Stutter \ Swap \ Lag not memory leak related!

It's a GPU RAM leak, not all normal RAM. I'm constantly at 89/90/92%. Use a prog like everest and see for urself. Oh and samo, no offence but play a little longer and u'll see it will stutter again. I did and it just takes a little longer cuz u've now doubled your RAM.

well this is still in game, but when I had Beta drivers it has f*cking lags after 20-30 mins of playing... and whit old drivers I can play without this problem FOREVER.

Mate... you are talking about the memory leak problem fixed by the patch... our problem OCCUR STRAIGHT AWAY, not after 20 min..

Dude seriouslly i was playing for about 2 hours or so before and havent got any problem with stuttering... its working totaly normal now btw.. though FPS is still crappy at some spots but i can live with that at least till i get my hands on 4870x2.. though my current rig is Q6600 2.4GHz, 8800gtx, and 4gb of ram. My settings in the game are set to Res: 1280x1024 (75Hz), Textures: Medium, Render Quality: Highest, View Distance: 35, Detail Distance: 35, Cars: 70 and Shadows: 5.

Still lags with one of those... i say "stutters" rather, it handles the game very well indeed as you can imagine, running 1650x1050 High Textures everything up max (view distance is about 35) runs great... then if you drive over a bridge or your deep in the city...the stutter happens as textures and models are loaded ahead of you... if your HDD cannot keep up with the demand it'll stutter I'm sure, so either you have bags of ram or some super fast raid setup...regardless of CPU/GPU you'll get a stutter i bet.

I have this problem too

Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz

XFX 320MB 8800 GTS (320 bit)

2 GB of DDR2 @ 667mhz

Sound blaster Audigy

2 SATA drives (with XP Pro 32 on a 500gb SATA)

and 1 IDE drive without any related GTA files

game settings:

Medium Textures

View distance around 20

I'm playing at my monitor's max resolution which is 1024x1280, I lowered the resolution when I noticed the game starting to slow down after a while, but the resolution makes no difference, it still stutters and lags, no crashes though.

I SPOTTED THE BUG!!! SQUASH IT!

WinXP HOME runs the game flawlessly... Im becoming sure about it, I have two copies of the game, completely identical two computers, only difference one is using XP Pro, other one is XP Home...

both computers are,

AMD X2 5000+

Nvidia 8600GT DDR3 (Gigabyte)

2 GB 800Mhz DDR2 Ram (A-data)

no matter in which order I installed the game / nvidia drivers, setting cacheboost, avast, firewall, virtuagirlHD smile.gif active/disabled result is the same, game STUTTERS on XP PRO AFTER THE PATCH

Do us a favor and let the LAN players choose the game running with the patch or without it...

running the game with modest settings and medium textures, i checked the memory usage and i with hardly anything else running in vista even most of the services shutdown, i was using 1900Mb+ of my 2GB RAM beause of GTAIV. WTF!!!!

This is the cause of the slow down as it has to use the HD and it just stutters like mad and gives only 4fps. Then the textures start dissappearing all together. Cars look like they are flying in mid air with no road benath them.

What the hell is wrong with the game and when will it be fixed.

Im sick of posting my pcs specs, but suffice to say it has several times the memory resources and computation power of the xbox360!

HD4870, wolfdale, 2GB, vista 32. sp1.

Am i the only one with these problems???

I have re-installed my ATI drivers (haven't tested as yet) all installed ok, benchmarks fine...those with ATI cards should try setting the VSYNC to always on, might help... the micro stutter might ease, other than that it's got to be a driver problem smile.gif i'll report back with tests... I have tried running AMD fusion (some improvement) you can disable Vista Aero interface, I've tried all that and it's the same smile.gif but i'll let you know...

Well do you have any anti-thesis?

and by the way

IS THERE ANYONE WITH WinXP HOME installed and experiencing this "chronical" stutter problem... so far Ive seen only Pro and Vista users experiencing it...

4870x2 on a Phenom 9950 @2.6 - the stutter is almost removed if you set everything to low, native resolution... low textures seems to be key here BUT you still get the stutter... i can push all of the settings on max (view distance on 40) and it's virtually the same... although soon as a leave the buidling I'm in after a save and appear outside and look around... even that causes the most outrageous stutter... then it calms down... anything put to screen in those first few seconds causes bad stutters, i have a gigabyte mobo with something called "autoXpress" which tweeks the CPU and some GPU cards (apparently)... which i might disable... either way it's annoying smile.gif

Mate! It doesn't deal anything! I have just installed the game on Vista 64 SP1 and it stutters IDENTICAL. So it is not Win XP Pro the problem.

i stutter too with a 3870

this was after the patch too

i had my textures disappear after 10 minutes and in heavy firefights but cacheboost fixed that for me

this stutter though is so annoying

when i 1st load the game and play its fine

30-40 fps outside driving everything runs smooth

then ill get 1 big drop to 2 fps after about 5 minutes then it get progressively worse

until i cant play

resetting the resolution works for a while then it gets worse in less time after the reset

my gpu is running about 40 ingame

and my cpu is about 55 ( alil warm but it can take it, crysis works fine) 6400+

i do run XP Pro X64 - i think most gamers run better OS's and prob only a small % would run xp home at this point, but interesting observation, could use that to find the issue

has any1 tried rolling back ATI drivers to 8.11?

i might try that later and report back

Don't dismiss it completely out of hand.

Currently I am in the process of detailing my NLited XP setup that has changed from 20FPS to a 60+FPS.

It is common knowledge that XP Corporate is infinitely superior in performance to the other flavours of XP, Vista 64 is a horrific resource hog it's DRM inhibiting anything approaching an OS for the high end power user, I am getting no more that 20 FPS out of.

The real factor to identify is that all anti piracy devices invariably handicap the performance, like bypassing securom can eek out extra FPS so can having a Corporate edition copy of the OS.

Actually can you tell me what has Patch fixed something THROUGH??? this is what we are talking. and yes its memory leak, basically people with more RAM experience it later than the others but its is inevitable

I and many others are telling that patch ruined the game, which part dont you understand of this?
