and you need to shut the hell up, i got a very nice system read it and weep fool q9550 o/c 3.4 gtx280 physx card is a 8800gtx if you know what that is, 4gb of memory 5 hard drives hell alot of space, 24in t240 hd wide screen res at 1920-1200 and a 2yncmaster 204bw 20in 1650-1050 both are samsung dip sh*t, so like the man said if they do have a highend they don't know how to use it, takes more then sticking a dam cd in the tray, you loser

I do wonder if some people who try play this game has an OS like Windows XP/Vista cluttered up full to the brim of ****? And on top of this out dated drivers every corner you look.

 

Also you can easily optimize the OS by disabling crap to give even more performance. I'm still not happy with my performance I wont be until I can max this thing.

 

I gave it a run last night (In game), traffic on 50, medium textures, high/highest render, 40 view distance and 30 detail distance, shadows off as they look crap, was getting around 30 minimum and 40+, hitting 60 sometimes. I think the traffic will cause fps to go down after about 80, as at 100 the fps is slightly lower.

 

If I have detail distance and view distance to 50, shadows off, traffic to 100, 1680x1050, medium textures and highest render them I'm getting about 23fps minimum which is totally unplayable, even 30-40fps is unplayable to a certain degree in this as it still feels uber choppy!

Well to be honest the 8800GT is a very good card and the 8600GTS was abit of a flop, certainly cant get anywhere near the 8800GT obviously. The 8800GT is also faster than that 3870XT.

The benchmarks look abit odd at parts such as both on par, this is because of the screen res (1024x768) where the CPU is playing an important role, as the res goes up the CPU plays less of an important role and it is more the GPU and the higher you get like 1080P res then the 8800GT suffers too due to it's 256bit bus. 1280x1024 to 1680x1050 it is allot faster, even at 1080P.

 

Need a better benchmark site to compare really as Toms Hardware is generally crap these days.

What amount of GPU memory have you got?

 

See if you only have 512mb or even 1GB I highly doubt those settings would be playable in game, a testament to how cack this benchmark is.

obviously its a lil bit more of an issue than just a few ppl having an issue or theyre just morons

according to the poll on the GTA network page (for gta4)

 

 

17331 ppl responded

2483 dont have it yet and 1792 dont plan on buying it so those ppl dont count

that leaves 13056 that own gta4 and responded

our of that 8046 either have MAJOR ISSUES or CANT PLAY AT ALL

so that leaves 5010 ppl who can run it with no issues

 

so that means about 65% of ppl WHO PAID 50$ EACH CANNOT PLAY IT ENJOYABLY

 

i get around 40fps in fraps with a 3870 and a 6400+ (3.2g dual core)

i have the texture issue and its very annoying

ive tried 20 hours of tweaks and such to no avail

and the fact that they said the patch got release to MS a week ago and its still not out really pisses me off

 

id like to get my moneys worth too but the last thing i wanna hear is some douchebag's sh*tty opinion about other ppl being here and looking for a little help

 

like he said why even bother if you have no help or nothing constructive to add

You seem to think i have got a 8600 gts as i said this card failed so i went and got a ati 3870 and as i also said before the 8800 gt is not much better if any.

People are whining way too much, I have problems with my 4870x2 card, I haven't whined once, I have posted and asked questions and I am awaiting the patch to fix my 'RESC10' memory problem I get now and then. I can still play but have to save the game a lot more, autosave is great for me, of course

The size of the monitor has no effect on the game, it's the resolution you want to run the game in. Fail.
