k4ch1ng Posted December 13, 2008 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Don't trust any patches or drivers until you clearly see evidence of visual and gameplay improvements like videos and screenshots etc. Otherwise your just gonna put your game at risk and it might make the problems even worse. Thats what i'm doing anyway. should've said that earlier, lol. Now I cant even play it with Niko looking up, and I cant type in online matches. prtynkd Posted December 13, 2008 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Patch installed fine and after a few mins testing, heres what ive found: - Graphics and control mapping settings now save. - FPS may not have changed but it seems to run a little smoother/more consistant fps. - Game exits much faster. - No missing textures so far. - Still no SLI support. Atleast this is progress. i agree, although i do not run sli. i can now use the mouse to look around while driving without the game stuttering/skipping near as much. i do still get a little framerate loss after about 20 mins, but it goes away now instead of crashing. the only negative i see so far is when i first start in the apartment the lighting near the door seems to be flashing... i have the 360 version as well and the pc graphics kick the 360 to the curb. a couple more updates/patches and all will be good. Other than that, there's no change whatsoever for me. It still slows to a slide-show when driving with headlights... overall, I'm not surprised, considering they made this patch before the game even launched, and therefore before they knew of these performance issues.... Still... I expected more from you guys, R*. LilPuppy Posted December 13, 2008 Share Posted December 13, 2008 after I d/l 'ed and installed I went to play and had no sound from the "people" music , cars and background sure but none of the characters. So I re-booted and got my sound . But my first impressions are favourable. I got increased FPS (from previously 10-15 now 30-35) colours are far more vibrant now , textures are not as badly missing as before. Still really laggy during rainstorms but by no means is this finished yet but it's a step in the right direction and gives me hope. Now instead of never purchasing a Rockstar title again I'll just wait now for their future releases to be out for 2 weeks before purchasing don't despair folks they cleaned up some now and will do the rest soon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rainbow Six vegas had what, like 8 freakin' updates? all of which were huge, too. most of the problems i've read people describing it sounds more like they are trying to run this on inferior computers. don't expect your off the shelf DELL to play next-gen games, sorry kids. now i sha'll try the update for myself... haha Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
