biggeo
When requirments come out it come for a reason! So the PC users will know if their PC at good to run the game. And with minimum requirments they can't. Oh for god sake the "requirements" crap has been bullsh*t for more years than I can ever remember. I have yet to come across any game that runs as well as the requirements state. You just need to look at Crysis to see how even PC companies blatantly LIE about the requirements. In fact you just need to look at any game and see that they just lie because it is in their interest to fool as many people as possible into buying the game. Sure it isn't right but it has been going on since the dawn of PC gaming. In short I thought PC gamers all knew that the specs are only useful if you print them out and wipe your arse with them. How wrong you are. I tell you just 3 examples and all games from same company. MAX PAYNE 2, VICE CITY, SAN ANDREAS. All are playable with minimum requirments even bellow minimum. So don't fool yoiurself. GTA IV was just a bad release, made it in a hurry just to came out before Christmas, so they can sell more.
Toshi_TNE
I've just totally given up with pc gaming now. If GTA has slumped to this level, its over Saints Row 2 for PC is round the corner, and guess what, the developer isn't releasing the pc version 8 months later when nobody gives a damn January 9 i believe for all platforms still is hope. You know, I'm really looking forward to that. Don't get me wrong, I love GTA, but I'm tired of spending days fiddling with settings (game and system) and updating to untested beta drivers just to add 1 or 2 measly FPS to my 20-23 average. The only thing I haven't done is to get an exorcist or a voodoo priest to take a look at my PC. Judging by the specs Saints row 2 will run great on my PC, and it looks really fun. The kind of fun I had with games like GTAIII and carmageddon. I'm lead modeler for invision games, a mod team that's making a Starwars mod on the source engine. I was looking forward to making a couple of mods for GTA IV, but I guess SR2 will work out just fine. I just hope that darn thing is moddable. sillyrainbow
For me it was like this: 1 Buy the game 2 Install it 3 Register for Social Club and GFW 4 Run it 5 Have many hours of fun YOU are the one with the issues. Keep your computer up to date regularly and all would be fine. Well your an absolute w*nker aren't you. If you can run it, don't come to the help topics. Don't be an assh*le and criticize people just because your game works.
biggeo
I was suspected it from the first few days, but now I am pretty sure. There is a memory leak in program. And that mean bad coded program (at least show that R* was in a rush). When this fixed then we can say more. Till then I can't play the game, and this is not PC related. The best PC in the world can't load an application when a memory leak occure. The application will crash. And for those not familliar with the term, bellow is an explanation from Wikipedia. "In computer science, a memory leak is a particular type of unintentional memory consumption by a computer program where the program fails to release memory when no longer needed. This condition is normally the result of a bug in a program that prevents it from freeing up memory that it no longer needs." Wikipedia. As you can see "This condition is normally the result of a bug in a program " and that means no matter your PC specs the program will crash. This for all winkers who said numerous things, about PC specs, drivers, and called all of us who have problems with the game different names. There is a bug in the program and hope R* find it soon, then all of us who run into crashes with GTA IV we can play the game. biggeo
Man try to play Crysis, Oblivion, Fallout3, Warhead, or even world at war (which sucks) on a pc with Minimum requirements. It won't run smoother than you run GTA4 on minimum requirements. Well usually I don't answer to ignorance or s**t mouth people but I make an exeption. Read what you write. Yes the fact is that these games run though, GTA IV don't run at all. So these games run way smoother than GTA IV on my PC. If you do not understand how graphic engines work, and you have probably played 3 games in your whole life, dont get mad at Gta4 for not running as smooth as you thought on your garbage hardware Game crashes isn't graphic related it's BUG related, if you jnow what "memory leak" means. And I believe I played games long before you where born. Almost 20 years now when we try to hook a cassete to ZX Spectrum +2 just to play galactica or a TEXT adventure game. As for your last statement, you can find a link to my home PC somewhere in this thread, so you can see that is above average requierments, And about my graphic knoweledge let me keep them for myself. I refuse to light up your ignorance.
Mr Heckler
saints row 2? gta rip-off? nah i'd rather play the ruined gta iv than saints row Who cares if it's trying to copy the GTA concept... all game developers do it, even Rockstar. If Saints Row 2 has been done properly, then it will could be a GTA beater... and all it needs for that is to be as good as GTA IV and have none of the issues on it's release. I reckon that they'll be tweaking the game and testing it a little better to make sure it's not bugged as badly. If they can do that... I'll buy it. But for now I'm holding of buying any new PC games until I start to see improvements in releases... So I'll watch the response to Saints Row 2... and give it a few weeks before deciding. Just because GTA was the first of it's type, doesn't mean that some one else can't do it better than Rockstar.
