LOL... I remember playing San Andreas for the first time, like damn these graphics are sick!! Just amazed at it. Now that I go back, Im like holy sh*t.. The graphics on this game are garbage. Its crazy how it changes like that. I loved San Andreas, like variety in land scapes. All the different property you could buy. Private Airport, Jet hanger, plus a monster truck Shed garage. It was just a bad ass game. I like the customization of cars, but after playing IV on the new gen systems, it makes the game look cheesy. Even though for its time it was a masterpiece.

Though 1 thing San Andreas had, was the best sound track, I doubt it'll ever be topped.

Haha, well, I think you're forgetting Vice City's soundtrack.

It's okay, I'll forgive you.

True vice city did have a good sound track too. But even then I still liked SA's better. Just the variety it had. A lot of that genre of music in SA i didnt really listen to, like even the country station. I found myself listening to that station sometimes too. It just seemed like, to me anyway, that you could put it on any station, and there'd be some good music playing. In IV, theres about 2-3 stations tops and only a few songs on those stations that I can listen to, otherwise I just get the sh*t bugged out of me.

Like when I steal a car, and the music turns on, Im like who had it on this garbage ass station. Idk thats just me. I know everyone has their favorites and personal preferences. But SA's sound track was the most complete to me.

What?

You're not a hardcore GTA fan, are you? All classic GTAs were amazing, and for me they are better than GTA IV. But that really depends on your taste though.

How exactly does that not make him a hardcore fan? I'm a hardcore GTA fan, I have played and beaten every single one, and I say IV is the best. Does that make me wrong? No, it makes me opinionated, just like you.

+1

I am a big GTA fan, and I can easily say that GTA IV is the best one yet. GTA 1 and 2 were kind of the same, except 2 was a little dull... but still great. SA wasn't really my thing with the sort of "Gangsta" story it used which lots of "wanna be gangsta" kids loved. VC to me only had a great soundtrack and a few new vehicle types. GTA 3 was freakin' awesome, I'll always remember my first time playing it and some homeless guy jumping in front of my car. But GTA IV... it just blows me away. It's got realism, something I've always wanted in the GTA series.

i dunno bout you guys, but i never played the 2d gta games (i was a carmageddon fanboy lol ) i do remember fondly playing gta3 on the ps2 when it first came out and being blown away by it, but i never really got into it. same goes with vice city and san andreas. that being said i decided to try out the original gta3 and san andreas, and those games havnt aged well at all lol. the original gta3 is an unplayable piece of sh*t after you spend 30 hours in front of gta4. they were good in there day, but lets face it. the only reason you would play an older gta now is just for pure nostalgia alone.

I still like VC and SA more then GTA4. I finished GTA4 on 360 once and I never felt the urge to do it again. And every once in a while I feel the irresistible urge to play VC and SA. I think I might be a little to much emotionally attached to those games.

Yes, GTA Vice City is a masterpiece and is my favorite GTA. GTA IV's detail is awesome, but after a few days playing you'll get bored anyway.

truly spoken.

of course gta iv makes the graphics in all the other games look terrible, but the gameplay and plot is so much better in vc and sa i think. and the music too!

re: the cars handling. i haven't played the old versions in a while but one thing that annoys me is that, like someone else mentioned, the cars are way too light. you can flip an suv over pretty much by hittin the curve in an unlucky way. and the cars go flying (literally flying) if you're doing 50 mph on a bumpy road. that makes the handling really annoying. compared to, say driving games where the cars are more attached to the road making it easier to steer the vehicle and use the breaks.

definitely. i don't know, maybe i will get into the music on iv more after i've played more, but still i think, compared to vc and sa, it doesn't even come close. like how when you got pushed out in the badlands and got stuck with all these white trash people listening to the country channel, and all of a sudden you catch yourself singin along and sh*t!

one of my theories for why the music isn't as "good" (as in, doesn't make as much sense, hence not making it as good to listen to ingame) in gta iv is that in vc and sa, the character you were playing was more related to the kind of music they had on the radio and the music that was playing at that time. like in vc, you had the 80's vice type of music which just obviously made sense, and adding influence from movies like scarface and series like miami vice just made it even better. and in sa, it made sense to have the early 90's west coast gangster rap since he could possibly "relate" and it just had the best vibe. and then you had the country stuff when you were out in nowhere, etc etc. in gta iv, you can't really connect in the same way. maybe it's cause it's current music or maybe because dude's russian and apart from the russian station, what type of music do you expect to listen to, to get that perfect match?

SA is the only GTA I didn't finish 100%, I could never get into it, maybe because I couldn't relate to the character...

I had to reinstall SA, just to see. My eyes are now bleeding.

I mean it's the same graphics as Half-Life1 or something, looks TERRIBLE. It was interesting though, i think i'll play it for a little while (have some old saves) just to appreciate GTA IV gfx even more hehe

the first time i played gta it was part 2. i couldn't believe that i was allowed to kill cops and steal cars in a video game. then III came. WOW! finally, a game that topped ocarina of time as my favorite game ever. then vice, with it's much improved visuals(xbox version) and bikes(this is my least favorite one).

SA is a f*cking masterpiece. how perfect an end to the GTAIII series(III, vice city, vc stories, lc stories, SA).

but IV... whoa. the firs thing that grabs you are the improved graphics, but most notably the physics. running, driving, running over peds, stepping into traffic, shooting someone who is standing up against a wall just to see how they gradually fall down along it leaving a trail of blood from each bullet you pump into them... oooh yeah!

IV IS KING! HOORAY FOR IMPROVED PHYSICS!

i live in boston and i can connect to the music. it has a modern, urban feel to it. it fits the character and narrative perfectly.

if you watch some of the tv in game, they do show hints and images of GTA SA. Even a poker show called Ventures something. Also something called "Vinewood Studio" i think it was, on one of the tv adds.
