A picture is worth a thousand words anyone can psot an error message from any OS, please, grasp at straws much? Xp was terrible until SP2, Vista is already way ahead of that. People who do not know what they are talking about should not post BS. You knwo you have no clue when you have to resort to posting an error message instead of FACTS. disposeablehero
I have my laptop Dual-Booted with XP 32BIT SP3 and Vista 64BIT SP1 and XP runs all of my games with a 10% performance increase Then your doing something wrong, I just posed a link showing Vista performance being on par, and at times faster then XP. Explain that?
torresno9
xp sp3 and my gta 4 works well, no lock ups, freezes or any major slowdowns ive dual booted with xp and vista 64 bit, i took vista off, also a pal got recently got a pc with more or less the same specs as me,but with vista 32 bit on, gaming is more or less the same, but extracting, encoding etc, nearly most app tasks took longer on vista than xp Edited December 10, 2008 by torresno9

I can make a list like this for XP, in fact, XP was vastly worse, you had to fish for drivers for everything, mot everything for Vista works out of the box. You obviously upgraded improperly or had a poorly maintanied system. Edited December 10, 2008 by disposeablehero
RuWarlord
XP x64 because Vista goes down more than a Thai hooker. Even Microsoft are stepping over that turd and moving on to Windows 7 You are a degenerate liar, Vista Ultimate 64 hasnt crashed ONCE one me in 1 year ... while before that Windows XP crashed maybe over thousands of times over a course of 2 years. Not to mention Vista is faster, better performance, better features, better looks ... just all around much better OS then piece of sh*t XP. You know jack sh*t about what you speak of. Zach
name one app? Apps work as fast, and many apps work faster in Vista, better dual and quad supprot and better memoryy management Any video encoding app. Sadly, that's the primary reason my $400 investment in Vista Ultimate has been sitting on my bookshelf for two years now. (That and because of nVidia's buggy Vista drivers, but after two years, I'm assuming they've sorted that out by now, yes? No more "Driver stopped responding" errors I hope, right?) Anyway, even after SP1, Vista (both x32 and x64) is twice as slow encoding my DVR mpegs to DivX as XP. Now, I realize not many here are probably too concerned about audio and video processing like I am, but you asked for apps, so I'm just answering. Premium would be faster, and again, your basing Vista on One app?LOL. also, Once again. other benchmarks show video encoding to be vastly faster in Vista due to superior Dual and quad core useage and Mem management. Not sure why one person had an issue, but that hardly is a reason to say all this BS about Vista. You notice everything the last 1.5 years has been designed with Vista in mind? Everything going forward will be as well, XP is dying out, makes no sense to cling to an older inferior OS. Vista is actually much more stable, crashes less often due to them moving calls outside the kernel, unlike Xp which BSOD'd much more often. sjaak327
XP x64 because Vista goes down more than a Thai hooker. Even Microsoft are stepping over that turd and moving on to Windows 7 This pearl of wishdom has been quoted a few times I noticed. That's probably because it is complete bullsh*t, but of course you are just trolling a bit Vista is certainly just as stable, or even more stable then XP, it is certainly much more secure, and Microsoft isn't stepping over Vista, as Windows 7 will be in the normal 3 years Microsoft release cycle. The reason Vista was 5 years after XP, was because XP had major security issues, at the time of Vista's (longhorn) early development phase, many programmers had to be reassigned to "rescue" Microsoft's reputation and work on XP service pack 2. and at the same time Microsoft decided to set the security bar much higher, which is ironically also the reason why many applications didn't work running under Vista. They will also not work running Windows 7. I personally admire Microsoft for making this decision, to ensure a more secure operating system, and to force other companies to produce applications that don't need to write data to program files or even system 32 !, and that don't rely on running under an administrator account. Zach
for one, why get ultimate? Premium would be faster, and again, your basing Vista on One app?LOL. I stopped reading after this point. Seriously. No, I'm an audio and video enthusiast. I have and use, depending on my current needs, 20 different applications to process my videos at any given time, both commercial and open-source. This is a flaw in Vista, not any one "app." The way it handles multimedia due to its built-in DRM layer substantially slows down the system in regard to audio and video processing. I was very clear about my specific gripe with Vista, so next time, learn to read and comprehend my entire post before attacking me like I was some generic anti-Vista fanatic.
