WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT IT. actually it didnt i applied the cacheboost fix after the patch patching and 8.12 did nothing for me only the systweaks tool seemed to help but the trial version runs out in 25 days or so and i dont want to pay another 30 bucks for software to get 1 program to work right thats was just for the textures but i get the stutter too though thats my only problem now and i bought the game through my steam account so thats not the issue either (which was a lil rude to imply i think since the textures is a known issue) good sht black let us know my hardrive policies are set to performance like some1 said a few pages back i still didnt see you offer any reason why its not related ITA other than your HD is working while you play which i would expect to see some activity but not to effect the game like this Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Anyway, my commandline.txt file has this in it : -noprecache -novblank -percentvidmem 99 /high I play on : Textures = LOW Render = Highest 1024x768 60 Visual Dist = 1 Obj Dist = 60 Cars = 60 Shadows = 0 All this SUPER GFX on ZERO (0) just to play this game on a superior computer...LOL... The game was really fluid, but after 30 min was unplayable ! So, I installed Memturbo4 and the problems stopped I still have some problems of textures* (I expect the next Patch) but the game is really fluid My settings : Textures = Medium Render = Max. 1024x768 (75hz) Visual Dist = 45 Obj Dist = 65 Cars = 30 Shadows = 5 On Q6600 / ATI HD2600xt / 2Go RAM / Vista 32. * My texture problem : Edited December 17, 2008 by reznor Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LSD T Posted December 17, 2008 Share Posted December 17, 2008 There is one other thing I noticed, when starting up the bloatware Rockstar Social Club (so groovy and exclusive DontChaThink?!?!) with Task Manager running, If i leave the Rockstar pap up on screen the memory continues to climb in excess of 100's of MB, when I minimise it to taskbar, it drops to 10.5 Megs. Maybe thats another consideration for some still experiencing a memory leak of sorts, cos that aint been fixed in the patch. Try it yourself to see the climb in memory usage while it's active. I have made an Nlite Slipstreamed XP install, and removal of much bloated and unnecessary apps and servicesw can make THE difference. Just by disintegrating Internet Explorer from the OS can yield serious gains in gaming alone, let alone the other crap included with a vanilla XP Pro install. If you could get your grubby mitts on a Corporate ISO of XP and remove the bloat also with that you'll be able to play GTAIV, it's a lot and I mean a lot of work mind, merely for a badly ported game... PLEASE READ BEFORE REPLYING We are not talking about the memory leak problem, but the always-present stutter. Seeing that I am a good man, I'll try to explain (yeah, another time) the difference: - memory leak problem: FOR MOST FIXED BY THE PATCH, but many people doesn't even have the original game, so they are still crying, it is the problem that makes you, after few minutes of CLEAN playing, start to HARD LAG and STUTTER with your framerate dropping drammatically. It could also caus your textures appear with hard delay or disappear. If you have THIS problem please go to one of the many threads about it. THIS IS NOT! - the problem discussed in this thread: the LAG \ STUTTER \ SWAP, not heavy but always present, many of us (all?) experience during our games. It is present SINCE the first seconds of the game and it lasts until you close it. It is not as heavy as memory leak LAG, but it makes you feel the game less smooth than it should and you can see often you hard-disk reading, in particular when driving vehicles at high speed. Wombatfrog Posted December 18, 2008 Share Posted December 18, 2008 I hate the hard drive being thrashed. I can get 25-33 (wont go above 33? any help?). But It thrashes my hard drive BAD, constantly. I rotate camera left 180 degrees and framerate goes from 33 down to 22 because of the stutter. When driving it's unbearable. Framrate is so inconsistent, because of the stutter. If anyone knows (not toronto) how to stop the stutter then i can enjoy this game with 25 - 33 (33 max wtf? even indoors? wtf?) fps happily. If i stand still fps trickles back up to 28-33. jimmyh Posted December 18, 2008 Share Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) I think I have exactly the same problem. While driving suddenly it stutters. FPS drops to about 24 for shorter than a second then back to normal. I did not have this problem before the patch. It comes in intervals in about 3-5min.
