So if you have a Ps3 you cant do melees or get new weapons, or vehicles? Or will it be like a update for both consoles but xbox just gets the missions?

I say ps3 will get all the 'other' stuff besides missions (i.e. the 'episodic content'), if not now, then eventually. I don't see anywhere in the wording of "exclusive episocdic content" that implies that ps3 won't get all the 'extra' goodies. Also read: It wouldn't make financial sense to do this and exclude good dlc to a system thereby cutting off potential profits. I'm not talking Home junk either.

If not, then shame on Sony bigtime for this. R* releases an unfinished game not even close to being on par with other GTAs in terms of replay value with all the extras and 'toys'. They do this because they know they can release bits and pieces at later dates to make the game last longer and from a business standpoint its smart (keep ramping up the game = more sales in the long run).

I miss the good old days though where the game was released as the full version. The era of DLC would be fine if all versions would get it. This monopolizing bs is nothing more than that...bs. I would feel the same way if I was an xbox owner as well.

My opinions of course.

i feel your pain brother

So, am I right  in assuming while the  Lost/Damned missions will be a separate save, the melee weapons, radio stations, vehicles, etc. will all be downloaded into the original game should you want to use them with Niko, and multiplayer as well.

I doubt that the "Niko game" gets changed much. I think the DLC will look like a separate game on the dashboard, then each has its own saves and multiplayer. Depending how much they want to give away they could patch the original game at the same time for free to keep multiplayer in sync.

Giving Niko the new moves and weapons would alter the difficulty of the original game and could screw up how missions are scripted. You have to think about all the strategy guides and walkthroughs that are out and how they'd go out of date if you change too much. It's so much easier to treat the DLC like a totally new game along the lines of Liberty City Stories, it's just implemented with different technology and distribution.

Also read: It wouldn't make financial sense to do this and exclude good dlc to a system thereby cutting off potential profits.

Um, that's where the $50 million comes in.

It's like you need it spelled out for you: Microsoft gave Rockstar a sum of money that made them comfortable with the fact that they're cutting off PS3 owners, a group that makes up about one-third of GTAIV users.

To simplify it: Microsoft paid Rockstar the money they would have earned from Sony. In exchange for this they made an exclusive deal that keeps this content off of the PS3 and thus makes the 360 version more appealing and moves more 360 consoles. It also deals a pretty big blow to the PS3's already-limited appeal.

It's a sound business decision and the benefits are fairly obvious. Yes, PS3 owners are left in the dark but guess what? THAT'S THE POINT. GTA fans will love this content and they'll only be able to get it on Xbox 360.

Score 1 for Microsoft.

Again, this is well and good but where is your evidence for this?

Nothing concrete, so it's just your opinion as well. I can counter that by saying (just as easily might I add) that Micro. paid for exlusivity on the episodic content, nothing to do with 'extra goodies'.

My argument is just as solid as yours because it's all based uponn conjecture from virtually nothing. For you (and the others) to get so passionate and heated (read: crybaby and spelling things out) based upon something you know just as little about is funny. For all that you 'spell out' for me, I can throw the same logic back.

Make sense? Why should your OPINION hold any more weight than mine? Please don't come back with "$50 million reasons" because that argument is just as weak concerning EXTRA stuff, missions aside.

On a side note, missions are nice, but if I had some kind of choice (in an alternate universe) as to which I'd prefer, I'd take extra stuff that was missing (i.e. that SR2 had) over missions anyday.

Damn, let's hope content like this will be available later on to the PC gamers... sounds like absolute fun! (especially V-Rock kind of radio station... that only would be worth it!).

Gameplay aspects will be greatly improved, as you will now be able to use more weapons in vehicles. Passengers will be able to use assault rifles, and bikers can melee, either while riding or driving.

OMFG !! assault rifle in cars holy sh*t ! it's gonna own hard. Can't wait !!!

You're the one taking the huge leap in assuming that any of this additional content doesn't fall under the "Episodic Content" description that was released when this deal was first made. There's nothing to suggest that any of this is available to anyone but Microsoft.

That said, it all comes down to this:

Those of us with Xbox 360s will be getting this content on February 17th. PS3 owners aren't getting anything. There's no announcement, no talk of a deal, NOTHING.

*Sigh.

imo this really doesn't sound like anything that's going to add to replay value. A couple new bikes, i never ride bikes, 2 new sub machine guns, a knife and new pistol, WOW, what about more powerful weapons? Flamethrowers, miniguns, satchel charges etc. A couple new cars, woopidy doo, and new missions, i quit playing for awhile because i got tired of doing the missions, and i pretty much quit playing multiplayer. Hopefully this information is a very small amount of what we are actually going to be receiving, otherwise it's a let down.....

Wait, I thought you said "where is there mention of ps3 getting anything"? I was merely answering your wrong point.

Also- I haven't said one thing about ps3 getting the episodes. Everyone who is so staunchly (I know a stretch of a word) against the ps3 getting anything fails to site anywhere or good evidence that the ps3 wouldn't get the extra fun stuff (not the mundane episodes with more of the go-here-shoot-them-get away stuff). Your argument that it hasn't been said is just as weak as my OPINION that they will get something later on.

Again, you fail to argue this with any concrete evidence and I will admit, my opinion is based upon virtually nothing (hence an opinion).

See the difference? I doubt you do though with your ad hominem come-backs.

And yes, a very good point that nobody is talking about much that I can see. $25 million for a handful of vehicles???! (assuming that is all the vehicles...doubt it, probably be more).

It appears that R* is sticking to the release-a-little-at-a-time in order to make this game last for 'years' as they wanted (didn't they say something like 5-10 years?). Not worth $25 million on Micro's part in my opinion.

So why didn't you buy the CHEAPER 360 and get both DLCs with it instead of buying a much more expensive console without the DLC?

Really, you have no right to ruin the enjoyment of us true GTA fans who opted for the console that offered more content..

You're a stupid.

Oh, the irony.

You didn't even address my argument, but I guess it's kind of hard when you still can't face it that you made a crappy decision by buying the PS3 over the 360 when you were told from the very beginning which one would get more content.

Do you get the logic here?

I am a Rockstar fan, therefore I want as much GTA as I can, therefore I buy the Xbox 360.

Ohh.. but nevermind, my argument can't possibly beat what you said.. "the 360 is a crappy console" I think you should join the Harvard debate club with such awesome debate skills. sarcasm.gif

We should all love each other and the DLCs should be on the PS3, but I just can't understand why people complain about the DLC not being on the PS3 when it was announced so early..

You see, I would be sympathetic for all PS3 owners who want the DLC if the DLC was announced like 3 months ago, but it was announced before the PS3 was even released.

sounds good... little disapointed with the '30 missions.' Sounds a little short to get the whole story of Johnny and the Lost covered... but I'm sure R* will work it right... and the multiplayer/weapons/vehicles news is great. Plus, I honestly think that there could be more stuff coming that just hasn't been revealed... but so far sounds great... being the diehard GTA fan I am, the 360 was well worth the investment.

PS3 released - November 2006 in US & Japan and March 2007 in Europe.

Plenty of time there, 6 months or nearly a year.

No, your argument isn't solid at all because there isn't a shred of evidence to back any of it up. Even if your opinion was worth a penny (and it's not) Microsoft's $50 million is worth 5 billion times as much. You hate it when people bring it up but money talks and this is a lot of money.

No, your argument is based on wishful thinking. Let's see how far that gets you.

*Sigh.

Children. Yes there has.

and again, all Sony has talked about is Home content. Earlier I said "mark your calenders". That was a mistake because us 360 owners can mark our calenders for "The Lost and Damned" and your pitiful Home content doesn't even have any kind of release timeframe.

Anyways, here's what Microsoft's Aaron Greenburg has to say on PS3 getting any of their $50 million DLC:

It's not possible as far as I'm aware, but that would be a good question to ask Rockstar. Rockstar and Xbox have only said there are exclusive episodes coming this fall to Xbox 360. I might put that up for a bit of wishful thinking on their [sony's] end.

Keep in mind that Microsoft is actually in on the deal and Sony probably doesn't know any more about it than you or I since they're no more a part of the deal than any other company.
