XP (SP3) I ended up with a tiny res in 4-bit colour!. Same thing occurred after a second re-install. After another google around I found the newer 181.00 drivers and while they certainly don't work perfectly I can now at least play the game. Thought I'd post in case anyone else has the same issue. Main issue remaining is if I try and change any graphics settings after the game has started the I get large glitches across the screen and if I try and get back to the menu I can see the map icons and thats about it, no menu options appear at all. Same thing happens if I flick back to windows and then back to the game. Things can only get better but as I said as least I can play the game!
