It doesn't work like that, it's still 2.2ghz. It's like you saying you have four processors in a way, it's only 2.2ghz not 8.8. Not trying to be offensive or nothing, just had to say it(e.g i have a dual core at 2.4ghz which doesn't mean i run at 4.8ghz, i only run at 2.4ghz). And anyway is it even possible to run at 8.8ghz, i heard someone made it to 8.0ghz, but with the help of liquid nitrogen. on-topic, i have tried the defragmenting of my hdd and the gta 4 folder, it helped me a little bit, but i'm gonna wait till i get my new gfx card.

This might be a little bump, but I just wanted to say that it worked perfect! Increased my fps by 15.

 

GTA IV + overclocked graphic-card + overclocked processor + gamebooster + aero basic + 1.0.6.0 + this = pure awesomness

Download that contig.exe file and place it in your GTA IV directory.

Then create a shortcut desktop and have a commandline at the end( -s) and it should look like this:

"X:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\Contig.exe" -s

 

Then run it and wait till it close's because that means it's finished it can take anywhere from 5 to 20minutes to complete depending on your system. I gained 5 fps outside and 10fps inside after this tweak.

Could someone upload that file again

Contig is a sysinternals program, which is now owned by Microsoft. I have no idea why someone would host it instead of just linking to it in the first place. That said, someone other than the OP did link to it on the first page of this topic.

I can't believe there are 166 post... humm 167 now... for only a freging defragmentor.

 

While at it, might-as-well add more "old" news. For those that got turned on with this defragtmentor, you will get erroused with GameBooster. It will close all unnecessary Windows services and programs running in the background making your PC more responsive resulting with a few more (2 to 5) of those precious FPS. On top of it, it has it's own beloved defragmentor.

i have to copy contig to my game directory then creat shortcut.after that i dont know what should i do.where should i type command lines??????hlp

Simple.

 

Copy contigl.exe to game dir, now create a new text document in the same folder and write this inside

 

 

contig -s %CD%pause

 

 

Rename the text file to "start_contig.cmd" (you will have to have your file extensions visible for this to work) and doubleclick it.
