How do i get the -norestrictions command working.

I can only start the game by social club.

Clicking gta4.exe just gives me club screen with play.

Thanks smile.gif

go into the root of the GTA iv installation folder. Probably '\program files\gtaIV'

here should be a file called 'launchgtaiv.exe' Create a shortcut of this file and add that -norestriction bit. Make sure you're already logged into the social club before running.

Or even easier, create a txt file called commandlist.txt and put it in your GTA IV folder and add that -norestriction command to it smile.gif

Anyway to do it without logging in?

Sadly not that I know off, unless the method StoneCold_ZA detailed gets round it.

It removes graphic restrictions....

And what does that mean?

it unlocks all the options, so you can force max detail etc regardless of system resources....

Whenever I try to add '-norestriction' in the target area It says, "The folder C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV"-norestriction' specified in the Start In box is not valid. Make sure that the folder exists and that the path is correct."

WTF? :S

that's because you didn't hit the space bar after quotes smile.gif

It should be C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV" -norestrictions

-norestrictions

dude, first open the properties window of the shortcut, then select SHORTCUT tab, in that you have to modify the TARGET field, that field would have ".exe" in the end.

would obviously endup like this

"C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions

check your path....

warm regards.

no wonder stonecold_za's reply didn't work.

the text file is called commandline.txt , not commandLIST

here are the commands

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/grandthe...7982&pid=952150

create a commandline.txt file and put it in your GTIV directory

then in that file put

-norestrictions

i put in my file:

-windowed -norestrictions

and it worked smile.gif

I tried that method as well dude but It says I don't have the permission to create this file in the GTA IV folder. I'm using Vista Home Basic SP1. I don't know what the problem is. :S

go to start > run and type notepad

when notepad opens put

-norestrictions

then goto file > exit , and save as commandline.txt onto your desktop

then move the file into your gtIV directory

Yeah SubyJeff! sorry maddyyo i forget to tell you this action.... you must create a file "worpad" or "text" on the desktop and than copy this file into the gta IV folder, now you should have the effects of noretrictions! biggrin.gif (sorry for my english man!)
