[REL|BIN/SRC|Beta] SparkIV

I am trying to replace a original texture. I open the WTD file in sparkIV and imported my .png. I rebuilt and saved. I then booted the game and all of the vehicles were missing. To make sure it wasnt a problem with my .png I reimported the original .png back into the .wtd. I booted the game and still no vehicles. I had somone else do the same procedure as me and they also had the same issue.

hmmm and why does windows media player start if i try to edit the wpl files?^^

Thought there is another window which allows me to view the file....

 

but great tool cookie.gifcookie.gif I think its better to use than OpenIV... but both tools are great xD

 

Ah and under pc\textures the ligh_occluders.wtd, plantsmrg.wtd and skydome.wtd cant be open^^

I cannot preview any of the model formats. The application sort of freezes, as in it becomes unresponsive, like as if there is an invisible window on top of it, I cannot click it.

sooo.... no one knows?

Hmm I had this but just few seconds, time for the tool to work I think. Strange yours is stuck.

Thanks to jjcoolj91's help and some tests,

 

I'm guessing we need .wdd support to be able to change Niko's face with a NPC's one.

@TheRealTRA... try with 0.5.2... I think you have another application registered to handle .wdr files which is the problem.

 

@Mobius_One_Fox3... sounds odd. Did you just try restoring the img to the original, and just replace one texture, then save? (don't rebuild).

 

@JKM... By default if SparkIV sees that another program is registered with windows to handle WPL files, it will launch that... which is why you see Windows Media Player launching. Will look into those textures.. thanks smile.gif

The WHM viewer is awesome. But there is one file that seem to crash the program. It's in the folder www.lootandwank.com.

 

EDIT: There are more. I might make a list if it's not just me having the problem.

To edit Nico's model, there needs to be a function to import / export seperate "Geometries" in the modelfiles (.wdr).

Same thing happens, also happens with .wdd . I can edit the .wdr's texture, but not view the actual model.

Loving the new texture support, for some reason I can't get the mipmaps to work on one of Niko's helmets though. It always resorts to the old one.

I am going for a reinstall of IV today anyway to tidy the files up so I will give it a shot after that.

I'm working on a list of the content inside the IMG and RPF files : http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?act=ST&f=244&t=385483

 

Don't forget the props are not classed by category but rather by location.

Exemple : the billboards at the airport are located in "\pc\data\maps\east\queens_e.img", wich is the IMG file for the airport (I believe).

 

Don't hesitate to add your finds in this topic above.

Hey Aru, just wanted to confirm that SparkIV is indeed working across a network (0.5.0 and 0.5.2). Anyone who wants to do this, make sure you have .NET 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 installed on your machine, extract a copy of SparkIV to your local drive, point it to the directory on your network (make sure it's properly shared) and viola! Nice to know I can edit from pretty much anywhere now. lol.gif

Hey aru, do you think you could make it possible to extract parts of a wdd as seperate wdd/wdr models?

I mean, when you view a ped or a character model in SparkIV, you can see it's made out of seperate parts (the Geometry 1, Geometry 2 and so on in the left side), where the torso is one part, the leg is another part, the head is another part and so on. Would it be possible to, for example, only extract the torso part of a ped/character as a seperate wdd or wdr file? Because then, theoricaly, we should be able to use the torso of pretty much any ped/character as an outfit for Niko.
