Lost and the Damned

I hate the whole "biker" idea. It seems...off from the GTA series for some reason.

I'm hoping the second expansion is actually interesting...if I get GTA IV I'm probably going to skip this expansion.

I feel exacyly the same dude!

There's a reason why it's called grand theft AUTO, and all of a sudden the game is focusing on bikes?

I perfer cars on bikes...

And about "The Lost" thing sounds a little foolish and deepressing

Word for real!

Also, I've never really been into the whole "heavy metal" thing which is definitely a culture amongst biker groups.

I hope we see another urban "gangsta" game like San Andreas. I'm praying the second DLC is that so if I do get a 360 I can play the type of game I love the most...

I'm sure there's many people who aren't really into the 'gangsta' thing and find it played out and over-hyped, but they still played San Andreas and enjoyed it.

Diversity is the key to GTA, hence why there's been different characters and themes in each of the settings so far.

Not only do bikers fit into GTA.. but I seriously think they should have made Johnny the original character opposed to Niko. Think about it, if you're going for a game thats more "realistic" (as they say) and isn't a rags-to-riches story, bikers fit perfectly. You can expand the biker club without making them look ridiculous, because no biker belongs in a penthouse.

Due to some of the things being released in this story, I think Rockstar is either using the Sons of Anarchy writers, or they need to be sued by those writers. The story seems to be pretty parallel so far.

The writers of "Sons of Anarchy" don't have sh*t on Rockstar in terms of a lawsuit because the seeds of "The Lost and Damned" were planted in the game before the show ever aired.

In addition to the Lost appearing several times throughout the game you can go to the police website in the game and read about all the Lost members and you've been able to do all that since the game launched in April.

"Sons of Anarchy" didn't start airing until about 5 months later.

Christ, the stupidity of some people.

If anyone could be accused of plagiarism it would be the "SoA" producers but I wouldn't suggest that either because even if they just flat-out stole the idea from GTA 5 months still isn't long enough to take that concept and get it on the air. Two groups of writers can come up with similar ideas practically simultaneously, you know.

I doubt the "SoA" producers were looking to minor subplots in GTA for ideas just like I doubt Rockstar was spying on the production of some basic-cable pilot that nobody gave a crap about when it went into development.

They're biker stories. It doesn't exactly take Shakespeare to write this stuff. Similarities are pretty much unavoidable because there's only so much you can do with this basic premise.

And you think that eventhough it takes years to make a video game, production on a TV series takes a week and a half? You're right, the stupidity of some people is pretty outrageous.

From a previous post about the "police database information":

In SOA, the main character is Jax. He's the VP of the biker gang (second in command, like Johnny) and not only also wants to take SOA in a more peaceful and less illegal direction, but also has a wife who's addicted to drugs. The boss of SOA is also trying to keep things the way they are (violent/illegal) and ALSO has a right-hand man (Brian Jeremy of The Lost/Tigg in SOA) that is very loyal and trying to keep things the way they are. Lee "King" Leroc is an Elvis impersonator who's tied into the Angels. SOA has a member named Bobby who also does Elvis impersonations.

Thats A LOT of basic similarities.

.. and please note that I did say they could be using the same writers.

No, if you could actually read you'd notice I said that 5 months likely wasn't enough time for the "SoA" writers to rip off GTAIV, though that scenario is barely within the realm of possibility though the GTAIV writers would have needed access to at ime machine to rip off "SoA".

These similarities tend to fall into two categories: on one hand you have things that 99% of people writing a story about a biker gang would write and the other falls into the "where did you hear that?" category. This is the first I've heard about any Elvis impersonator character in "TLaD".

In any case, you can apply the "biker gang" concept to pretty much all the GTA games and get that "hero wants to change things for the better, villain wants to keep being evil" story. I know "San Andreas" had this exact same dynamic.

A time machine? Sure. I guess TV series don't get shopped around for a long period of time before a network picks them up.. or get pre-written and shopped around before a director decides to shoot it. In reality, I'd say SoA had probably been in production most of the same time GTA was.

Ironically, its from the same exact post on the GTAIV board where all the information was put up from the police database. Maybe you should read more into the things you reference.

Yes, thats the basic premise of every video game and/or movie ever created. If you simply say you've got a good guy trying to save earth, I wouldn't think anything of it. Its when you say he's got an S on his chest and can dodge bullets that makes me think you're ripping off Superman. lol

If ANYTHING so far about the story was a major difference, I'd say cool.. maybe its coincidence. But when 5 or more things are laid out exactly the same way (why did his girl have to be addicted to drugs? why not his cousin?.. EVERYTHING is the same) ... thats when I start to question.

You can say "no, its not possible" all you want.. its still too many coincidences to simply be a coincidence.

With the DLC, additional Achievements and Trophies would be good. It gives you a feeling that you REALLY are working towards something.

I'd like to see a feature where you can shove a shotgun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

Just so when I get mad at a post on GTAForums while playing TLAD I could off myself. biggrin.gif

I wanna see:

1. Cars, Some old classics from previous GTAs and some new ones that would be cool.

2. Another chopper or two and a few more boats. I want these vehicles to be usable in the regular GTA once story is completed (so it doesn't interfere with the original missions)

3. New weapons that are also usable in regular game after completion, hopefully whole sets.

4. Some epic non formulaic missions.

5. New activities and a sweet storyline (as expected)

6. Badass new multiplayer types (Demo Derby, Drug bust, even a free mode where you can spawn vehicles? Perhaps a co-op online mission where you rob a bank?)

7. Better multiplayer character customisation (the characters suck, add some hitman suits and some funny secret clothes maybe?)

8. Car customisation, choose colours and bodykits at least.

All this in either TLAd or the next episode would be f*cking amazing! cool.gif
