Z-fighting problem

Yep getting this, might be to do with settings on my graphics card however as i havn't always had this problem.

 

Asus P5Q-Pro

e8400 3.8ghz

Powercolor 4870 512mb

4gb PC8500+ 1066mhz ram

For me the XG driver has made 0 difference.

Also when looking at the screens of people in 'sniper scope' it does remove the building flickering, but on the sign next to it you can still see a massive diagonal line going through it...!

didn't have the problem prior to having these drivers, but its not really that much of a problem for me so i'll live with it.

Indeed, the problem reappears after 15 minutes of play with XG-Driver

Only a patch or a new driver will correct the problem .

 

But ATI it's not Nvdia, and no news or fix for the moment

Meanwhile I finished GTA IV (the storyline) so no need for a fast fix anymore

 

Conclusion: great game - bad porting

 

I just hope a patch will fix the z-fighting by the time I feel like playing through the game again to see the other gameplay decision options.

I used to have this problem really bad and I have a GTX 280 OCX with the latest 181.20 WHQL drivers from nVidia.

To resolve the issue is pretty painful as it means you are then "victim" of yet another bug!

This fix may not help everyone but remove the comandline.txt, or more specifically remove "-novblank" as I found that although -novblank fixed the painful wait when loading a game, it introduced z-fighting, and monitor "tearing" as well as a few other graphics odities.

 

The game runs smoother without the "-novblank" thing to as the framerate does not wildly fluctuate.

 

It's something you might want to try as I found the flickering grafiti, posters, shaddows etc were really annoying!

go to Standard Tweak and uncheck the 'Z Mask enable' option .

I've finally received a "real" reply to my GTA IV ticket on amd customer care site. It contains a link to a system information collection app.

But I simply can't use it because I've already traded my HD2600XT with a nvidia card. So if any of you want to send your sysinfo to them and don't want to wait a month to get a reply in the Customer Care, you could use that app and send the file / result it produced to me. PM your hosted file (I prefer megaupload) to me with your detailed specs, and I will attach it to my ticket reply. HD2600XT owners get higher priority because I'm not sure the other cards get the exactly same problem.

 

But If you're not sure with the privacy, then don't do it.

I am impatient to buy the GTX
