This topic is NOT about how to whore a GamerScore, or how to rent Kung Fu Panda and Happy Feet for an easy 1,000. There is actually a thick line between Achievement Whores and Achievement Hunters. Achievement Hunters try for the the Achievements after or during a game. Achievement Whores seek games for their Achievement Points. This topic is for help or suggestions in the games you're playing. If you are stuck, or want to share advice on ways to obtain difficult Achievements, this is the place. Official Achievement Points Topic * It is NOT required that you post your GamerScore, this is not a "biggest dick" competition. Will's GS Blog My Most Fun/Easy Games for Achievement Points Least Fun/Easy Games for Achievement Points Test Drive: Unlimited Pros • Most Achievements are unlocked without even noticed it. Very few require extra effort other than actually playing the game. • Collector's Achievements actually help vary your garage and make it easier to complete challenges or qualify for certain races. • Points are dished out mostly in 20g and 25g servings Cons (None) Need for Speed: Carbon Pros • If you are into the poor multiplayer this game has, you can earn most of your achievements here. Cons • Single player only makes up for roughly one-fifth of the games total Achievement Points. • One of the Achievements is glitched and unattainable Assassin's Creed Pros • Combat Achievements help vary your style and make the game easier by leveling your fighting techniques • Until about 800gs, the points come easy and fast for things you'd normally do through-out the game. • Achievements help you map the terrain and complete the side-quests, which would ordinarily have no reward. Cons • Flag Achievements are tedious with very little reward. Guitar Hero III Pros • If you play long enough, most attainable achievements fall into your hands Cons • A majority of the Achievements are borderline impossible, even for amazing Guitar Hero players. • The other harder Achievements require investing a ton of time into the game's multiplayer. Halo 3 Pros • Probably the most fun I've ever had whilst accruing Achievements. • A single trip through Co-op Campaign with scoring on is not only a hoot, it can net you almost two-thirds of the game's possible Achievements. • Multiplayer Achievements don't bullpen less experienced players from gathering them Cons (None) Forza 2 Pros • Achievements help vary your garage and race style. Cons • Most Achievements require investing a lot of time into both single and multiplayer, even beyond the end of the game. • Even die-hard simulation fans will be turned off by the difficulty of some of the Achievements. Left 4 Dead Pros • It'll be a while before you start checking off a list. Most achievements are earned rapidly during normal play (If you're good). • Probably the second most fun I've ever had whilst accruing Achievements. Cons (None) Honorable Mentions• Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 • Fable II • Splinter Cell: Double Agent • Elder Scrolls: Oblivion • Grand Theft Auto IV • Crackdown • 12/16/08I am currently still working on Fable II and Left 4 Dead, (yet to beat either). My next adventure will most likely be Fallout 3My Favorite Achievements • Beating Halo 3 on Legendary • Beating Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 on co-op • Playing a song Flawlessly on expert in Rockband 2 • Winning the "Tour of the Island" race in Test Drive: Unlimited *You don't have to make a table or follow any of the outlines I've used. Hart
Nice topic. My favourite achievement is probably the one where you have to get 250,000 points on Guitar Hero 3. It took me so long, I finally did it on One. I usually do try go for achievements, but if they are ridiculous (Gears of War Seriously type ones) then I'll just leave them. I'll be getting L4D and CoD5 soon probably so fun MP and achievements! Sorry if I was meant to make my own table, I really cant be bothered. Robinski
I may not be a gamerscore whore, even though i have a decent gamerscore, i must say some achievements are just so damn satisfying to get. So far the msot satisfying achievment i have got was definetly the Mile High CLub one for CoD4. It took me about 4 or 5 hours of trying just so i knew I'd beaten the game, so damn frustrating playing the same <1 mintue of gameplay but so worth it. My friends actually has one less pair of trackie bottoms thanks to this achievment. The only time i have actually shouted at a game but it was positive because i did so upon completion. This is closely follwoed by completing Halo 3 on legendary, and knowing that it was better than most because I did it by myself. And also closely followed by the "Body Armour" achievment from Crackdown, because getting that was one of the funniest gaming moments I've had; what with me and my friend taking turns to drive around a big truck while the other tried to pin enemies to it with a harpoon gun. Great laugh it was. EDIT: To Hart, yeah the 250k achievemtn on GHIII was one i worked my ass off for. I can't play hard/expert very well at all, but I'm pretty good at medium so i tried to perfect Story of My Life and got 247-249k numerous times but eventually nailed it. The thing was, a month or two later, having not played GH for a few weeks i come back and get 260k while just having a quick play of One. Oblivionz
I gotta say, Bethesda makes all their achievements so damn easy to get. In Fallout and Oblivion, you get all your achievements for attaining a rank in something/beating all the missions. Their games are the best though, at least that's good. Awesome topic, Will. Blackadder.
Crackdown hands down has to be one of the funnest games for Achievements. When you look at this, and then GTA IV, you wonder why doesn't GTA IV have some more interesting achievements. It has a killer physics engine, why not put it to good use? Guitar Hero III is definately a bitch though, and some of the 'impossible' Achievements made it through to World Tour. Score 100% as a Full Expert Band? How the hell are you meant to do that with WT's vocal scoring system? I think passing Expert career on any rhythm games is worth being proud of. Mike Tequeli
Good call on the Halo achievements. I had a blast gathering single player achievements, the skulls and terminals weren't made impossible to get to, but you won't get all the achievements merely by beating the game. I still never got the achievements for rumple pit though, they weren't practical to get in game.

tuff_luv_capo
Do you think you could expand this topic to count PS3 Trophies too?! Sure, I guess they are about the same now. Seddo
I agree that Crackdown has to be one of the best games involving the achievement system. The good thing about achievements is that they make me play games on hardest difficulties, play through campaigns differently than i would originally do and try to complete games 100%, all which give the game a longer life . I wouldn't call myself an achievement whore as i've only unlocked about 60% of all achievements from my games list, more a collector. My mate is a proper achievement whore, his 360 is modded so he can play any game he wants and you know what games he's currently played?,...sh*t like Cars, Surfs Up, Spiderwick Chronicles, Madagascar 2. I've been telling him to stop playing those sh*t games and start playing some decent games.
Lega_c
I personally think PSN Trophies should be added to this post since, starting in January, they will be mandatory for all PS3 games. EDIT: Just read Lochie's post.

Just got a few Achievements from L4D last night. Stand Tall, and the Pyro one. dont get me started on left 4 dead!!! There are some really good achivements in that game like beating a tank single handed, And kill a tank without one member of your team recieving damage. Valve are good at this kinda thing, Like having to carry a gnome around with you for a few levels and having to place it in a massive missile at the end of the episode to get the achivement in half life the orange box. Vanillainy
I tend to do acheivements on games that I really had fun playing or don't have really hard/annoying/tedious acheivements. I have 1000/1000 on CoD4, CoD5, Bully and skate. Mostly I'll just complete a game and get acheivements through normal play. I'm not a fan of online achievements at all, yes, I'm looking at you GTAIV. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like achievements? To me, they just force play time. I don't wanna be coerced into playing more, harder, etc. just to get "10 Gamer Points." Wowee, thanks a bunch. It's like some nagging thing hanging over your head. I think the only game I have 1000 points on is Need For Speed: Most Wanted, because you get it just for beating the game, really. Too bad Carbon isn't the same way. I don't mind the career modes in those games, but their online is just not my thing.
tuff_luv_capo
Just got a sh*t ton from L4D last night. It sucks because I am positive I can almost every one except for the one where no one can get damaged after calling for rescue. That just seems absurd. 4thosebout2rock
Ya a friend off mine is a achievement whore He goes into game stop and buys the cheapest second hand game just for the achievements. Pretty stupid really. I quite enjoy them as they add more ife to the game. Dont like stupid ones like kill 10.000 people seirously 2.0 (gow 2) i tend not to bother with them honestly. Mr.Mister
I got the zombie genocider achievment on dead rising yesterday! It wasted my whole afternoon... Also got all of the Duke Nukem achivements but they are really easy. The TV one in CoD4 is pissing me off. My friend has all of the cod4 achievemnts. How do I get this one? How do I get this one? Youtube is your best friend. Also triple check the big TV room, that's probably were you missed one. I only have 1 game 1000/1000 and that's COD4, takes some patience and Determination but it will pay off, also helps to use some walkthroughs, they tend to be helpful. The hardest ones imo are Mile High Club and No Fighting in the War room. I've never played this game, but Avatar has the easiest achievements, it takes like 3 minutes to do them all. kingvercetti
Probably the only time I went out of my way to get an achievement was "Zombie Genocider" on Dead Rising, which required you kill 53000 or so zombies. Time consuming and totally not worth it for the measly G, but it was nice to get it. I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like achievements? To me, they just force play time They don't force it though, they're there mostly just to add extra depth to games - yeah you could just put away that game you love and not play it again or you could spend a little while longer trying to get the achievements. tuff_luv_capo
I got the zombie genocider achievment on dead rising yesterday! It wasted my whole afternoon... f*ck me, I play this game a sh*t ton and am only at 22,000, though that may have something to do with not finishing every campaign I start due to friends. I did get the Red Mist one yesterday. I'm at about %60 with achievements on that game. Fun as hell. I thought I was going to have fun with GOW2, but I had to do a double-take on the box to make sure I wasn't playing the first one. I understand the whole, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" but holy sh*t. I got a little past the training part and went back to Halo online. So glad I rented it. The only thing similar is the controls, which you cant complain about. Graphics are better, new weapons, enemies etc I'm making it sound amazing, but I traded it in a few days ago. The campaign was great but the MP was broken to hell. I've been getting quite a few achievements on Fallout 3, got about 300G on it. I dont think I'll ever get 1000G..
