More Dissapointed? IV Delay or DLC Delay?

Recommended Posts

You all more dissapointed with the delay on the original release of GTA IV? or the IV DLC getting delayed?

Honestly.. Its annoying with how often Rockstar makes false release dates.. Whoever is making their release date predictions over there should be shot (In online deathmatch). First they did it with the original IV release, and now they did it again with their DLC release.. If anything they should be predicting later dates to be safe and know they can finish it, that way if they complete it, they can give us an early release.

Its just annoying how they torture us. Its like being locked up in jail, and thinking everyday yes, I get out in 3 months, only to go to court and have the judge tell you, you have to serve another 6 months. Wouldnt you rather get a year sentence, and then out of nowhere you find out youre getting an early release?

I just dont like looking forward to something only to realize I have to wait longer than I was originally told and was expecting. I was so hyped up coming into the fall and thinking at the end of November Id be getting the new DLC to play, Now im just not as excited about it. Kind of kills my anticipation. But I know coming closer to the real release date, (lol i hope), the excitment will come back.

I don't even consider the DLC thing a delay. They gave a timeframe for the DLC's release but they never announced a release date. Any time they do that you should be aware that it's up in the air.

The full game, however, had an actual release date in October of 2007. That's something you could have marked on your calender. When they said it wasn't coming out on that date that's an actual delay.

I personally don't begin to really get primed for a release until there's an actual release date. There was a time when I was planning on using vacation time at work to play GTAIV in October and I would have been angry if I'd taken the time and the game didn't come out. Luckily I hadn't made those arrangements. With something like the DLC though I've always known it's pretty tentative until the February 17th release date was announced.

I was mad when GTAIV didn't come out in October of '07. I will be mad if TLaD doesn't come out on February 17th. If it does, no problem.

Never think of a release date as a solid date that can't be changed. That's just what the developer is aiming for... things come up, and push the date back. Those things could be good, too. Just be happy that Rockstar turns out quality products.

Why...

Why hasn't anyone done this? It's the BEST thing to do with game release dates. People will be anxiously awaiting the game, the producers can have plenty of time to finish it.

When they release that they didn't need all that time they can announce an earlier date and have everyone happy. Hooray.

It'd also save the forums all of the complaining...

I don't mind the delays, as long as it means we get a better product. If the quality of a product can be improved by delaying the release and spending more time working on it, then it's good for the player in the end. Plus, I have plenty of other games to play to help the time go by quicker.

Well it's worth the wait in the long run.

It was good that IV got pushed back to April, because if it came out in October 2007 it most likely would've had more bugs, and glitches.

Quit yer whinin', boy. Release dates are never set in stone until the month of the release. When you're a month from release, start complaining, and only when they have to push the date back because of technical issues or unforseen events. I take it you would much rather have a buggy, unfinished piece of crap the day it's promised to you, rather than a polished and tested game a few months later.

Yes, take what they promised on the original release date, then they can work out the bugs, tweak the glitches and I could download the patch later. Besides, theres probably some hilarious bugs and glitches in the game that would be fun to mess around with until they fix the issues.

Its just annoying, I know they have their staff working hard, but they put out dates that they cant possibly meet. If they need more time then give them a longer time frame to get it done. Just dont disclose when they think they should be done to the public. It gives everyone false hopes, and Id rather not anticipate getting something on a paticular date, only to have it pushed back. Id rather know from the start, and they tell me a much later date from the start, that way I dont even have to think about it, or look forward to it, until it actually comes around. Or better yet, gets released earlier than the safe release date they put out.

Christ, you don't know anything about game development, do you? A release date is set at the date they think is most likely to be ready. Guess what? Not everyone has Xbox Live or a PC that can handle the PC version. Not everyone can just download the patch, and those who do would much rather just have a game they can play instead of a broken disc that acts better as a coaster than a game because it wasn't tested, just so they could meet YOUR expected date.

Ever notice the reasons dates are changed? Bug testing. Refining the plot and gameplay. Unexpected problems. Things that, you know, matter. Why the f*ck would anyone buy a game when they hear that the developers were so desperate to hit their release date that they released their game without proper testing and filled with bugs and nowhere near as polished as it could be, on the basis of "We'll just release a patch!"

f*cking impatient idiots.

sure glad I don't have a 360

......did that actually have a purpose? Did you put this in the wrong thread, or did you just want to start a console war? Or maybe you couldn't find a place to put your opinion on the systems and decided to dump it wherever you pleased?

I was more disappointed by the delay of IV because the pent-up desire for new GTA was greater, and six months was a long additional time during which there was also a cutoff of new information. Waiting for the DLC is not as hard while having IV to play.

Also the anticipation is different. Before playing IV I didn't know exactly what to expect so there was a little anxiety of possible disappointment. Now that I know and love IV, I expect the DLC to be more of the same, so it's like going back to a good restaurant a second time I guess.

I was pissed as hell with the original delay of the game, but i really don't believe R* do this to annoy us. I'd rather be pissed off and get a quality product eventually than have R* pander to whining bitches (like myself) and rush out half ass efforts to save face.

I view DLC as a sweet extra which they are not obliged to provide. And so can forgive them for the odd delay as long as they don't royally take the piss and keep us waiting forever.
