Moam
Got it to work now, i did two things then(don't know which made it work, because i did both at the same time:q), firstly i just chose ''make shortcut'' of the songs and then put the shortcuts in ''C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\User Music'' then when i started the game, right after the game launched(like 2sec after) i alt tabbed out and shut down Rockstar Games Social Club. Sunrise Driver
Have the same problem. Only commercials on Inderpendence FM. But I'll try to close R* Social Club. And what is it - "non DRM’ed MP3s"? Edited December 9, 2008 by Street Mix
soqzippo
hmmm. Doesn't a car have a cd player inside? where you can change the tracks. Shuffling through songs is ok but sometimes you are in the mood for a certain song. just my opinion.
mkey82
Have you tried with .ogg (ogg vorbis files)? I had the same problem with SA. It played vorbis files, but not MP3s. So I reinstalled the Lame ACM codec a few times, uninstalled all other codes and reinstalled only the necessary ones and only then it worked. [email protected]
In case it helps anyone I'm going to mention this: Back in the old days of San Andreas there was a similar problem. The scan was completed but the music didn't play. If you installed any version of Quicktime the thing suddenly started working. This meaning quicktime probably replaced whatever Mp3 codec you had and GTA just decided to like this one better than the old one. It might be worth a try if it doesn't work for you by default. SlingShotUK
I havent tried this yet, but can any confirm whether creating a shortcut in the 'User Music' folder to another folder with mp3's in it works? SlingShotUK
I tried this as well last night. Just added a shortcut in the User Music folder to my hiphop folder (which has lots of sub folders in it) and Independence FM now plays them all randomly - bloody brilliant.. Loz636
Ok none of above worked for me (vista 32bit) However what I have found out is that the path is correct C:users/your user name\documents\rockstar games\gtaiv\user music My mistake was that you cant ALT/TAB in and out of game while placing music in/out of the folder - Once you have put all music in the user music folder and you are happy close the game down and restart the game. I have game and music on seperate drives though I dont htink this will make a difference. Worked for me good luck! :-)
chrozinc
here is something i just found. i moved my music from the original folder to the gta iv user music folder on my pc and it wouldn't play them at all, however when i put the files back in the original folder, selected all of them, right clicked and COPIED and PASTED them to the user music folder it now works, seems as though it needs to have the music in both the original folder and the user music folder for it to work in game hope this helps someone
