The Ballas

Information leaked from the VGA 2008 tonight.

The Ballas

Rockstar's new DLC for their hit game Grand Theft Auto IV will expand everywhere, adding new content in every form, along with a new character; a biker named Johnny. The game is based on biker-style content, but does not fail to include new content in other aspects. New vehicles will include; the Cheetah, the fast, 1980's stlye sports car. It'll keep it's old style, but will be graphically beautiful. Besides that, 2 new bikes will be included. One bike called the Marauder, a single head-lighted chopper with great speed, driven by Johnny and his closest friends from his gang, the Lost. Another is an unamed bike, similar to the NRG-900, but with more control at fast speeds and better stability around corners. Rockstar also stated the tank would not return this episode, but hinted in would come in a future package. New weapons will include a handy pocket-knife, which you will start with at the beginning of the episode, car bombs, as a hand weapon instead of pick-up from a friend, 2 more sub-machine guns, and a new pistol. Gameplay aspects will be greatly improved, as you will now be able to use more weapons in vehicles. Passengers will be able to use assault rifles, and bikers can melee, either while riding or driving. There will be a total of 30 missions, with one decision near the end, which will determine the final scenes of the game. Two radio station will make it into the DLC, one being a blues station called Suave Jam 104.3, and a hair metal station similar to V-Rock from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, containing tracks such as the previously announced Crazy Train from Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth. Multiplayer will be improved with 3 additional modes, one of which is a 2-4 player game called Drug Bust. The other 2 games will be a Destruction Derby-esque game with an arena created especially for the mode. However, the arena will be explorable in single player also. Another mode was mentioned, but given little detail about. Rockstar only stated "It will provide more freedom than free mode."

30 missions, so about half of a Stories game. Of course there's another episode to come, and I expect top quality since this is Rockstar North doing these.

Is the exterior of the arena already in the original game? Somebody, put it on the snap map!

As for shops, it seems unlikely Johnny would wear the same clothes as Niko, so something has to change with the shops. Worst case, they're just closed to Johnny. Best case, there are different shops.

Melee combat on bike and in a car!!! Holy crap that's awesome!

As for not mentioning new shops, this is the first set of details. There's a long time for leaks before February.

Awesome, way more than I expected. This makes me more excited for the DLC, and I'm gonna get ASAP. Well, when it comes out, atleast.

So, am I right in assuming while the Lost/Damned missions will be a separate save, the melee weapons, radio stations, vehicles, etc. will all be downloaded into the original game should you want to use them with Niko, and multiplayer as well.

My friend was showing me this and if this is true I might be coming back to GTA. Looks like Rockstars is actually fixing the game by adding more things to do. My only problem with the game was it had little replay value for me. That pissed me off because I played all the other GTA's to death. I became kind of an anti-GTA4 zealot. Now I feel dumb.

Just a bit of speculation and imagination, but am I right in thinking Love Fist are staging a concert or just visited Liberty City in a reunion in GTA IV? Well, those who know about what happened at the Altamont Free Concert, where a member of the audience was killed by a Hells Angel who was part of the alleged organised security fits rather neatly with the fact the DLC is centred on a similar gang in the GTA world. Tie that in with a 'hair metal' radio station being added to the DLC and could a parody of those events include Love Fist at a festival in Liberty City?

Of course, if I've got the Love Fist thing wrong, then this is DOA, but if not, could be something to think about, knowing how R* take aspects of pop culture and use them in their own style.

This is exclusive to the 360 only as Microsoft stumped up $50m for the development of it.

I say ps3 will get all the 'other' stuff besides missions (i.e. the 'episodic content'), if not now, then eventually. I don't see anywhere in the wording of "exclusive episocdic content" that implies that ps3 won't get all the 'extra' goodies. Also read: It wouldn't make financial sense to do this and exclude good dlc to a system thereby cutting off potential profits. I'm not talking Home junk either.

If not, then shame on Sony bigtime for this. R* releases an unfinished game not even close to being on par with other GTAs in terms of replay value with all the extras and 'toys'. They do this because they know they can release bits and pieces at later dates to make the game last longer and from a business standpoint its smart (keep ramping up the game = more sales in the long run).

I miss the good old days though where the game was released as the full version. The era of DLC would be fine if all versions would get it. This monopolizing bs is nothing more than that...bs. I would feel the same way if I was an xbox owner as well.

My opinions of course.

I can't believe that some people are complaining about 'no new shops' or 'maps'

We're getting 3 new vehicles, 3 new multi-player modes, 30 missions, 2 radio stations, 5 weapons and a new story... I totally wasn't expecting that much to be included.

I'm soo happy smile.gif

Sony fans? You're actually a fan of Sony? I'd not go into that territory man, sodomizing small import business (Lik-Sang), installing root-kits onto users' computers, forcing their own format everywhere (UMD)..

The original userbase of GTA ran on Microsoft. I think this is pretty fair.

I quite obviously own a 360 myself but I'd never call myself a "Microsoft fan" more like a TRUE Rockstar fan because I will go with the platform which has more of Rockstar's content to offer, which in this case is the 360.

For some reason, I'm still not hyped. Honestly, the only thing that made me go "sweet" was hearing that the Cheetah will return. I mean, that's it? Where's the Buffalo, and all of that good stuff? I can care less about a motorcycle. They practically drive and feel the same from the others. So they're bringing a couple of new weapons, big deal. I was expecting more freedom in this new DLC such as base-jumping, jetski's, bicycles being added (this is NYC for crying out loud) and new shops being added. They didn't even mention new safehouses to purchase.

Meh, it's something I won't buy unless some of the DLC becomes free.

PERIOD

Please use intellect when posting. I never once was "crying", merely stating my opinion on the state of things in the GTA world (been a fan since the beginning).

There is no definitive word either way about what PS3 will get. I love how people 'jump' all over someone when they speculate on this. As I mentioned earlier. there has been no definitive (know the definition of this word?) statement either way concerning the other stuff besides episodic content. You can think that there has been, but there hasn't. For you to say "the ps3 isn't getting [this] or [that]" (outside of episodes) is just as ignorant as if I were to say "the ps3 is getting episodic content" at this time.

Make sense? Thanks.

Again, to review...not crying, not wishing, just speculating with my opinion. If you even have a 3rd grade grasp of the english language, surely you see the difference, correct?
