GTA IV Tweak for extra FPS

Download that contig.exe file and place it in your GTA IV directory.

Then create a shortcut desktop and have a commandline at the end( -s) and it should look like this:

"X:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\Contig.exe" -s

 

Then run it and wait till it close's because that means it's finished it can take anywhere from 5 to 20minutes to complete depending on your system. I gained 5 fps outside and 10fps inside after this tweak.

Editing the files for better optimization. Nothing will look different it just optimizes the files better

It's a defrag program from microsoft, it does the same as any other defrag program, except it only defrags the files in a particular folder. In this case the files in the GTA IV folder.

It can get you a little performance boost, exspecially if your files are very fragmented or your harddrive is quite full..

 

A test can't hurt, it won't damage anything and it's no mal- or adware.

For all the tards, i wouldnt trust it until someone downloads and makes sure there isnt some virus or spyware.

I scanned it before I downloaded it with AVG before I did anything and even after I installed it no malware but it does give a good FPS boost, I can at least hit 36fps max compared to my old 29fps max

I actually got an FPS average increase of 2-3, but this "placebo-fix" is better than nothing

Ah now if only that was mentioned in the first post. That's not a bad idea, no harm anyway. I use Diskeeper, runs in the background and defrags stuff automatically.

LOL and didn't you know about "Defrag", did you?!??!!!1!ONE! Damn it has been descovered today!

 

Defrag =\ performance solution to GTA IV. It is a general purpouse solution to reduce in the short-term the HD swap\game stuttering (and perhaps for few FPS tests you can see the difference).

It's just a defragger of the files. If you didn't defrag the HD yet, it will increase a little your performance.
