MaxAwesome
My game still looks like this: I'm getting seriously tired of this. When I think that they released a game with so many problems I feel like punching them in the face! No game is worth the trouble I've been having to get this game running RIGHT! No matter what I do, I always get messed up textures... EDIT: what can I do to get this game working? Damn texture problems don't go away with any driver version. gamesguru
Manually paste the link (http://img444.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gta4f*ckingcraprq1.jpg) into the address bar and change the filtered 'f*cking', back into it's original form. That's why your link's not working. Go on try it, it works fine; it does that because of Google's filter on this website.

Done I figured it, because I saw the * in the link and it was not linking to the image. That's how it looks with the latest forceware. No change at all. Lutra78
Did you use "Driver Sweeper" in WinXP Safe Mode and uninstalled all nvidia-files yet? If you have a nvidia card with these problems, than you driver-files are damaged.

SlingShotUK
How are you guys installing the new update? Straight over the top of the old beta or uninstalling first? When I installed beta 1, I uninstalled my current drivers but then when Vista booted back up it reinstalled the driver anyway. I then installed the beta and it went on fine. Was thinking I might just install beta 3 over my current ones. What are you guys doing?
foyaeman
Has anybody actually gone in and tried the new drivers, and made benchmarks of before and after? I would volunteer, but the last time I tried to install the latest beta forceware, I got a BSOD and had to reinstall vista...
juledeac
i'm also working with driver sweeper. uninstall physx uninstall drivers reboot to vista reboot again in save mode delete nvidia drivers completely via driver sweeper reboot and install newest drivers and of course: reboot again works fine for me...i like to keep it clean and smooth! can't test newest drivers now though, my gamer pc is located elsewhere. MaxAwesome
I removed all previous drivers with driversweeper in safe mode, to get a clean install. Installed the latest Nvidia drivers and still, my game looks like this. I'm at my wit's end. No matter what drivers I have, it always looks like this. I'm seriously thinking about returning my game. f*ck this. What do I do? Nothing seems to work! I have a 8600GT 512, E8400 @ stock + Asus P5Q Pro. Not sure it matters, just posted it anyway. juledeac
future drivers or the "allmighty" patch should fix your issues, if not, try to get a refund! i'm not having any problems with missing textures or something like that but the game runs pretty bad, benchmark says ~38fps, game says something else...estimated 10-20fps out on the streets. btw. i'm running it on a E8600 on a P5Q Deluxe with a GTX280 AMP and 4gb of 1066ddr2ram
Zcool31
I can run the game just fine with 180.48 so I don't think I'll risk downloading a beta driver. Also, see this topic: Easy way to get more FPS
Gutslab
besides using driver sweeper and uninstalling drivers from the programs/features menu, is it okay to delete the actual driver folder? I have a nvidia folder with drivers in them, even after removing them so I also deleted that.

I have a nvidia folder with drivers in them, even after removing them so I also deleted that. AFAIK, that folder is just where the package is "unzipped" to when you run setup. So if you need to reinstall, you can just do it from that folder. Shouldn't hurt anything by deleting it though. I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets
hydrophoenix
why the hell does it start the fraps installer instead of the driver installer.. everything gets unzipped.. I see the nvidia logo and all.. then.. fraps installation.. WTF!!
juledeac
if you mean the C:/Nvidia folder then yes, that's just the folder the installer file extracts the driver files in which it then installs i think you can delete it without a worry please, correct me if i'm wrong there

I see the nvidia logo and all.. then.. fraps installation.. WTF!! Because FRAPS has a very STUPID habit of naming their setup file simply "setup.exe". Dumb, and I've bugged them about it several times. Just rename your FRAPS setup.exe file, or move it to another location. I'm actually not against democracy though. Paymox
For you people that get 3-8 fps more, it's probably because you rebooted after you installed the driver (aka cleared the memory) since GTA IV has huge memory leaks. So the real way to check the difference: reboot with old driver -> benchmark, install new driver -> benchmark

MonkeyMhz
Is this 180.84 or a new 180.84 cuz I just installed the 180.84 a day ago is this new? or the same thing?
steve30x
Ive tried all the 180.84 betas and they all have the same date as well as no difference in the game. Also AA cannot be forced on no matter what BETA version you use. Another thing is I checked all the betas (including both linked to here) and they all are marked as 12/02/2008 in their inf. So they are all the same beta.
Runkaballe
Why is Nvidia releasing tons of new drivers just for GTA IV and ATi is just sitting on their lazy arse!??..

steve30x
ATI has gotten lazy since they were taken over by AMD. AMD ruined ATI. I had an ATI 4870 for 3 weeks but it wasnt good at all so I bought an XFX GTX280 which blew away the 4870 big time.
D3lta
Huge improvement with these drivers. The game rarely goes under 30 frames now. Can't wait till WHQL get released.
weedking
I didn't run the benchmark but the gameplay was so much smoother than with the Beta 2 driver. I was getting stuttering with all the previous drivers even after reboots but these ones are a major improvement.
catzilla
108.48 = 42 fps. 108.84 Beta1 = 18 fps. 108.84 Beta2 = 18 fps. 108.84 Beta3 = 45 fps. Yes. I like beta3.
Lurf
These drivers were very bad for me. My windows locked up like 10 secs after getting to the desktop. I'd wait for WHQL release. Even more so because I don't believe performance in this game can really be boosted (in any way), except perhaps if you have some obvious huge issue (Quadcore pc running below 20 fps). Other than that you will need new hardware to see a performance increase.
