[WIP]GTA4 weapon pack

Doing a pack for GTA IV like I did for San Andreas a while ago (although this will consist of more of my own and better content this time). I know we can't put new models in yet but it's better to start early because these things really take time - especially because I'm doing proper normalmaps for all of them: making high-poly models and rendering those to texture for epic smoothness / detail biggrin.gif

 

Everything by me unless otherwise specified.

 

Here's the current WiPs (will update the first post as I get progress):

Weapons I have planned out:

 

Combat pistol (Desert Eagle) - Desert Eagle

Micro-SMG - M11

SMG - MP5A3

Pump shotgun (the shorter one) - Mossberg Cruiser

Assault rifle (AK47) - AK47

Carbine rifle (M4A1) - Colt M4A1

Sniper rifle - Remington 700

Combat sniper - PSG1

RPG - RPG-7

Grenade - M67 grenade

Bat

Knife - KA-BAR (not sure)

Molotov

Way too much work; I think it'll take like 6 months at least to get everything done - I only have a fraction of the models done atm and no texturing done yet tounge.gif

Excellent work with the Glock and Remington man! They look very high detailed...hope I'll see them in game also sigh.gif

nice works, great to heard you're going for the good with normals. Maybe you should think about making a Minigun too, as its data is still on the weaponfile of GTA 4, we can't check without any spawner or trainer though confused.gif

Looks pretty cool. smile.gif Rendering the models to textures is a very good solution to get a detailed low-poly-model. smile.gif

Holy sh*t, 661k polies? Not even GTA IV weapons are this detailed.

I don't know if I understood it correctly (with my school-englisch biggrin.gif) but I think he'll render the high-poly-weapons to bump- or normal-textures and will map them on low-poly-weapons to get the same result, init? biggrin.gif

The final models won't have this many polygons - I'll only make normal maps of these for the best end result. I'm assuming the final shotgun model will be ~2000-3000 tris but thanks to the normal maps it'll look like this 600k model tounge.gif

 

And what's the point? I dunno, it's fun to do detailed stuff. I mean, why make it worse just because you may not be able to see all the tiniest detail? That's like saying Da Vinci shouldn't've painted Mona Lisa so accurately because people can't see the fine detail by looking it a few meters away wink.gif

 

And I can't believe I just compared myself to Da Vinci >_>

Very nice man i been waiting for ages for someone to start doing this tounge.gif only idea is the glock would be better as a Glock 17 rather than a Glock 18 as the Glock 18 is auto / semi-auto, wheras the Glock 17 is just semi-auto like the one from IV

That's the lowpoly model with the normal maps, it's only 2200 tris so nothing excessive there ;D
