The new patch certainly makes things run much smoother and at a FPS that's playable but I still get the dreaded lock up which i've always had with this game. I guess I can wait until patch 3............... One day i might even get 2 missions completed!! IMAGINE THAT!!! Keep working R* - you'll get there in the end..... Are you sure its necessary to wait for a third patch, post your rig config and dxdiag so we may try to help you run this game. What seemed to work for me was turning of my power saving features ... Screen saver ->Change power settings ---->changed monnitor and hard drives to never shut off. Each time i play screen just freeze randomly even in multi-player mode. Machine description: MEM 4 GB MB ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe VGA EVGA 9600GT 512M DISK 500G CAVIAR CPU AMD|A64 X2 6000 3.0G VISTA ULTIMATE 64 Few questions: - Is there any official acknowledgment from rockstar that this problem exist and that they are going to fix it? - How to reinstall without loosing saved games? Arkangel Posted February 7, 2009 Share Posted February 7, 2009 will anyone f*cking try to put these in a commandline.txt at the gta folder root??? -availablevidmem 0.82 -notimefix it fixed the freezes for me after patch 1.0.2 i mean, SO FAR! to get the value 0.82 i checked my video memory available (512) and divided by the one used with my graphics settings (433) that would be 1,1824480369515011547344110854503 i know, but for some odd reason i placed 0.82 and it works like a charm i mean, SO FAR! reefer191 Posted February 15, 2009 Share Posted February 15, 2009 ive comepleted game on 1st patch with no crashes but on my 2nd run through with patch2 ive had a few ctd's and a few stuttering crashes which toataly freeze's my pc up and i have to hard reboot im usein 180.84 drivers i can still play the game as the crashes arnt commen but they r a pain in the ass when they happen especialy the total lock up one Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
VelFog Posted March 22, 2009 Share Posted March 22, 2009 i think my problem is slightly different to the ones you guys get firstly...my game does lock up completely and i have to hard reboot (and also sometimes get a system stop error upon reboot) but i dont get the sound looping, i only hear a little blip (like when you start windows and your sound activates, or when u plug in your sound cable to the sound card) and then its frozen no more sounds, have to press reset button also here is where i think my prob differs from almost everyone's i have gotten the exact type of crash on my system when starting social club, but not straight away. it might happen about 10-15 secs after opening (btw i have the blocker turned on, yet i dont think that could cause such a serious crash) i tried reinstalling the game. i just installed 182 nvidia drivers now, so i might do another re install and see how that goes just wanna see if any1 is getting a similar issue Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
indran1412 Posted March 31, 2009 Share Posted March 31, 2009 hey guys, i think i found a way resolve the freezing prob.(at least) For Nvidia users only just go and install or update ur Nvidia PhysX. It really solved my problem. Last time my computer will freeze completely after 2 min of play, and i had to hard reset my computer. NOW I WAS ABLE 2 PLAY. NO FREEZING PROB. if it didnt solve ur prob, Juz unistall ur graphic driver and remove ur remaining nvidia files (i use Driver Sweeper, its FREE) and reinstall the latest driver from Nvidia and dun forget the Nvidia PhysX.
