FX2K
Was averaging 28-32 now I get around 38-40 with these drivers and SLi turned off. If they stay stable and keep this sort of performance then I am happy. ROTFL! Yeah yeah! +10FPS from drivers that doesn't deal anything with GTAIV... man u are an idiot. LOL, Ive been posting (and not making up bull) on this forum for the last week or so. What reason do I have to lie, since I was also looking for a performance increase. I have been on about the low FPS too you know... Whilst I agree, they are Open GL drivers, there may be underlying changes not documented since they are dev releases I dont care what you say, they have increased FPS, do you really need me to make a video as proof Why would I all of a sudden, after posting my FPS everywhere, giving screenshots etc say that something made a difference if it did not. If it did not I would still be looking for some way to increase performance. Not everybody is full of crap ! Besides, this is THE ONLY thing I have changed since posting on the 'SLI - Need proof' topic In Game, I have NEVER seen my FPS hit 60 unless indoors until I installed these drivers, ok they only hit that briefly in some areas or depending where im looking but they do hit it. Overall gameplay im getting an average of +10fps over the previous drivers and watching fraps Ive run on 180.48, 180.84 R1, R2, R3 by doing proper installations of the drivers Edited December 17, 2008 by swsuk

And so are you for calling other people idiots, when they write about their findings. Every setup is different and +10 FPS was reported by more than one person. F*****g moron - and by the war, GTA 4 may very well make significant use of Open GL. I know that the earlier games did, AFAIR. So, +10 FPS is very likely. mthmob
This is developer drivers guys, its for developing. These drivers implement some new OpenGL features so you can make apps/games with the new functions. As far as i can tell, it adds nothing to d3d and no performance can be gained with this, not even in opengl apps, since they dont use the new functions anyway ^^ Edited December 17, 2008 by mthmob

Im not stupid, I realise what it says the drivers have and do and are for, but saying theres no way they could improve results doesnt help when clearly something has and I only updated the driver. DragTom
Why on gods earth do you have xp running on a quad core with 4 gig or ram and a gtx 260? where's the sense in that. For your information I have Vista Ultimate and it runs WAY! better than xp, I have had less crashes and have'nt need to reformat once since it came out unlike xp, 3 reformats and installs due to viruses. So I suggest you go and get Vista and utilize the full capability of your system.

FX2K
I cant help wondering... So I tried. I installed 180.84 again (clean install) and took some screenshots & a GTA benchmark Then re-installed the 181.00 drivers and did exactly the same from the same save game to keep the time 181.00 Definatly improves FPS in GTA on my Rig, regardless of what you say about it being a OpenGL driver Its still a work in progress, why would they post on their developer site that it improves anything in a particular game Do you really think, if they changed anything, they would strip it back out just to release a dev version Heres my screenshots as evidence of the increase, with Fraps in the top LEFT ! . ( Edit : why did I put top right lol) Following 3 are with 180.84 (links so as not to clutter up the forum pages) 180.84 Benchmark 180.84 Showing Menu and Graphics Settings 180.84 In Game Following 3 are after a clean install of 181.00 181.00 Benchmark 181.00 Showing Menu and Graphics Settings 181.00 In Game So now I know for myself, regardless of what anybody says... 100% these drivers DID improve GTA ! Yes they are static images, but overall the entire game is extremely improved ! Edited December 17, 2008 by swsuk

FX2K
Improved FPS is great, but does it fix the damn texture problems? Wish I could answer, but I doubt it will fix anything with textures I would say thats another issue. Ive not had many problems with disapearing textures more so crashing & RESC10 but all seems to be well now for a good few hours of gaming, so time for me to go and play.. More consistent fps Very good setup you got there to achieve that benchy. If you run rivatuner do you find that when the game is at its most intensive you will get closer to 35 FPS or so? I just can't take the benchmark seriously at all,and fail to see how it requires so much CPU/GPU hardware to run what is a rather ugly game. I mean even at 1920x1200 I've never required AA before but man it needs it with this engine/emulation et cetera.

jaboyle
I have a laptop and so have just download driver 180.48, its for the geforce 8600m gt and made for laptops, does this driver enhance the performance for some users on GTA IV like the driver 180.84 (not for laptops) does? thanks ! creat3d22
The bench is broke. My game is 10 fps less the avg bench. That seems to be across the board... I get 44fps in the benchmark and 30 to mid 30's in-game... It's better if you replace the benchmark.cli file with a clip you save with lots more action, like something in downtown Algonquin... THAT will give accurate results!
