DZorro
Thanks for this post, this really answered my question i never knew there was a difference between duo core or dual core. I too have an intel Pentium D 2.66 but that must be the real cause of the bad stuttering. It is just strange that new games like fallout 3 still plays flawlessly with it though. If i change it to Duo core will i see big differences ??

BundD
I upgraded from a Pentium D 2.66GHz to a Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz. I over clocked my CPU to a stable 2.44 and i don’t really see much improvement. In the benchmark my avg FPS went from a 25 FPS with the dual core 2.66GHz to 35 FPS with the over clocked 1.8GHz. But when im playing GTA4 my in game avg FPS are really 20 FPS. So if u want to run the game with 25 avg in game you have to invest in a good CPU! DZorro
You shouldn't just go by the benchmark alone. In game it goes way slower then the benchmark itself. Because the real game all scripts is running. I have seen this with all other games. I have very high fps in save house. Once i get outside boom slide show at first. Then slowly gains speeds again. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I can max out Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Gears of War, etc.... all demanding games and get decent frame rates (30 FPS). Grand Theft Auto IV on the other hand, even after the patch and driver update, is unplayable. On low settings and high settings i get average 17 FPS. I overclocked my E6600 2.40Ghz to 2.59Ghz..thats it, I didn't change any settings and the FPS jumped from 26 to 43! Its like a whole new game now and is fun to play! I had no experience 3days ago! I learnt watching you tube and reading some forums, Its really easy. Just keep the vcore voltage under 1.4volts or you can fry your cpu.. (i left it alone 1.3375) Im getting aftermarket cooling very soon then i should have 3.0ghz+

BundD
I have a problem with flickering textures and also with disappearing and repapering textures. I get the disappearing and repapering textures usually when driving. It would happen all of a sudden; a texture block on the road would raise and be covering my car then disappear. The flickering texture happens all the time with different objects in the game. Any fixes????
EliTsai
Passes minimum requirements! Should at least get playable frame rates! No you don't pass minimum requirements - they specify a Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz (or AMD equivalent) - not a Pentium-D which is a much weaker CPU. im getting the same fps and I do have the same card and a 1.83ghz duo core processor
