nicolassand
Ok so that's a patch. But when installing the game, the setup automatically opens this site and won't continue before downloading. So i already have downloaded this patch. Mkey82 says: There are 5 patches for GTAIV, some game version might run on your machine. So, where are the other 4 and how do i uninstall then one i already have? Again... i'm no professor in computers, so bare with me... Edited February 19, 2010 by nicolassand
mkey82
There are links in my sig. You don't have to be a professor to able to read. You will have to reinstall the game and try each version as to be able to determine which (if any) works. But this is a big maybe, don't forget that. mkey82
Usually laptops are not upgradable or it's just not worth doing so.

WTFGRAPHCARD
Okay, I have the same error right when I start up the game. After the first text screen it will freeze at the security/contest liability screen and give the error. I have steam so I can't refund my game or install without patch. My specs are: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (6.1, Build 7600) System Manufacturer: Gateway System Model: DX4822 Processor: Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHZ Memory: 6144MB RAM Directx Version: Directx

WTFGRAPHCARD
That machine was not made for gaming. Is there anything I can do? because the over $300 of non-transferable games makes me not wanting to buy buy a new system.
mkey82
You could get a better GPU, but your PC has a very weak power supply so you would probably have to get a new one of those as well.
PreuX
I've got the same problem here but with a reasonably good graphic card , ATI 5730 which has got 1gb of DDR3 memory. The game used to run before applying the patches & I even got an average of 30 FPS on benchmark test but it used to freeze intermittently! the FPS was dropped to 0 for 2-3 seconds & it only happened while driving a car. but now after applying 1.0.7 patch and that xliveless thing I get texp70 error msg how could I get this thing working? thx in advance
mkey82
Look here http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=385146 If you were satisfied with the performance before, I suggest going back to patch 5.

b0bcuzz
Wow, been playing for months now SO I am Most positive I can run GTA IV 1.7 with my driver. Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family Current Driver Installed 8.15.10.1872 -Up To Date- Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00GHz MS Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1 Generic PnP Monitor ([email protected]) 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz Direct X 11 But I did one update to Windows 7 and now all of a sudden I'm getting this same error message. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh282/b0bcuzz/Untitled.jpg Help? lol
mkey82
The problem is that on borderline specification one change can make or break the game for you. Be it drivers, OS or whatever. Try with older game versions/GPU drivers.
khajiitkid
Same Problem here: Vendor: SONY Model : VAIO RAM: 4GB Video Card: Intel HD Graphics Card (3D Capable) 1080P Video Memory Capacity: 1024MB Processor: Intel i3 @ 2.4 Ghz Operating System: Windows 7: Home Premium - 64 Bit OS Hard Disk: 300GB (94GB Used) Edited March 25, 2012 by khajiitkid
mkey82
Like it has been said many times, Intel HD graphics doesn't meet GTAIV needs. You can try using older game versions, some of them may at least start the game.
TheTerrainGuy2
I'm having the same problem. The going back a few patches not really able to do that seeing as i bought it through steam meaning it auto updates. My specs: Intel® Pentium® CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz 3.00 GB ram Intel® HD Graphics 1271 MB total Available graphics memory Windows 7 but using compatibility mode windows vista SP2 because of another error. Sony VAIO the processor is a duel core. I know quite a few people have said Intel® HD Graphics but i have tried Many games such as MW2 and they all work with just a little lag from the processor and a hear and there crash from the Graphics. I also tried fallout 3 it would work but seeing as my graphics card is built in and not a deticated one fallout wont run unless i get a patch or mod to bypass their system that searches for certain types of cards. In other words the graphics card its self isn't good enough but with the extra graphics memory it becomes good enough to play somewhat modern games. EX: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Tropic 4, Shogun 2 total war, Wargame: European Escalation and Red orcestra 2.
