Ive got an AMD Athlon X2 3800+, saying it again...

Which are the risks I can suffer?

Internet problems?

What is the thing about the users you talk about?

It deletes your user or something?

I don't get it, can anyone explain it for a computer system stuff noob like me?

Thanks users.

There are no risks, FUSION just disables a small amount (or possibly all depending on what profile you chose in it: Basic, Intermediate and Expert but you can create your own profile) of non-essential services and programs and also increases hard-drive acceleration and improves an ATI cards performance on most games (if you have one) but is not required. It also optimizes your CPU which isn't harmful.

Dual Core Optimizer causes no harm at all and just optimizes your CPU [but remember you need a dual core].

Here's a picture of simple and advanced mode (you switch to advanced mode by clicking the small X on the left and back to simple mode by clicking on the target button in advanced mode).

(The GTA:IV profile isn't added by default, I just created that profile myself)

Eh, doesn't work at all. Still hovering between 5-15fps at all times. Fusion didn't do crap. The Dual Core optimization program though, I can't even tell if it's running. How do I turn it on/how can I tell it's running? I installed it and then nothing.

The dual core optimizer worked good with San Andreas. With GTAIV you can't see so much different.

Btw if you get 5-15fps with 8800GT and I get the same with 7600GS, we have to change our processor... even if the CPU don't get 100% usage when I run GTAIV (just 60)..

Looks like we're in the same boat. Stupid that mine isn't even going AT ALL faster though considering my card compared to yours. What sucks for us though is that the 3800+ is socket 939... so a new processor upgrade would automatically mean a new mobo upgrade which in turn means we have to get new RAM. And if you're anything more like me, you'd notice that a newer processors use more wattage meaning that'd mean a new power supply as well. Soooo... $700. Boo hiss. Hah.

I recently had to reinstall windows and so my configs and stuff got lost. i had the dual core optimizer running before but forgot about it this time around. So after reading this post i install it along with fusion running on expert and i noticed a pretty decent improvement. I did not benchmark it or anything but right away the game felt as though it was running smoother and did not seem to be playing catch up with drawing the textures. so i would say that one of the 2 is boosting my performance or likely both are. Fusion does seem to just be turning off a bunch of stuff so i would recommend only using it when you are going to be gaming.

Amd x2 6000+

Geforce GTX 280

4 gigs ram

Remember that the Expert version turns off your internet connection. You can easily customize your own profile, for example making an almost-exact replica of the Expert profile (wtih everything checked and disabled in the profile creation menu) and have the Internet working with that one. (you can also set it to the default profile so you don't have to keep switching back and forth to simple/advanced mode.

Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

I have the same processor, but Nvidia video card, should I download that fusion?

I found also an overcloacking tool, does it work good?

I don't think Fusion works with an AMD CPU/Nvidia GPU combo.

Mine does, Phenom + 8800GT SLI

I'm not sure. I could use EndItAll and possibly receive the same effects.

No you couldnt. End it all just shuts things down. Fusion gives AMD boost etc

What a f*cking brilliant post! Thanks for the tip - I had never heard of AMD Fusion. Just got my 9950 so this is ideal.

I'll just need to create a custom expert profile so that I can ensure media center continues to run (to record tv etc) and uTorrent etc.. smile.gif

Im getting 39fps now so hopefully will be able to improve things even more - although it has to be said that the game is running amazingly at this level.. A total joy.

Regarding the dual core optimiser, I assume there isn't a quad core optimiser available? I would expect that to be a possibility but maybe with 4 cores the need for optimisation goes away?

Thanks very much for advice.

It doesnt really help so much.

Can someone tell me a good profile settings so it gives a decent number of Fps?

Thanks.

Fusion has made a positive impact on my system:

Opteron 165 @ 2.55GHz - will go higher, need new cooler.

2GB Corsair PC3500LL Pro - Clocked just under 400MHz.

eVGA 8800GTS 640 Superclocked - no real need to OC this.

Antec Neopower 480 PSU.

Game settings:

1680x1050.

med tex.

hgih render.

30 distance.

30 detail.

17 traffic.

6 shadows.

I haven't compared actual frames as I didn't have FRAPS open but real world game play did seem to be improved. I caused a riot from the same save point on both settings. Good stuff, worth the download for me, thanks for the heads up.

Fusion is still in a beta stage, right?

What about that AMD Overdrive program?

Overdrive is overclocking right? But fusion is not?

I can't use AMD Overdrive because I have an nForce motherboard chipset but an AMD CPU.

What a retarded combination. (Wasn't my choice.)

thanks, but what it basically does i think it set the game's cpu usage priority to very high(or real time)...can be done using task manager. it probably does other things but i bet the performance gain comes from what i just described.

Not sure, though you'd probably wouldn't be able to play GTA IV on a single core processor. Heck, even a dual core has trouble.

But does this work on nVIDIA cards or only ATI cards? What happens if you install this on a Nvidia card? And how can you get this to run GTA IV and other things as normal? I mean with no problems?
