Hey. I have a problem with asi loader. I use it, so I could get Ingame Trainer to work, but this program causes my GTA IV to crash and not work. I copypasted dsound.dll to GTA IV main directory, and that should be it. Or is there anything I should do?

Sorry for the late response

Try giving LaunchGTAIV.exe admin rights, that seems to be most people's problems

@ GFD, did the .asi loader work before you added the player selector? Try Alex Blade's loader with something else like sjaak327's native trainer and report back with your outcome

it doesn't work at all. Tried booting the game with "FileCheckFix.asi" in my GTA folder, got an error. Took JUST that file out, game booted just fine, but with none of my mods.

I think scripting hook just has to change to allow support for V1.0.3.0, I dont think r* disabled ASI mods, just checked files for their size.

I hope you can make this work with the new patch. I installed the patch and now I can't start the game because of the modded files.

Keep up the great work icon14.gif

A note for new users: In order not to have to uninstall/re-install GTA everytime, all you need to do is a backup of your installation folder straight after a clean install and before you modify anything. After the GTA install completes save a copy of the folder "Grand Theft Auto IV" (located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games" if you have x64 XP or vista, or "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games" for x32 XP or Vista) to another location on your hard drive, or even better, to another hard drive.

Make sure you have enough space on the destination drive, the folder weights a hefty 15 GB. Rename the copied folder into something like "Grand Theft Auto IV-CLEAN" and leave it there until you need it. You can compress it if you want (I use 7zip it's free), if you do its best not to create one huge archive file, split it into single layer DVD sized segments instead. If you need the space you can then burn each segment to a DVD and then delete all segments from your hard drive. Just make sure you test the burned segments first by copying them all from their DVDs back to a folder and checking if they can extract the game folder without errors.

With this backup job completed you can then proceed with updating and modding your game as usual. When a new update comes (like the 1.0.3.0 that cripples the mods), or if you mod your installation to death and the game crashes/won't boot, if you have corrupt files etc. then you don't need to uninstall-reinstall the game. All you have to do is to delete your "Grand Theft Auto IV" folder, copy over the backed up one and rename it back to "Grand Theft Auto IV". You now have GTA back to the clean unmodified state it was when it was first installed, copying the folder over takes much less time than having to remove and then re-install the game. You can then update it to the latest version, apply new mods etc. And you don't lose your settings or savegames, since they are stored elsewhere they're unaffected by this process.

I can understand R* wanting to block mods and cheats in competitive online, but not for single-player or even online free mode.

First the securom sh*t, GFWL, social club and now this? What's with all the rules a restrictions? Isn't this a game about freedom where the main character is a career criminal? I bought this game, I should be able to play it however I want!

R* are a bunch of hypocrites.

You can use mods in singleplayer.

But you can't use mods in multiplayer anymore.

Only the .asi/.net/.lua mods doesn't work at the moment. But if the developers fix their tools/programs then we can use the mods again smile.gif When the patch 1.2 came it was the same wink.gif

R* is going "corporate" on our collective asses big time. But for every restriction they impose upon us there will always be the Bearers Of The One True Gaming Light, the Masters Of the Dark Arts, our beloved mod creators who will make our journey into the gaming world a lot more interesting than what the drones of R* would allow us to have! cryani.gifcryani.gifcryani.gifcryani.gif Brings tears to my eyes, we're in the company of GIANTS, we're sooooooo not worthy!!!! biggrin.gif

No online for me. I will not support online loaders. Its the thing that got rockstar to mess up modding. That and partly their experiences with hot coffee.

0.95 beta.

1.03 supported

source code included

Tested only on Win7 beta/x64 (build 7000)

http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.95b.rar

Well I've never used Xliveless before, but this didn't seem to work for me. Extacted xlive.dll into the gtaiv main folder, started the game - no xlive but none of the asi mods seem to have been loaded. I'm on Windows 7 x64 b7000 as well.

The asi don't load coz the .net script hook scripts must be updated by authors.

I really hope you can make one for new version. Please make it with online/mp support. And if you are also against modding/cheating online, please make atleast free mode, that's the only online thing I want to use mods/cheats. tounge.gif If it's possible just make modding only possible in freemode. smile.gif
