ImoonPeople
Well just a quick post. I didnt think these so called Beta 3 drivers were going to do anything...but they did. I dont get the RESC10 error anymore and my lowest framerate was 25 (when Sh*t was going down!). My roomate and I played for the last 3 hours since he dosent have it for 360 anymore. Usually after about a half hour it would crash with the video memory error but all was good. It even looked a bit sharper, I was very impressed. My settings were: 1680x1050 50 Distance 50 DDistance 50 Traffic 0 Density (havent tried it on yet with the new drivers) Medium Text (was able to run the high text before the .84 drivers but then it crashed, havent tried with this new beta .84 v3 though) Highest Shader *Also note that I uninstalled Riva Tuner, this made the game crash to desktop with the GTAIV.exe error. This happend with 180.84 beta 2 drivers. Again I havent tried with the new v3. I just downloaded Nvidia tools and overclocked that way. I hope so. I hope there is some sort of way that Rockstar can get the Driver companies to come out and say (along with microslop) "hey due to a pisspoor operating system and us not worrying about driver tweaks for specific portions of out components and almost completely forgetting the total creation and use of this, We failed you. I mean look at all the games we fixed by creating these driver updates... We are sorry" but yeah right , they will not. would be like Microslop admitting their crap is buggier and more hackable than apple and linux. btw I lost 1/2 a frame per second. I rolled back to the drivers from evga's site. it was great effort this go round. Highest fps I have gotten from any beta in the 180 portion. but only 2 fps higher than the rest. 9500 gt 512mb evga card. thermal take fan. and some cooling mods. fcam1387
Sorry, I think I'm having a problem with this. After I download it, and select "setup" it just extracts the files and installs Fraps. I cannot find the location where the actual driver is extracted to.
ciphrix
I got a 2 fps boost with these, but then again I only have a 8600gt with C2D E4500. I'm still holding out for the "miracle" patch
abottig
c'mon man, push it a little further! what are you talking about? with cpu usage that low you should be able to get a lot more out of distance detail, and render quality. vehicle density is also affected by this. I'm still holding out for the "miracle" patch if you have the means; upgrade your card(newegg.com has a gtx260 on sale for $200!! -$40 off), and definitely overclock that c2d! Th3 ProphetMan
this is the same that the first 180.84. all files inside have the same filesize, only difference is the pdsetup.exe and i dont think that even works at all, since i think that is for cuadro fx cards optimized for 3d modeling programs like 3dsmax and acad. Seriously where the f*ck do this supossed beta 3 drivers come from? im starting to get really fed up with so much missinformation and spam. weedking
I can confirm this driver fixes the weird texture disappearing issues and the stuttering. Played the game all night with barely any slowdowns I gained 1 FPS with the BETA 3 driver but stuttering and the disappearing textures are a thing of the past for me now. Star Junction slows down at night of course but nothing like it did previously.
apoc_reg
Beta 3s only gave me about an extra 5fps on the bench (at around 42fps now) but I would say its a smoother experience overall and I can leave Slit turned on. Id go as far to say the games running pretty good now. All I need is properly utilised Sli and an official lift to the graphic setting restrictions (so i dont get the texture problems some of you seem to have with -norestriction etc) With a patch & the next offical driver release im hopeful
Highwayman72
Beta 3? never heard of any nvidia driver that updates a beta without upping the build number, its not logical, been using Guru3d for many years and not seen a single ounce of proof that updating betas also ment NOT updating the build number. CameO73
I've installed these beta 3 drivers and I did notice an improvement. Can't prove it with a benchmark, but it feels smoother. Probably one of those "wishful thinking" things ... but feels good nonetheless
smokeringhalo
Question: Has anyone else lost their 3D settings > programs found on this system > Game profiles in their Nvidia Control panel after installing 180.84 (any version, I lost mine with beta 2)? I still haven't found a way to get them back after rolling back to 180.70. I'm getting ready to do a clean install of 178.24 just to see if they return. Brawly
Hey guys the new driver sucks ass but do you know how I can reverse it and go back to my old driver? Because this one is making my GTA worse.
NoEsquire
Is there anyway to install this on a laptop? I have the NVIDIA Mobility Modder, but the initial setup doesn't seem to extract any files to /NVIDIA/WinVista/. The only files in that folder are for the current driver I am running; 178.24. Is there another location this could be self-extracting to?
