I just downloaded but so far I didn't really notice something different. All is the same... which is perfect for me biggrin.gif.

The game runs just fine, no problems at all. Too bad I can't push the graphics too much, the FPS drop to 25 :\. But I'm glad I can play with medium/high settings, and the game is just amazing. I love the car handling, the Euphoria engine... everything. ^_^

Too bad the multplayer is not working good for me. Everytime I join a match, the game takes me out immediately. sad.gif

I want to race...

Are you downloading via Games for Windows LIVE or you download a patch via internet browser?

Although i had no visual problems or crashes running GTA on Vista, it was really slow & the shadows suckedm, The best thing that worked for me was trying this game on XP, it runs it a lot better. In case anyone else thinks NFS undercover is bad on fps too, that also worked way better on XP with no crashing & has a decent frame rate.

I got 4gb memory, AMDx2 3.4ghz processor & GeForce GTX 280oc

I seem to have worse textures after the patch than before. The FPS rate is up a lot, and the RAM usage stays below half a gig, I guess that's good. Now what about the darn textures. Also how about some support for a non microsoft game pad? I hate the 360 controller. I'll play around with the settings and see if I can hook it up right. I had no texture problems before!!! icon13.gif

correct me if I'm wrong. But there is no official; release by rockstar saying that this is the "patch" anywhere.

there seems to be an "update" but this is not the patch. If it IS, then its sh*t. but I'm REALLY hoping that its not, and the patch will be released shortly.

Rockstar needs to optimize this game.

Social Club, if needed, should be in the game where you see the START, OPTIONS, GUIDE, etc. It should not be a standalone application.

They also need to set the R* tray icon to autoclose when you exit GTA IV.

Sorry if this was posted before, the topic has doubled in size since last night and onestly I'm not gonna read another 18 pages or so of this stuff....

I just found this a min ago when looking for the new readme, trying to find the new readme to see if car damage deformation is supported on gf6 and gf7's(as it is with older ati cards now)...

http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/patch/index.html

Remember that url when someone goes and asks for the update again.

And btw this page speaks of another patch on the way:

http://www.rockstargames.com/support/req_s...4&submit=Submit

Edit:

Can someone post the new readme for v1.01 if there is one?

It also said this:

Known issues related to video cards and drivers:

Owners of Nvidia 7900 Series Cards - Download the latest Nvidia driver above to fix missing textures issue described here.

Owners of ATI cards and Nvidia cards - Click here if experiencing frequent crashes and/or missing textures.

Owners of ATI Series Cards - Click here for a fix to image quality (blacked-out textures) with certain MipMap detail settings are used.

Owners of ATI 1900 Series - At present the shadows may flicker and form large triangles in some instances. A patch will be released soon to correct this issue.

What I thaught was interesting was the mention of a new patch comming soon.

Damn dudes, most of the people here won't read a single page let alone a sticky.

I read the 1st 18 pages of this thread...

The link for the patch was posting a million times because people don't know how to read a single page worth of comments.

Update the game, if you are having probs, try the fix, if you are still having probs that state that you've done the fix and it's still not working.

Instead of posting, omg I have the same prob....

lol wink.gif

I download the patch via Rockstar official support web and I must say:

WOW!

Playing is now much smoother then before. Especially in Algonquin I can play very good now. Results from benchmark test are more or less the same, but in game I see big difference between now and before. tounge.gif Thanks Rockstar, fu*ck off Microsoft.

Well... I have installed the patch. The only difference I noticed from before that I can play the game up to 30 minutes till MY GAME SLOWS DOWN AS HELL...I still cannot change my texture rendering to any other level except medium.

Did this patch helped me at all? Yes, if I want to play bowling or throw darts. NO, if I want to finish storyline missions that I wont be able to finish because my game slowed down!!!! After the patch, I did an activity with Roman. Just before the place he would get off, the game slowed down. It took me 15 minutes to make it across the corner and deliver Roman to his destination!!! angry.gifangry.gifangry.gif and thus having an autosave. mad.gif

I think Rockstar has disappointed thousands of GTA IV fans, I wonder how many players will stop getting PC games from Rockstar in the future after this incident of the long waited and BUGGY GTA IV for PC. whatsthat.gif

If this patch is the real thing that they were talking about the last week, then they are not taking the patching the game properly and annoyed players seriously. icon13.gif

I hope the upcoming patch will fix the game properly and make the game playable for hours and hours not UP TO AN HOUR. angry.gif

Well, I was having MAJOR issues before, and now I can play the game FINALLY! Although I have just upgraded my PC to Windows Vista 64 Bit Ultimate + 8GB RAM too, so that might have had an impact too.

I was on XP Pro 4GB before (with /3GB switch enabled) It seems GTA IV DOES NOT like the /3GB switch, if you have that set, turn it off. It made mine more stable, not that I have to worry about that anymore!

My Logitech Dual Action controller now works without any patched / hacked files.

I was never seeing any issues with missing textures / floating cars etc. on my machine prior to the patch, so can't comment on whether those issues will definitely be fixed for those that were seeing this problem.

Frame rate wise, again, it wasn't _that_ bad on my rig prior to this (could have been better though) and it seems pretty much the same to me after patching. I should use a FPS counter to check what I'm actually getting.

But the major crashes I was seeing at the start seem to have gone, and I'm logged in to both LIVE and Social Club (had to switch those off before to even play).

The shadows are still the grainy crappy ones, but that's not a bug, just the way R* decided to do them.

I haven't tried the mouse / keyboard controls because, quite frankly, I can't play this game using them, this game is one that _NEEDS_ a controller IMO. It's NOT an FPS game to me.

I'm not seeing the issue some have with Niko constantly looking up / down either, but I suspect that _might_ be something to do with a conflict between the game and any patched xinput*.dll files they might still have on their machine.

Not tried the video editor yet.

Matt

P.S. I do hope this is the first of a few patches, because looking at the downloads for previous GTA games, there has only ever been one patch for them, never more.

It's making the fan in my laptop run.

Huh? How do you make the link between an Encoder and an Emulator?

gtaEncoder.exe is ofcourse used for Social Club TV. sigh.gif

Found this site:

http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/privacy/opt/

Does anyone think this will stop social club from loading on the computer?  Says its coming in a few weeks.

I would really like not to have a R* icon in my system tray.

They write about something else.

It gives you the ability to hide your info/stats on the public Social Club.
