35 FPS before

38 now

ATI 3870X2

4 Gigs O Ram

Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.2ghz

Vista Ultimate 64 bit

I'm satisfied with it. I didn't expect miracles.

You guys with the problems after installing the new drivers, have you gone into safe mode and completely removed left over drivers with Driver Cleaner then install? I did that and I have no problems.

Cool thing is, I've been running GTA IV with an ATI x1600 256MB and an Intel Pentium D 2.80GHZ (both CPUS). 800x600 resolution, everything on low except for vehicle density (and still the game manages to look great). After installing these new drivers, my FPS went up to atleast 23-28 FPS outdoors and much more indoors. It's completely playable and doesn't seem choppy or slow at all. I've also been using Systweak Cacheboost as a temporary fix for the memory leaks.

made a big difference in my gameplay. i can actually play at 1920x1080. still seems to stutter after about 20 min. definitely a huge improvement over 8.11 for me.

These drivers make my system restart itself as it loads windows. over and over and over and over.....

so I cant install them ? wtf?!

They don't work in XP x64. The betas did the same thing. Already set up a trouble ticket. Error is win23k.sys, same error that last years drivers had (Cats 7.3)

significant increase

but i have black TEARING ON ALL OBJECTS

so no fun to play

Try adjusting your Mipmap detail in CCC, others reported that setting it to max quality fixed the black tearing.

Good job ATI... now all my windows are minimizing and maximizing very slowly.

Fail.

You obviously never reinstalled a new driver.

If you actually didn't fail at life and had half of a brain you would realize taht happens if you have no driver currently installed and are using the Windows default video driver.

I have the same card as you. But when I install the driver, my XP will not even boot! I have to start in safe mode and remove the driver to be able to even use my PC!

Anyone else have the same prob?

I don't see a difference. I'm thinking, by "significant performance improvements" , they were' referring to other games. Why do I think this? two reasons:

1. No performance increase in GTAIV for me

2. There is NO MENTION of GTAIV in the 8.12 release notes.

Nicely played fellaz....

This was already said before, the beta came out not long after the game, they didn't have the time to address it in his release.

havn't tried ingame yet, about to go give it a go right now, will report back.

EDIT: Big difference in game, can actually play it now - yes it still has sh*t shadows and draw issues but it doesn't stutter anymore from random low frame-rates

Even though my benchmark says I'm supposed to have a few frames increase upgrading from 8.11 to 8.12, I can't help but noticing the texture drawing delays got a little worse. Maybe it's depending on which zone of the city I play though, so I'll just leave it for now and await other patches, either from ATI or Rockstar.

On a sidenote, I think a LOT of the performance issues everyone is having is due to their CPU's not being quad core. I've got my dual cores running at 2.70, and even though it's playable... its not even close to the performance I've been seeing the quad core folks having, with comparable graphics cards.

Minor improvements for me. 2-3 frames but that's still good considering that this patch does not even mention GTA IV in its release notes.
