apparently if you have riva tuner you can fix this error but riva tuner only allows you to modify DEDICATED graphic cards so where does that leave the likes of me with my x3100 which is more than capable of playing this game? i have the latest drivers, ive re-installed directx so what next?

how have rockstar let this happen? have they no shame?

Only the driver didnt work for me too.

After the installation of RivaTuner v2.21 it works.

Play a little in the options. (on your own risk)

TEXP70 is a new error code we have put into the patch, this indicates that something is incompatible with your driver and the game. The first thing to do is to uninstall your current driver and install the latest from Nvidia or ATi. Sometimes errors occur during driver installation and you have to repeat the process. If your computer gets a black screen or blue screen hang during driver installation and you reboot, windows will likely revert you back to a restore state, the new driver has not been installed properly if this happens. If this continues to happen you can try to install the driver in Windows Safe Mode.

It's always some one else's problem... never anything to do with what you did making the game. I just wish R* Toronto would grow some balls and make an honest statement.. just for once.

Hi,

I managed to fix this problem in my machine this afternoon!!!

A lot of the posts and the actual error message all points to the video driver, so one post I saw recommended uninstalling the Nvidia graphics driver in Windows Safe Mode. I really didn't think it would make a difference, but it actually fixed it.

For those who do not know how to do this, here goes:

1) Reboot your PC and just after the initial Bios screens (Before the words/logo saying "Loading Windows") keep pressing the F8 key constantly. You will then get a menu list up and choose "Safe Mode"

2) Go to control panel and "Add/Remove Programs" in XP or "Programs and Features" in Vista.

3) Search down the list for the "Nvidia Drivers", highlight it and click the uninstall button at the top. If like me nvidia also additional hardware components (Raid, Sata etc) then select "Remove only the following" and select "Display Driver"

4) Reboot the PC and go back into safe mode as above.

5) Re-install the latest Nvidia graphocs driver (180.48), reboot again and in my case, I then had a fully working version of GTA IV.

Lee.

Intel intergrated graphics are not supported by GTA4.

Will they ever be? Is there a patch for it being released?

TEXP70 is a completely bogus error code that rockstar put in place to make sure the video card is from nvidia or ati (amd).

they are making sure that it doesn't run on intel chips because they are partnered with nvidia and ati, and intel is trying to make a foray into the graphics chip business which is bad for everyone involved...including us, the gamer!

microsoft did the same to try and thwart java....it's just business and incompatibility in computers is often done on purpose.

to be fair, the packaging clearly tells you that you must have an ati or nvidia card. this is how they sell hardware and keep competitors at bay so you can't get bent out of shape about it.

what you can do is contact intel and ask if they can get their drivers to work with this game. if they do you can then contact your laptop manufacturer and beg them to port those drivers to your specific machine...which is another scam though there are easy work arounds for that.

or, you can stop supporting these companies by purchasing firearms and just killing people for real...though you only get one life and it's not as easy to bribe the cops or steal cars.

Is it possible to return the game, since I cannot run it?

Or fool the game into thinking I have Nvidia or ATI?

Social club en Microsoft Live games are operating normally.

System:

Intel core2duo 2,66GHZ (running at 3400Mhz)

Nvidia 8800GT

update:

It's working!, i removed the nvidia drivers in windows safe mode and installed it again and i've been playing for 5 hours now!

I love the game but its a pain in the ass to install and get it to work

No, its because Intel Integrated Graphics are about as fast as a Fiat, whereas nVidia and ATI are Formula 1 Cars.

Watch when Intel releases its Larrabee card, It will be as fast as nVidia and ATI and it WILL work in GTA IV, Intel Integrated Graphics are NOT good enough for GTA IV, etc, even on lowest settings. (My friends X3100 lags on The Sims 2, medium settings, If it can't even do that, it will not have a chance at running IV)

Is it possible to return the game, since I cannot run it?

Or fool the game into thinking I have Nvidia or ATI?

i purchased through steam and they would not offer a refund except under certain circumstances where people preordered the game...something like that...it's all bs but i understand how difficult it must be to do these kinds of returns where you now have the validation key and really the entire game which you could be playing even though you say you can't.

can you fool the game into thinking you have the right card/drivers? i dunno if anybody is going to spend time on a hack like that but it's possible they will at some point. know that even if they do get the game to run on integrated graphics, it's likely to come in around 5-10fps (IF THAT!) which isn't really worth the effort.

but if you just have to play gta iv on your machine and can't afford to get a new one then you need to be hitting up intel to put the pressure on them. rockstar isn't going to spend time trying to support hardware they never said they would.

can you imagine the bug list for this release right now and how much their support department is drowning? i'm amazed you even got the response you did, and that's pretty cool that they acknowledged it for you when they really didn't need to.

oh crap. i bought the game thinking my intel card can support it just like previous GTA versions... now all my hope dashed.

is there really a WAY to play it ? Hope for some sympathy from R* to come out with something... if not we (intel users) who bought the game just can hold the game box and not playing it !!!

If we (intel users) cannot run it, cannot sell it, cannot return it, and cannot gift it, we just gave them $50 for nothing, and we can't do anything about it!!

Do i get this error because my graphics card is to bad?

I have a Nvidia 7600 go graphics card...

I KNOW it doesn't fulfills the minimum requirements, but whitout textures i was able to play it with a little bit lag. smile.gif

I am sure Crysis would run complete laggy, but it ruuns =)

I get the very same error and it bothers me.

Here's my specs:

Windows edition: WIndows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.500GHz 1.50 GHz

Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB

System Type: 32-bit Operating System

Storage Capacity: 178 GB

Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family

My computer by default has been running on an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver.

BUT my question is, how can I even get NVidia Graphics Driver to run GTA IV, I went to the previous sites on this entire thread to get it, but when I run the .exe it tells me that it can't find any files regarding NVidia and that the setup will quit.
