mva5580
Dude. There is no AA going on in those screens. None. See all those jagged edges? Come on.

punisher.ita
Screens inc.. It sure works for me.. Can feel it on the fps too. Uploading a couple of screens now, will make more afterwards if needed.. I ended up using the Stalker compatibility mode too 4x4 AA 1x2 SS + 4xMS (And this is NOT with P on, else it'd look like a smeary oil-painting) Can see it ingame a lot, and on the picture I think it's quite visible although it doesnt remove 100% of all jagged edges. My fps drops from 35 to like 15 too. Will see if I can find somewhere in the game where it's more obvious from a picture. You don't even know what AA is mate. It definetely doesn't work. I tried stalker compatibility and got exactly the same effect, blur but no AA. FAIL
banelos
If it's not AA what is it then? I forced AA on in nHancer and went into the game with the settings I usually have, P is definitely not pressed. I can see the difference when I turn it on. I agree with you that it's definitely strangely blurry, and I have no idea why it does that. But I'm sorry if it was wrong of me to try and pass on an advice that I thought seemed to work.. Certainly made it look better ingame for me. If not an AA then at least a way to make the game look better on lower end rigs without using P to make it look like an oil-painting.. This is at least a more playable blur.
0rc1sh
Yes. This is no AA. Not even 1x. If u really got 4x AA the screens wouldnt have such edges. This screens weren`t better, just blurry. U got better performance on the first screen becausu u can see more details. In the second u think its better, but thats not right. u cant see all details u see in the first screen. Edited December 8, 2008 by 0rc1sh

The screens you posted have jaggies everywhere, dumb much?

stinkytaco
those screen shots show that AA does not work. You need to check Wikipedia and look up AA.
banelos
Oh okay I'm sorry then, just thought it helped for me and wanted to share it, but I guess I was wrong. Shall I just delete my posts so nobody gets misguided by them? Just strange that it turns on blur to only turn on anisotropic filtering and AA from nHancer. And I'm certainly no fan of the program like someone suggested, I just learned of it today to try and force some kind of AA on.
NIR_NazcaC2
The 4x AA screeny looks like no AA is applied. About a week ago, I tried 8xS AA and it wasn't applied (not using nHancer, but by using the NVIDIA Control Panel with the Override). If you read Rockstar's interview on IGN, they say they haven't added AA to the game due to DirectX9. However, DirectX9 does support AA, which makes things confusing why they didn't add it in the first place.
0rc1sh
Its okay if want to help us all. But in this case it didnt work. NP so far, go on testing and modding guys.

banelos
Well I have no idea why the game doesn't have it out of the box either.. The game pushes cpu and vram the most, should at least have given us the possibility of turning just some small form of AA on. And yeah we've had AA in games for so many years now, so to say they couldn't because it's not a Dx10 game is bs. Sorry again to anyone who might have gotten their hopes up from this topic, guess I didn't exactly know how AA would look in effect.

It isn't due to DX9, but the lighting technique they use where AA only works in DX10. This "Future Proof" game does not support DX10 or aa, lol. NIR_NazcaC2
Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation. How does deferred shading help IV and what would it look like without it, less realistic?

mkey82
You have AF (render quality) and there is no AA. Well, there is ENB, but it drains resources.
