achievements not being credited

I got the Clean the mean street achievement yesterday and since i've gotten it, i started using cheats as I know it will not be blocked cos i've unlocked it. But today the achievement is gone!! Does that mean that it's locked forever since i've used cheats?

Wow unbeliveable, online achievements are instantly unlocked while singleplayer ones are never unlocked...

I completed the under the radar achievement, doesn't show up in my achievements list though, it's still shows as locked. I don't run the game when online either so my xbox live account won't know I've completed that achievement...

 

On the other hand though my Walk Free SP achievement is unlocked, so it just appears to be random SP ones that are affected...

I think i may have fixed this problem, not sure tho

 

1. open any Games for Windows - Live game.

2. make sure you are signed out of your profile.

3. delete your profile from the list

4. It'll ask you to create a new profile, or use an existing one, select "Use an existing one"

5. enter in your information (email & password) if you forgot it, you fail.

6. it will download your profile, be patient. can take up to 6 mins or less.

7. check your games list. GTA IV PC should be on there with every achievement you have unlocked.

 

NOTE!: I ask a bunch of people on my friends list to compare games with me. while GTA 4 was not on my list, it appeared to them.

Just asking, does starting a new game enable all achievements again? As in I've used cheats now and saved (as i tot my achievements were recorded), but does starting a new game with no cheats used enable me to get my 'clean the mean streets' achievement again?

The achievements are all over the place to be honest. On the outside menu it says something like unlocked 16/50 achievements. When you click it, the inside menu displays you've got 19/50... or your game isn't even there... which is also a bummer

Yeah i know that i've unlocked 'clean the mean streest' achievement (there was the icon popping up), but the xbox site and my ingame gamer profile stated it as locked the next day until even now. The thing is I've started using cheats after I 'got' the achievement, so what i want to know is whether i can start a new game (without cheats) and get the 'clean the mean streets' achievement again? Or is it locked forever now since i've used cheats?

I tried it, and all of my achievements were lost.

 

I'd rather have my client say I have 20 of 50 unlocked achievements, so when Live asks us to handle a proof, I will have it.

A tip for those of you getting glitched / ghosted achievements: save & quit ASAP after getting the achievement (autosaves are fine), then check xbox.com to see if you got it. THis usually worked for me.

Ok i found out that starting a new game with no cheats used can unlock the achievement. Using cheats only locked the achievement for that save file with cheats used.

how long does it take to get an achievement unlocked once you unlock it in the game? I completed the half mission last night and it is still not showing up as unlocked

The achievement should appear immediately in the xbox site after unlocking it. There is never a delay, so if it doesn't appear there, don't hope it will show up later on, it didn't get recorded

Yeah what the hell is is up with the achievements.

 

My gamerscore should be 16000+ but it only says 15550. I've finished GTAIV on PC and got many achievements from it, but they haven't added to my gamerscore. When I view "My Games" on the GFWL guide it shows my score as 16k+ but it doesn't list GTA IV PC, it also lists Assassins Creed twice for some reason.

 

Doesn't make sense.

Happening to me too. I've lost 3 achievements now, Rolled Over, Let Sleeping Rockstar's Lie, and It'll Cost Ya. Sometimes the game will just disappear from my list, but my achievement number will stay the same. As you can see in these two posts on 360 Voice.

When GTAIV PC disappears from my list, it seems the game "Call of Duty 2" for the 360 is duplicated on my list. My 360 even sometime shows GTAIV PC as having no achievements.

I completed the story mode, was given the achievement for the doing the story mode in under 30 hours however i never got that You Won! achievement. I also noticed, that i am missing atleast 2-3 achievements from doing missions. Anyway to resolve this without starting a new game?

you too? hahaha.. well either you wait and pray, or you start again. I'm planning on finishing my current game 100% before focusing on achievements. (i.e starting a new game)

This problem has been around since a few weeks ago, the only way to solve it, I found via the GfWL forums:

 

 

there is currently no way to restore your glitched achievements unless GfWL client gets and update. Like I said before, the only thing you can do is save before the achievement is about to unlock in a spare save slot. To restore your achievements, simply delete your local profile, then retrieve it back from the servers to manually force it to sync. After that, copy your saves from the folder in "<Local Disc>:/Documents and Settings/<User Name>/Local Settings/Application Data/Rockstar Games/GTA IV/savegames/" to the new, empty folder. In order for the new, empty save folder to be created you must start a new game and wait till you slear the first cutscene. Do not exit the game while doing any of these or it may be out of sync again. Just Alt-Tab out.

 

More often than not, though, the achivements you get won't stick. There is almost a 50/50 chance that it will or will not stick. To check if it's in sync, do thse two things: 1. Check that the number of unlocked achievements stated in the "View Games" list is in sync with GTA IV PC's achievement list, 2. Check that Xbox.com displays that the achievement is correctly unlocked. If they are not in sync, you MUST delete your local profile and manually re-sync it, as it means it is glitched.

 

Alternatively, one Microsoft Support article also encourages you to get a new Games for Windows - LIVE game or demo and play it to get the GfWL client to sync with the server side. However, this may not work, so try it at your own risk.

also does anyone have a problem with having completed the game but no longer can race for Brucie anymore?

Hi All,

 

I finished the story line a week or two ago, but "that some special" has never appeared. I waited and waited in hopes its a sync issue but the website also does not display it, to this day.

 

I wont ask the question as Ive read the above reply's. I will not be restarting i dont think and just hope a patch resolves these issues, especially for the achievements which are part of storyline and cannot be repeated.

Uh, perhaps because it's a part OF the game. They made it a part, and some of us won't consider the game completed until we get them.

 

I don't care for multiplayer, so does that mean I should get into every thread about multiplayer issues and say multiplayer is stupid?

 

 

Edit: Forgot to say... I've had missing acheivements for a while too. They show in the game list as done, but online and in the ingame summary, it shows a lower gamerscore and less achievements. Can't say I'm impressed between that and the constant crashing (which I think is Securom not being that well tested on XP-64).

I'm wondering if anybody can enlighten us on why this is happening. I'd have thought that once unlocked, it would forever stay unlocked on your pc, and then maybe be uploaded to the live servers. Not that all of a sudden you lose your achievements because they don't sync with those on the servers..
