Zut
A Pentium D and a Pentium 4?!?! HOLY F*CK! What the hell do you guys expect with ancient CPUs that are BLATANTLY under the minimum specification. Sorry but this is DEFINITELY your problem, not Rockstar's. Its painful I know but you are going to HAVE to bite the bullet and upgrade. A new mobo, RAM and CPU that meet the minimum requirements will set you back around £150-£200, but it would be well worth it and not just for GTA4. HigherStrife
wtf. IF YOU DO NOT MEET the damn minimum requirements, you shouldn't even be posting on this motherf*cking board.. talk less of bitching about the game. People amaze me sometimes. jinja_ninja
It is quite simple: GTA 4 is very CPU intensive. A Pentium 4 3.0Ghz is not sufficient enough to run GTA 4 at a good framerate. GTA 4 relies on at least 2 cores. The P4 is a single-core processor. As for the Pentium D, its pretty much just two Pentium 4's stuck together. Unfortunately, the older CPU architecture does not do too well.
dirty-dog
i bet low fps are because of SecureROM?!? missing textures, camera and keyboard issue, etc..... lots of issues No it's because you've got a sh*t computer. Oh and your board accepts Core 2 Duos (but not Quads apparently) so there is a cheap upgrade path for you which would run the game better than it runs now. Though if it was me I'd get a new board as well.

SpyderS2K
I guess im doing better than average with my 8800GT (675/900). Im assuming that do to my cpu and ram overclock. In game im getting an average of around 33fps outside with fraps. Drops to about 24 at lowest when things get real busy and can spike up to the low 50's in certain areas of liberty city. Inside, I easily get over 60fps consistantly. The benchmark is useless in this game but I included it anways. Benchmark doesnt detect overclocked cpu's I guess. System specs in sig. LSD T
The benchmark tool in GTA 4 is very generous at best. It never represents the actual average FPS you get in the game. Absolutely! When the game benches at 59FPS, as I now have got I get at the lowest most intensive areas 36 FPS, the benchmark pretty much is 50% of the level of power required. The Geforce 8800 GTX performs more than adaquately for what GTAIV can throw at it. The cards are massively bottlenecked by CPU. My old E6600/Q6600 @3.6 would only allow 66% of the performance I have with my [email protected],500MHz now. Same hardware bar the CPU. My performance of 2 8800GTXs Sli outperformed the single 280GTX ('borrowed' from work...) in every test I threw at it. I used Nlite to slipstream my XP Install disk and with all the bloat removed the game runs fine, for example, merely disintegrating Internet Explorer from the core can sometimes make the difference of what only 1GHz of CPU upgrade can achieve. I sh*t you not. Prior to this I have a lite slipstreamed XP SP3, only 5 days old before installing the trojan that is GTAIV and the best framerate in benchmarking was 21 FPS. Same system, same hardware, and with a fresh lite install of XP. The 2nd Lite XP was far more considerably reduced than the 1st obviously.
