zedshifter67
Just to let you know - yesterday my system produced such a WS10 error message. It happend while I was testing different versions of the "LaunchGTAIV.exe"-file. As a first remedy I replaced the presumably problematic "LaunchGTAIV.exe"-file with a saved working copy. Then I tried to restart the game: the same WS10 error message reappeard. That was a clear sign I messed up something somehow unintentionally. Maybe it was Microsoft Live, but I wouldn't know how. Anyway, at this point I performed a repair-run (using the the 2 CDs) and straight afterwards I re-installed patch 1.0.4.0. This procedure takes up only a few minutes. That did it for me. Backtrap
Hope this helps people solve the dreaded WS10 error. Troubleshooting: GTA IV WS10 Error Fix I spent hours trying to fix this problem. After much research and experimentation I finally got GTA IV running. Here is my suggestions: - Update to the newest NVIDIA (180.84)/ATI (8.12) driver - Update to the most recent drivers for your motherboard chipset - Update to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - Restart your computer If it still doesn't work try the following: - Reinstall GTA IV That worked for me, if you aren't so lucky I suggest you trade your copy of GTA IV for a firebomb and book a flight to Rockstar. the only thing htat helps major in all the errors in GTA IV is the .NET Framework 3.5 trust me folks! EDIT: WS10 error FIX by me: Uninstall MGFWL, then install the new MGFWL THAT include the update for MGFWL. You can download the correct updated MGFWL from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/0...ivesetupmin.exe If you still have the problem: Go to START -> RUN Type “regsvr32 msxml.dll” (without the quotes) Click “Run” A message box will notify you if this process was successful Go to START -> RUN Type “regsvr32 msxml3.dll” (without the quotes) Click “Run” A message box will notify you if this process was successful THAN it should work. new solution Did everything that this guy said and then i reinstalled he latest patch 1.0.4 and i was good to go. Master_OrHan
I reinstalled and it solved WS10. I used a method of reinstalling I can't discuss here, but isn't much different than the standard one. May not work for everyone.

data3oh
I've just purchased GTA4 recently via the Steam Client so it's effectively a Digital Download of the game, so there is no problems with installing the game. It is however a Games For Windows Live issue. None of the above I even attempted, however here is the solution that has worked for me. Ok for me, GTA 4 is installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV" as this is where the GTA4 exe is. In the folder there is a file called "GTAIV.exe.cfg", Open it with Notepad. The line that says "<enableCrossPlatformSystemLink>true</enableCrossPlatformSystemLink>", change true to "false". Game should now launch. -- My System Windows 7 Pro x64 Intel Pentium Dual Core E6500 ~2.93Ghz 4GB DDR2 Ram Asus Radeon HD 6850 ~1GB
