Anything above 40FPS on your specs is just a lie. i get 38fps. 1900x600 med textures highest render 33 distance max dist detail max shadows max traffic it runs f*ckin awesome. why would i lie about that? after reading what everyone has said, i didn't think i would ever run the game. and lo and behold, most of you don't know what the f*ck you are doing/talking about, because it runs beautifully on my specs which aren't even eye-popping.. can't wait to see what happens when i upgrade my card. It's just the game's performance is not consistent. the game's performance my not be consistent on "reasonably good computers" because it's not designed for "reasonably good computers." I wish I was an elitest prick too.. i just so happen to be in the niche market that this game(pc version) was made for. i'm a pc enthusiast. you say elitist because you just don't get it. Most of you won`t like me for ssaying it, but he`s right. What he says is the truth and those of you who call him `elitest` only do because you cannot accept the truth. I have seen, not just here, but on other PC\Console forums a zillion complaints very much like the ones here. 90% of them are because PC owners actually don`t KNOW their own PC and just blame the creator of the game. they don`t understand that `PC` means Persoanl Computer, meaning there are a thousand different configs for each user that the user needs to fix himself. Of all the people who`ve complained about a game that I have bought I find that it either runs flawlessly first time or takes maybe 10 minutes to figure out what`s wrong and it`s usually just twiddling a graphic setting. Actuall real program BUGS tend to be quite small. Many people just don`t know to defrag their drive, or use adaware and spybot to get rid of resource using rubbish, switching off stuff you don`t need while running the game or even just installing the latest drivers (all latest drivers not just your graphics card). Some people still expect good performance from 512 memory! If you want to get the most out of your game on a PC, you will have to make some effort. Sitting there and complaining away because you don`t understand your rig and expect it to be a glorified console is not the way to work with a PC. You may not like it, but the OP is basically right! Generally, the PC gamer has more disposable income to spend on their rig. Rockstar gets this, and so do a lot of PC game makers. They purposely make it so that you need a sick system to run their games. Then, they go a few steps further and make sure that you need a REALLY sick computer to run at MAX settings. Ive never had to mess around with a game, as much as i have with GTAIV, just to even get the slightly playable results ive obtained. NOT ONCE! Yes, you do need to mess around... I _DO_ hit 60 fps, My kit is far from "average", yet I complain about the SH*T shadows, the SH*T jaggies caused by a complete absence of anti-aliasing (in game!), the very poor ragdoll effects (unacceptable in a modern game, let alone a "Ready for the Future!" game) I also complain about the memory leaks that I have seen reported, (yet to affect me with 8Gb RAM!), I complain about having to Alt-Tab out of the game to start up the R* Social Club stuff to avoid the MMA10 errors... Unfortunately this was aimed at the consoles primarily..the sort of guys who think that if there is a lot of Bloom then it is "1337 Gfx, Yo!"..I tried running it at Max Render, and once I had ascertained that what that actually meant was the level of bloom, I turned it down to avoid hurting my eyes! But you should be able to run it on low, with those specs, at atleast 100FPS. It runs at a stable 60 on the consoles, so it should run a lot lot lot better on even a mediocre gaming pc. Well for one i can fluently program in C++, Which is more than what most "Professional" coders are able to do . Also what the hell did you expect? You do realise it takes a HUGE team to create a game as big as GTAIV. So far ive created a 3D Game Engine/API, using just DirectX, OpenAL, and PhysX SDKS. That is a complex task my "Freind".
